I have never read any of the books and have always been able to follow the storyline. I know the movies leave out of some of the details in the books, but I don't know the difference. My 11 year old daughter also loved it, but there were a few jumpy moments, so I'm not as sure about the PG rating. However it is a great movie for the family in that it is very entertaining and relatively innocent. I loved it and can't wait for the next movie!!

I know a few people who did not go into this movie prepared - they didn't remember the plot of the book, they hadn't seen the previous movie in over a year. They did not enjoy the film. I recommend either re-reading the book or watching the previous movie before watching HP HBP. The book is long, and the film's screenwriter had to leave out a lot from the book. The film's pacing is fairly fast, so you don't have time to catch up if you are already behind. There are three scenes in the movie that are significantly different from the book, one of which differed in a way that didn't seem necessary, and that was disappointing. However, the film was still highly enjoyable. The actors keep getting better with every film.

This movie is awesome, even if you haven't read the book. I would have loved to see a more developed plot in the relationships and a little less of picturesque landscapes but over all a spell binding film.

While I like the fact that this was lighter than the others, I must say that I was left a little confused. First, The beginning in no way related to the book other than the head master himself comes to get Harry Potter. Second, the whole blowing up the Weasley's home. Also not in the book. And third, what happened to Harry finding out about Sirius's will leaving everything to him. Even Creacher. I thought J.K.Rowling made it a major point that Creacher could not be removed from the fifth movie do to his roles in the sixth and seventh movies.Come on people, can we please stay true to the books a little more. This one was hardly true to the book in many ways.

Compared to the first 5 movies this one was a disappointment ! The beginning was nothing like the book, completely changed. The screen writer even added a scene that had nothing to do with the story line. The discussion concerning the horcrux'es between Harry and Dumbledore was completely changed and shortened. Let's hope that they get it right in the next two movies!!

This movie was perhaps the most visually stunning of the Harry Potter installments to date. Half Blood Prince was both emotionally moving and funny. The cinematogrophy was thrilling and I can't wait to see it in 3D at the IMAX. I wish there was more time spent in developing the relationship between Ginny and Harry. I've always thought of the movies as companions to the books and Half Blood Prince was more so than the others.Overall Half Blood Prince was a thrilling, sometimes shocking adventure with hilarious romantic overtones. I laughed, cried and jumped in my seat. An extremely satisfying experience.

I was anticipating this movie, really waiting to see the 'fight' at the end on the big screen. What I saw was a whimper. Give them backbone in the two last movies! I hope the writers do a better job with dialog that is necessary being included--too much missing in this one. I.E. Dumbledore's explainations to Harry in the Cave as to why certain things were happening. If you don't read the books, the movies can be 'cloudy' in why some things are the way they are. Loved Tonks, Lupin, the Weasley twins, etc. in books, but they are treated as barely there in the movies.

If you've been following the books they did leave a few things out, but overall they did pull it together and have a very good entertaining movie. You can't expect them to fit every since detail into the movie it would be way too much. But overall it's it was very well done movie.

I liked the movie even though there was a lot of detail from the book left out. I especially enjoyed the character building that seemed to be missing from the last film. There was more of the adolescent anxiety and nervousness around liking someone who doesn't automaticaly return the feelings, Draco appeared more human too. Want to see it again o catch any details I may have missed the first time.

Movie was 10,000,000 times better than order of the phoenix. Yes, I left 1 star off, because there were TONS of details left out from the book... but that's been happening since the first movie. Overall they left out 1/10th as many details as they did in Harry Potter 5, but enough to make it different from the book. Would certainly recommend, only 1 scary part.

