The most disappointing movie experience of my life. This gets a D for Dreadful...no, a T for Troll. For those who read the books, this was perfectly awful as very little of the book was adequately leveraged. Very little!! For those who did not read this book, forget it, it's just a mess of a movie. Nothing will make sense as no situation and no character is adequately developed. I am truly amazed at how little this movie resembles the book or the storyline. If you truly enjoy Harry Potter books, do NOT see this movie, not one situation in the book is realized appropriately. If you don't read the books, do NOT see this movie, nothing is explained or appropriately led into.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I was hopping for more. The movie left out too much. The ending was a great let down. No battle between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Pheonix, no send off for the Head Master. Too much time on not much of anything. I hope that by splitting the next book into two movies Mr. Yates will do a better job. But being a big fan of the books I enjoyed the movie.

OVERALL: The movie is a visual masterpiece. Well put together with the special effects and soundtrack to support it. If you like that type of stuff go see the movie.
DOWNFALL: Did the writers read the right book? You guys / gals blew it IMHO. Maybe you should have included the half-blood prince in the story too (not just in the title)? If you want to "see" the book, stay home. This movie isn't about the book.
NEXT DIRECTOR'S MENTAL NOTE: think less about a Twilight like love story and more about what the story is truly about in the book.
To all those parents thinking about bringing their children ages 5 - 11 - don't. Much slower pace and older target market for this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was without a doubt the best Potter movie to-date! It was so funny and so scary! I think I laughed just about the whole way through! I'm not a full-fledged Potter fan...have never read the books, but enjoy the movies! I went with a friend who has read the books who said that there were a lot of things different from the book to the movie (which is not so with the last 5); however, she still really enjoyed the movie, but was glad she had read the books for the detail :D Of course none of that mattered to me!

The movie was both grim and light at different junctures, with a good mix of magic and teenage love. However, there are some scary moments which probably is ok since most kids who watched the first movie have grown up along with it, thus the more advanced rating. This movie shows you what is good and bad and reveals more secrets of the Harry Potter series. I was still in denial about the death in the movie, but my girlfriend did confirm it was permanent. Good acting from the adults, balancing out the teenage acting from well, the teenagers. Go see it!

I was some what disappointed due to added scenes that were not in the book and missing scenes that were very important in the book that were not there. What happened to the information about Tom Riddles relatives, which is what makes him who he has become? Also, the ending of the movie was very lame and changed the part where Harry was unable to move, which made Harry look like he just stood there and let it happen instead of being unable to move. Parts of the ending fight scene in Hogwarts was also missing and a very big let down. It made the ending seem very lame. What was the point in even mentioning Greyback the werewolf? Overall, the acting was great and the movie was good, just missing important parts.

This movie was disappointingly flat and full of unnecessary and irrelevant material. For those who have read the book, it was almost insulting. I kept waiting for the sparks, the energy, the intrigue, the intensity that are all so critical to the power of the Harry Potter books. The actors are all capable; the directing was abysmal.
The ending was perhaps the biggest let down (maybe because I kept hoping, even until the end, that it would get better). It didn't.
I truly wish that someone other than Yates would be directing the last two films. He has butchered this interpretation of the book. Where is Rowling's hand? Someone needs to pay attention!!!

This movie was by far the darkest movie I've ever seen. The CGI was mind boggling and the story was spot on. The things left out from the book were the only negative things about this... but it was already 2 and a half hours without them... so I think they will have time to include them in the two part finale. Wonderful score by Nicholas Hooper and wonderful direction and writing by David Yates and Steve Kloves. Truely a jewel of a movie.

Yes there were pieces of the book missing but that happens in every movie! The books are meant to fill u in on Every detail of every character where as a movie isn't, they dont have the time. The Only thing I think would have made it better was a lil more back story on the Horcruxes and Tom Riddle/Voldemorts family and where he came from.(the ring) Dumbledore dying was a sad moment that was changed from book to movie some but what they did I think worked for the movie. Overall I like how they were able to make the movie so fun even with the sadness of the story. The next (2) movies are very serious and so they wont be able to have as much Fun as they did in this movie!! HP Book and Movie Fan for Life!!!

It was nice to see the movie makers take a shot at the romance part of the story but when you steer away from the storyline of the book you start losing interest of those of us who really like the book. The whole book revolves more around the Book Harry received in potions class and in the movie they hardly made note of it. If the movie makers decide to change up the last books storyline as much as they did with this one they will have a huge flop on their hands. There is so much excitement in the book that the movie lacked. Maybe the movie makers should have read the book.

This movie did focus more on relationships and teenage angst which didn't give Hermoine a whole lot to do but cry over Ron, and frankly not a whole lot actually happened other than setting up the stage for the next movie, but it was still a very enjoyable movie - a lot funnier than the previous ones. I have read the books and have seen the other movies, so i could appreciate the new situations the characters were in. If I was new to HP I probably wouldn't have had any idea what was going on! Quidditch was back too, which is always good!

