If you are an avid Harry Potter fan, read the books several times, and wished for more, then odds are you will be disappointed with this movie. The movie is a "good watch" however there are several "key" elements to the book that were not in the movie.
The previous movies, though not exactly like the book, captured the book's drama and story-line. This one brought elements into it that were not even close to the book and I wonder how they will rebuild that for the last movie(s).
The movie lacks in action but if you love Harry Potter from the movie series, then you will not be disappointed with this movie.

It was definitely a good movie, but there were some key points that were left out (again). I am really not sure how they are going to be able to make the last movie ANYTHING like the book with some of the MAJOR variances in the movie here! Still a very good watch.

as a movie, the 6th HP was wonderful. it had lots of action and a good amount of romance. but when comparing it to the book, i was a little disappointed. i though the director took far to many liberties when it came to what i thought were important aspects of the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and can't wait until the next one comes out. This one ran true to the book; however, an explanation of the "Half-blood Prince" was absent. My son, who has read all the books, had to explain it to me. Points like this should be introduced in the movie, somehow. There were several parts that made me jump and a few that made me cry and even some that made me laugh. All in all a very good movie.

I was surprised at how short it was. The movie will never come as close to the book, but despite missing some crucial details, it was a pretty good one. It kept me waiting for more. I can't wait until the next one.

I just didn't get it. Slow-paced, lots of gaps. Nearly dozed off a few times. Did I need to read the book before seeing it? It certainly did not stand on it's own merit. Everyone on my group (7 people) was bored and disappointed. Oh, there were very good parts, but the parts did not add up to a whole that was compelling.

As an avid fan of the books, I was always incredibly disappointed with the movies. I shocked myself by not hating this one. Many of the themes in the book were beautifully brought out in this film and I was much more impressed by the acting in this one than I have been with the previous films. It was well worth seeing.

What can I say? Another great Harry Potter book brought to life with wonderful special effects and more mature performances from the title characters! What a treat to see these young kids, now young adults, grow in both stature and performance over the course of the films. This film had more humour, together with very dark, moral themes--a great combination. There was less reliance on the special effects--they were used in just the right places and as an audience we just expected them as a normal part of the Potter world. Whoever did the initial casting is brilliant. They saw something in these fresh, young actors that has definitely made these books come to life!

This is my favorite book - and least favorite movie. From the odd opening to the bizarre Christmas sequence to Harry idly standing by while Snape uses the Avada Kedavra, the movie is full of jarring and extraneous scenes that do nothing to set up the epic battle between good and evil in the Deathly Hallows. The wasted minutes could have been used to follow JKR's HBP and set the movie up as a bridge for the two final episodes. All I have after seeing this movie is a great sense of letdown and little hope that the final two will do justice to a series of books that emphasize the triumph of love, loyalty, hope and the human spirit over the forces of darkness. What a pity to let such an opportunity whimper and choke itself into irrelevance.

We were on vacation in Destin, FL and had the best time. Great theatre (Rave)...we all went in full costume including my 70 yr old mom (as Umbridge) and my 75 yr old aunt (as Trelawney)! The movie was wonderful except for a few slow parts where they took a long time to explain things in detail (understandable as this was the book with the biggest turning point towards "the end"). Will see it on the IMAX next and maybe a few more times after that. Looking forward to HP7 parts 1 & 2!

This Harry Potter movie is so far my favorite. It has great scenes & great acting. Although the ending is different from the book, it was still good. I do not recommend children under 10 to see this movie because certain scenes may be too scary for them. Parents should read the book if they choose to take their children. Loved this movie!!

It was a great movie! The best they made so far, it stayed true to the book. They didn't cut out any big parts like in the other movies. I didn't think the extra scene they added was necessary, and the harryXginny scenes were disappointing, but i still recommend it. A lot of modifications made but overall a good movie. Audience should bear in mind that this 6th movie is not at all about action, but more to revisitation of memories and knowing the history and those who've read the book would've known. Story flow is good, there are some tensed moments but too much love line involved. Nonetheless i enjoyed every part of it.

The movie was pretty good they were missing some parts that were important to the story plot, and the ending needed some work. They cut out the most climatic scene of the movie. There could have been more work with the silent spells which was mostly what this book was about lesson wise. However the effects were good and it kept me glued to the screen. If you recently read the book you might be a little disappointed but if you haven't then it would be a blast to watch.

I felt that the movie deviated from the book too much. You can only get away with so much difference because the books are already beloved. I thought that the scene at the Burrow was pointless and is just going to mess with the next movie; if that scene wasn't there then there would have been time for the more important scenes like the other memories about Voldemort. I also felt that the movie was a little rushed. The one thing I will say about it was that the acting was fantastic and it was funny (although it could have been funnier). I do think that it was a well done film and if I hadn't read the books I would have loved it! But here's the problem: most people have read the books.

This installment of the series never really takes off. There are a few surprises thrown in, but nothing really unexpected ( unless you read the books , then there will be one BIG surprise ). The acting is fine , especially Allan Rickman as Serveus Snapes ( I enjoyed him in all the movies so far ) The movie is worth going to the theatre for, but don't get too excited about it. As far as the summer movie releases go this one falls in behind " Public Enemies" and the number one "Star Trek".

If you've read the books you are going to be upset. They took out a lot of important parts from the book and added a few that really weren't imporatnt to the plot of the movie. They also didn't explain much (ie Mr. Malfoy is in Azkaban and who Fenrir Greyback is). If you haven't read the books the movie would most likely be enjoyable. The special effects were really good though.

Ok, I loved the movie, and have an obsession with the book. I think the movie was different, but in a way that made you think J.K. Rowling could have written it, like they were deleted scenes from the book. I do wish they did more of Voldemort's past, like the old lady with the locket, and his fathers murder, and I think they could have chosen better actors for him at 11 and 16. I also think the actor who played Dumbledore in the first two movies was better suited for the role then the current Dumbledore.

Great movie, it does deviate from the book but realistically the book was way to long to fit into a 2 1/2 hr movie. it would've had to have been as long as the lord of the rings trilogy to be completely true the the book..I thought it was great and would see it again.

If you're seeing this movie and haven't read the book, it's a great movie. If you're seeing it after reading the book, you're going to be disappointed. It doesn't follow the book really at all. Motivations and characterizations are very different. But they did a good job with Harry's character.

We are fans of the books and the movies, and we recognize that it is impossible to include all of the details of the books in the movies. We missed some of the "Muggle-world" details as well as some of the "Wizarding-world" details. Nonetheless, the movie was rich in detail and action, and the story was well-served. We liked it so much that we went to see it again today.

After seeing the trailers for this movie, I was extremely excited to see it. However, the movie was not nearly as epic as the trailers made it out to be. It was actually quite anticlimactic, due to the fact that the entire battle at the end was cut out. I was also expecting much more from the book to be in this movie, but I was a bit disappointed. For example, the use of magic without speaking is an important part of the book that is not mentioned in the movie. All in all however, I think that they did the best that they could, and I am ready to see it again.
