Unlike most of the Potter crew, I don't read the books and am never disappointed in films due to their lack of following the book detail or leaving out scenes from the book. As a screenwriter I know how much decision making goes on when trying to trim 400-700 page books into a 120-200 page script. Some of your favorite book parts are not gonna make the cut. But all in all... I really liked it.

The movie begins in an ultramodern setting and I began to fear that the series had moved forward in time too fast. However, within a few scenes things settled back down to the typical offbeat surroundings. The plot with the returned professor is the best and in keeping with Potter movie themes. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, except the ending. The potential for another Potter movie is obvious but the ending to this one just sort of dropped off in a generalistic sort of fashion after a couple of blackout warning shots. I thought that the writers could have done a better job closing out this movie. I would recommend this movie.

HP6 was a great time even though it was a dark read as things between you-know-who and Harry get worse it was interspersed with enough humor and emotion to make it a great movie. They did miss some stuff important to the final story but there was enough to move it along.

I'm a huge Potter fan and this movie though when I first saw it (I've now seen twice) of course I was disappointed because its never what I want it to be which is exactly like the book, so when I saw it a second time I was delighted. The actors were funny and enchanting and played their parts so well. The action was fast paced and the lighting was beautiful. The ending of course left something to be desired but overall, I loved the movie and everyone should see it at least twice in the theaters.

As with all the others, the cinematography was beautiful and the acting was spot-on. I really enjoyed the addition of Jim Broadbent as Slughorn; he really nailed the part. However, I do have a couple issues with the movie. Firstly, to be called "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," they didn't focus much on the Half-Blood Prince or the potions book. Second, two of the book's most pivotal scenes fell sort of flat on the big screen, losing a lot of the drama and emotion that made the book so incredible. Aside from these gripes, the overall movie was well done considering the amount of material that had to be covered. Good job, guys.

This is a great movie. The acting of the younger actors have matured and they have come a long way. The special effects are awesome and the overall impact is indescribable (although they did understate Dumbledore's death but if they were aiming for solemnity I guess I can accept that). As a fan of the "Harry Potter" books, I do have an issue with the way they changed/added/removed a noticeable number of scenes which I felt were crucial to the story. It changes the storyline for some characters which for me undermines and possibly ignores their contribution to the whole series. For those who never read the books, events in the story would have been changed significantly for them.

The movie was wonderful, the actors have all matured and the special effects are keeping with the times. Several important parts from the book were deleted that helped with the depth and understanding of the movie and characters. The ending leaves you waiting for what happens next ... but tends to be so opened ended that it lost some dramatic effect.

I saw the movie yesterday from the front row and felt completely absorbed in the action.
Like others have said, it's not completely true to the book, but some decisions had to be made for the movie to be as short as it was. To be honest, it was over before I realized it; so much was happening.
As for the cliffhanger ending, that's also part of the story in the book, and I thought that was handled well.

As far as cinematics go, it was great. But after waiting so long for this movie, I had to deduct stars for some serious lack of content. I have to say the comedic parts are great, Jessie Cave is hilarious, and Tom Felton is SUPERB. However, I was disappointed how many crucial things were left out -- the memories of Voldemort''s family line, clues to what the other Horcruxes might be, the fight at the end, and the funeral. I was a little baffled why an attack on the Burrow was inserted, when there was a perfectly good fight already in the original. The whole Harry-Ginny relationship is watered down, as well as how it finally happens. If you haven't read the books though, I think you will be a little lost.

Daniel Radcliffe has grown as an actor, and by far - in my opinion - this is his best effort yet. I am terribly disappointed in the anticlimaxtic ending. The death scene involving a major character is there, but what was dropped was the battle at Hogswort between the Deatheaters against the students, teachers, and members of the Order of the Phoenix. Why bother to have the Deatheaters in the school at all? In the film, they encouraged Darco to murder and then escorted him off the grounds. The producers dropped the ball on this one. That fight scene had set Harry up as the hero and showed the audience that this was war. Still worth seeing, but be prepared for the underplayed ending.

If you are a Harry Potter fan you will enjoy this movie. It is a little slower than the originals, and has a little less magic. But it takes you further into the lives ( growing up ) of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Dubledore, in trying to learn the vulnerbility of Volemont. It sets you up for the final two movies of what Harry needs to know and to learn to destroy Voldemort. If you have followed the movies / books it is not to be missed in the movie sequence.