This movie exceeded all my expectations, staying true to the intent of the book and personalities of the characters. The acting was superb, cinemetography was breathtaking, the story had just enough light moments to balance with the dark themes. The cave scene was AMAZING! I can't wait to see it again. :)

Much better than the last HP, which I think was a disaster. I'm a big fan of the books, and I think this one caught the basic essence of the story. I wasn't thrilled that they left out all mention of Bill and Fleur's wedding (I wonder if they'll skip it in HP7 too), the fact that they added a scene that was not in the book, and that Harry's obsession with finding out what Draco was up to wasn't really there. Other than that I think it was well done. As usual, Grint and Watson's acting outshines Radcliffe's, but I think we're all used to that by now. Still, worth watching.

left out lots of details from the book. Not a lot of action sequences here. By the time the movie ended I was still waiting for things to pick up. And, to boot, the title of the movie "Half-Blood Prince" would seem to indicate a major theme. Well, this whole storyline seemed secondary or even tertiary throughout the movie. Close to the end, Snape simply admits being the Half-Blood Prince, but big whoop---that's it? Exactly what did that whole storyline contribute to the movie overall? As with all Potter movies, the CGI is spectacular and the cast has matured very well, becoming solid actors. But, this particular movie just left me feeling unsatisfied.

This movie was so much more detailed and more astonishing than the last one. They chose a great director who followed the book and movie together. I recommend this any Potter fan or non-fan. I have read all 7 books in the series and they did a wonderful job with this movie. The Half Blood Prince was thankfully different from the book. I love when movies are faithful to the source material..but to me taking a little license and changing things a bit can be a good thing if done right. My favorite Harry Potter movie is still Azkaban but neither reading The Half Blood Prince within the last few months or being tired off my rocker from the rest of my day stopped me from being enthralled with this film. I liked the movie all the way up until the ending. I thought Dumbledore's death was not treated with the importance it needed. Even Cedric had a eulogy in GOF! I understand they can not include everything word for word from the book, some of the movie errors to the book worked for the better in the movie and Others Don't. This movie was good, though having just read the book again, I found it missing some of the key scenes. It was such a large book that I can only imagine it was hard to put everything in. (I am glad that they are splitting the final book into two separate movies!) The gal who played WonWon's girlfriend Lavender was great in the role. I would have liked to see more in the exploration of the Voldemort and his seeking of objects for horcruxes. It was an enjoyable film, and I would recommend it to Harry Potter fans. I do think that the Order of the Phoenix was a better film. Can't wait for films 7 and 8! Enjoy, and if you have not read the book yet, go get a copy and read it. It is fantastic!

Massive holes in the movie if you did not read the book. Quiccich actions scenes were fantastic, but can't imagine how much they will leave out of the next movie.

This movie is great for those that do not follow the books, however, for those that do, there is so much missing, so much changed and even some things added that change things drastically.
Dumbledore's funeral and the end fight scene are missing and that alone is huge. But the Burrow being set on flames, where did that come from? And so man other things.
Not the best movie yet for book fans at all. Good movie, but very disappointing. I would have wanted to see another 30 min added to do it more justice.

I love the Harry Potter movies. Although, admittedly I have never read the books. Fans will definately not want to miss Half-Blood but it is weaker in comparison to the previous 5. The action was subdued so PG is appropriate. It had the potential to be highly emotional (teen angst, choices, death) but leaned more on comedy than truly allowing the audience to feel, as Dumbledore says "the sting of love." Still I'd watch it again and am already looking forward to the next installment.

This movie diviated from the book more than any of the others. Bill/Fluer storyline sacrificed for scenes that never happend in the book. The beginning was EXTREMELY disappointing. If we weren't treated to a dose of the Dursleys, the movie should have started with the Unbreakable Vow. The ending lacked substance without Harry helpless and petrified under the invisibility cloak as Dumbledore is threatened by Draco. The Death Eaters having a clear escape without the DA putting up a fight was wrong. What was there was good, but too much was missing and what was added did not add to the story.

Considering how much the book covered I though they did a good job including the salient points to keep the plot going. There was good action, but the movie was a bit on the long side. Of course with the amount of content that needed to be included, I was expecting the movie to be long and expect the next 2 will be the same. Overall, great movie.