I love the Harry Potter books and movies yet for some reason this movie didn't grab me like the other ones there was sooo much emphasis on the romantic side and I understand that was in the bookwe saw one quidditch match and there seemed to be little emphasis on the true story that we have been following for the past 5 years Voldamort maybe they should have split this movie into two like they are going to with the last one so that we could have gotten the whole story

True, I never really understood why the book was titled "Half Blood Prince" when that theme is so minor, but the movie did have a warm tone that drew me into this world once again. It was a few hours of enthralling escapism and the kids did a pretty good job with the acting, so you have to appreciate the producers' foresight nearly ten years ago when the series was cast. It left me wanting much more, but not in an unfulfilled way- it might've been intended to generate interest in two more movies instead of just one.

I knew that certain parts were dropped for the HBP film. So little backstory on Voldemort isn't really going to help Harry in the next film. A couple things that completely boggle me (besides Wright's and Radcliffe's lack of chemistry) are the fact that Flur and Bill were written out , no revelation about Snape and the prophesy, Harry not hide his potions book with the diadem, and Dumbledore not telling Harry what the Horcruxes are. I feel there are so many plot holes that now needed to be corrected. I will hold judgement until I see it again (DVD) to figure out if I can look at it simply from a movie perspective and not compare it to the book.

There are only a few times I stop thinking about my life and how the movie is made and just get immersed in the story. This was definitely one of those great movie experiences. I am not a huge harry potter fan. I'm sure some loyalists will be annoyed. you know what? get over it! that's how movie adaptations go. if it's so easy, you write the script and include all 500 pages in a 2.25 hr movie. haha.

I thought this movie was more of a filler within the Harry Potter Series. I was excited to have watched, although, at some parts, I was simply disappointed and was hoping for more. The movie moved the plot along, although, I haven't read the book before but read enough summary to understand. The acting was very good, though like always, I thought Daniel and Rupert could have been better. Otherwise, the movie was pleasant and plenty of action to watch.

Those of us who know Potter know a lot has been left out, as is typical of most novel adaptations, but those unfamiliar with the Potter series won't be in the dark with this latest addition to the HP saga. The acting is superb, with special kudos going to Tom Felton's portrayal of Draco Malfoy. I actually felt sorry for the boy. Daniel was great as always and Rupert and Emma finally seem comfortable with their characters. Visually, the movie was stunning. This return to the world of magic and mystery was a joyous reunion with old friends.

Disappointment is the word for this movie. My sister, who didn’t read the book, went with me and as the credits began to roll immediately called it “some sort of filler”. Although, it had some funny comic parts the movie itself was a drag. The movie didn’t follow the book, had very little action, Dumbledores dying was seriously underdone and much of Tom Riddles history was left out. The design of the film was even dull. Coloring was dull with all grays, yellows and browns. I realize these are difficult and dark times in the story but it was overdone; depressing almost. My guess is that anyone who gives this movie five stars is simply HP fanatical and therefore would automatically give anything HP a great review.

The movie was in my opinion very well made. The visuals were very good and the story was very well played out. For those of you talking about they didn't even tell who the half-blood prince is and that the best part was when dumbledore died at the end read the books and listen to the movie that you are watching. Only part that I didn't completely agree with was the adding of a couple of scenes because they didn't need to be added but overall very well made movie and I would reccomend for somebody looking for a good movie to go and see.

The movie was OK, however it tried to cram a lot into a small amount of time and so was very superficial.
Lots of things from the book that were vital to character or plot development were left out, modified, or added to in ways that didn't really make sense.
The famous scene in which a particularly important character is killed was completely anti-climatic although afterward they try to be emotionally provocative by adding something that for good reason did not happen in the book.

The children's acting was phenomenal; I was greatly empressed with their range. Supporting seasoned actors were wonderful as well, like Rickman, Coltrane, Bonham Carter, etc. Thought final death scene was rushed and anti-climactic and making Harry NOT be jinxed immobile for it was the biggest FAIL of the movie. The only deviation from the book I'm really truly upset about. I went in knowing things would be changed a bit because it's a movie, not a book, etc., but I think that changes the character of Harry Potter too much. As much as he listened to Dumbledore, he also loved him and would've stepped in on his behalf. Everything else I'll let go...

As an avid Harry Potter fan (I've read all the books at least four times and watched all the movies thus far) I can say that movie was definitely worth the watch. Yes, they left out key things from the book but the movie flowed well, the teen angst among the characters was well done and believeable. I must say, that I was disappointed however, at the omission of Dumbledore's funeral. I really think that should have been the ending, because it sets up the scenario for the opening of the seventh movie. Keep up the good work Rowling & Kloves. I'm expecting perfection with the Deathly Hallows I & II!! ;)

Best of the series so far. It's getting darker, but there was still some sweet romance (especially between Ron and Hermione!) and some of the veteran British actors are absolutely superb.