It was ok. Hard to understand some of the characters dialogue. Sometimes sounded like they had a mouthful of something when speaking. Overall, it was ok. Compared to the other movies, ok. I was dissappointed that the end with the fight scene with the deatheaters and the Order of Phoenix members at Hogwarts did not occur as the book. Thought that was an important scene in the book.

Although the sixth Harry Potter movie is packed with adventure, mystery, and love like the previous Potter's this one seems to be more Hollywood than Hogwarts. Although I did enjoy the movie, I was disapointed to see how much they had changed from the books. I think now that people have finished reading the books, Hollywood is quickly rushing to add back what they left out.
The facts are if you have never read the books the movie is a great action adventrue that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunatly if you are a fan of the books and wanted to see exactly what you read on screen you won't. Settle in for a long, drawn out dramatic build-up to the beginning of the end. While the actress playing Ginny Weasley is absolutely phenomenal, I do have to mention that there is one scene with Emma Watson during which I was wincing: when Hermione is supposed to be very upset that Ron and L are 'snogging' after Ron plays his first Quidditch match as keeper and Gryffindor wins. The scene where Hermione is supposed to be heartbroken over Ron appears "fake" to me. Other than that the movie is great. I will go see it again in IMAX 3-D. In the beginning of the movie, I had a sense of moving with the smoke moving through the city. GO SEE the MOVIE! You'll know what I mean. Enjoy! Don't miss it!

In the book a large battle between Aurors, teachers, and students accurs in the school against the death eaters. The only explanation I could think of to cut out such action is budget for special effects which angers me because it is what really makes the end of the book so exciting to read. The death eaters just walk out the school without any trouble. On top of this I wonder why Harrys meetings with dumbledore didnt get the full attention as the book where dumbledore suggests why and what the other 7 horcruxes are or could be through other memories.

This movie was literally just a set-up for the next two movies. There was no plot in this movie. There were parts where I cried, laughed, and jumped 3 inches off my seat. I WOULD GIVE THIS MOVIE A 3 OUT OF 5 STARS. It had very good action sequences.

I agree with other reviewers that elements "important" to the overall story arc were missing, it was a fantastic movie. Good acting, well done. I particulary enjoy that while filming Dumbledore's death with Harry crying over him the actor actually had a nap. As I was leaving the theater, I actually heard a lady say, "I can't believe he [Dumbledore] died!" I hope they were joking.

EXCITING and FUNNY!!!! I was at a midnight showing and did not feel an ounce of tired throughout the entire movie. It keeps you on your toes and flows perfectly. Us HP book lovers know this is not exactly accurate to the book, but that is to be expected. Reqardless to book accuracy this movie was AWESOME! YAY! Can't wait for 7 and 8!!!!

Superb movie with just the right pacing. The lighting, camera angles, editing all first rate. The soundtrack works beautifully with the film. The non-stop action of the Order of the Phoenix is not to be found here, but rather, well thought through plot development that makes the action that much more intense and well, just plain fun! Well placed humor and laughs offset the otherwise dark mood (in a good way, mind you) of the film. Great movie!! I only wish that book 7 were not split into 2 parts and having things drag out (in release time for the movies, that is).

Loved It. Although there were many details left out, obviously to adapt to the film version, the story still true holds to the book magnificently. The love story part was very cute. Enjoyed it immensely. Can't wait for the next two installments.

HBP was by far the best HP movie so far. it kept you laughing the whole way through and the movie had a very fast pace. The acting definitley was better and the CGI was wonderful. Half- Blood Prince set the up the next two installments perfectly!

First I have to say that, as a movie, this was an excellent film. Fast paced, exciting, fun to watch. However, for those of us who are die-hard fans of the book, this movie falls in line with the other films in this series. Very little of the actual plot existed, leaving much to be desired and lots of holes. What significance was the Half-Blood Prince? Why did the locket mean so much? Dumbledore's Wand? There was so much that was left out, I was incredibly disappointed. As I said before, though, as a movie it was great and I DID enjoy watching it, just not for Harry Potter.
