Great movie about the struggles and emotions we face when "growing up" Harry is becoming a man now, and his priorities have shifted from student to world savior. Though the movie feels a bit like a prelude of sorts, it still stands on its own with interesting moments, excellent and much needed character development, and the movie moves at a bristling pace. But like I said before, my major gripe is the lack of a interesting climax at the end of the movie, and how some of the books emotional moments weren't played up enough.

The movie kept me interested that I didnt even realize that 2 and half hours had passed. The place I went to see it was extreamly unorganized every ticket had a theater number on it and if everyone would have just went where they were assigned it would have went alot smoother.

I do understand that you cannot fit every little detail from the Books into the movies but they really did leave out some big details in this movie.
What happened to the fight at the end, Charlie get's bitten by Greyback and people die, that seems important to me???
Also harry was not standing helplessly under the stairs, he was stunned under the invisibility cloak unable to help. Surely he would have tried to help if he could, not just stand there and watch it happen like a fool.
What about the burning burrow, it's been a while since I read the book but did that even happen???
Anyway, enough rambling, it was a good movie as movies go but not a very good representation of the book.
I personally was quite disapointed.

The producers had to cut major portions of the book to make a movie palatable to moviegoers. In so doing, they emphasized the interpersonal relations (aka snogging) which isn't bad in and of itself but they appeared to do it in lieu of covering more of the story detail.
The editing lead to some rather ugly / rapid transitions.
I do like what they did with Hogwarts architecture in this installment. The art direction and cinematography was well done.
But I can't overlook the poor choice they made to make short work of a major portion of the book and essentially scrapping half the book to merely jump to the dramatic conclusion.

As some other reviews have stated and holding true to movies four and five, Harry's sixth year at Hogwats was not portrayed on the silver screen as it was written in the book.
Aside from that, I walked out of the theater disappointed in the slow and uneventful movie. The "magic" that viewers normally feel while watching a Harry Potter movie just was not in this film. My nine-year-old son even walked out of the theater and loudly stated, "Well, that was a rip off."
If a creative and imaginative nine-year-old didn't feel the magic and awe that is expected from a Harry Potter film, I feel that it is practically a lost cause for us adults.

When I saw the trailer I got goose bumps and thought this would be my favorite HP movie so far. As a film it was excellent but as a book fan I was irritated. There was a big scene that was not in the book, that I found did not explain the situation to non book readers but found more confusing to the over all story. There was a big scene in the book that did not make the movie. In the end, once I got over it. The acting was superb. Harry and Ron really made you believe they were on potion. A disappearance was done well. A death scene was cheesy. But overall I will love it.

Sorry to say that contrary to what people are saying, it was NOT the best movie so far. While I realize that all parts of the book can't make it into a movie, it seems that the director could have added a little more. The beginning was disjointed with not one iota of buildup. Only a 15 second blurb regarding the title of the movie? Really? No funeral? Come on!! The big fight scene in the school? Nothing?!?! Even the romance was lousy. The only characters who were worth watching were Ron and Malfoy. I am glad I watched it, but I would have prefered a longer movie that focused on the important aspects of the book. Maybe the director's cut will be better, but I am not holding my breath.

Once again, the movie lived up to this fan's expectations! It is rare indeed that a movie can thrill a person as much as its book, but all of the Potter movies have done just that!

I saw the movie the day it came out and was SO excited. But it was kind of a disappointment. Not a terrible movie, but it didn't follow the book as much as I would've liked. It was way too romantic and focused more on who likes who and who's jealous than the actual plot. A story line and action would have been much better! The movie was also a bit too long and tedious, but I guess that is to be expected with the Harry Potter movies. Definitely not the best one of the series, and a bit of a wast of money. I'm glad I saw it, just because I'm already so wrapped up in Harry Potter, but at least go to a matinee so you don't spend as much on it.

I thought the movie to be very good but it did lack the graphical knack of all the rest but overall, I really enjoyed it. I wish it was more understandable. I had read reviews saying this movie was the most loyal to the book out of all the Harry Potter films, but I disagree. While it was indeed a good movie and a good adaptation, certain changes were made that did not make sense, to me anyway. Having read the book numerous times, I was disappointed in the loyalty aspect. The acting, photography and set design were very well done, some of the plot seemed to be a bit choppy. Bit it is still worth seeing.

I definitely liked the movie but I'm not sure that it was the best of them all. I didn't like how much the story focused on things that weren't Harry vs. Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Based on the way the series usually goes, I thought there was too much teenage love and not enough action. However, the special effects and settings were awesome and when there was action, it was intense!

We've watched these movies since the beginning and are amazed at how all of the children/teenagers have grown into their roles in such an appropriate fashion. Their acting is grade A! Other than Ginny, who we think is weakly cast, the rest are extremely well-suited.
The movie itself is well-adapted and highly entertaining. As usual, they cut a lot out of the book, but it's not possible to include everything. It's done VERY WELL.

Of course, with any movie adaptation, there are things that are left out, but this Harry Potter was brilliant. Harry's character, Ron's, Hermione and Ginny matured and showed their new found feelings and emotions well.
The introduction of Slughorn and the new clues about the Dark Lord continue to keep us on the trail that moves this story forward.
I loved it and will see it again.
I hate, as much as everyone else, that WB will break up the last book, but it seems appropriate if they hold true to their commitment to be detailed in the next two movies.
Bravo to the cast, director and writer!

This one didn't have as much attention to detail as some of the others... I felt much was omitted about the ending that would've made it more emotional. I enjoyed it very much, but as always, 2 1/2 hours just isn't long enough to capture all of the wonderful story and details! Definitely worth the time, but left me wanting more.

This was definitely one of the best directed of the Harry Potter movies. The sets, music, overall tone of the movie and actors were as expected...great. I know it was a long book, and some of the things that were cut were ok to cut, but I am very curious what they will do about the parts that deviated in the final scene. Other than that, I would highly recommend it. It is spellbinding throughout.

Why on earth would they spend more time on the love lives of Ron and Hermione (together or apart!) than the did on the horcrux/lake scene? And (SPOILER ALERT!) no funeral scene???? Are they nuts??? Of course, had the movie been 2 hours longer we could perhaps have seen all we wanted to see...

While yes, it does leave out some of my favorite moments of the book, I have to say this was the best movie of the series.
The balance of darkness with humor, the sets with all the tiny details, and the overall appearance of the movie was just excellent.
Rupert, Emma, and Daniel have definitely come of age in their acting skills. Tom Felton and Bonnie Wright really showed us diversity in their characters as well.
I give it two thumbs up.

Lines seemed to be rushed to fit it in, leaving it very unsmooth in transitions. I understand why some things were cut, but then replacing them with scenes that don't go anywhere storywise makes no sense. Its as though they needed some filler and decided to write in parts for characters that were paid too much to be used so little. Very few parts actually followed the book well. The rest had so much important info missing that when I hadn't read the book before viewing the other movies, I was left confused. This one was the same. Warner Bos. is way too cheap and will not fork out any more money to make a "good" Potter film since too many flock to it no matter how bad it is. If you don't demand better movies, Hollywood will not make them.

i loved this movie. i think people need to stop comparing the books to the movies because no matter what they are going to be different. if you look at the movie without comparing it to the book, this was the best movie of the series so far. i loved the humor added to it because the past few have been awfully dark.
