I enjoyed the movie very much. I was dissapointed with how many things got changed due to the time constraints of the movie compared to the book. Overall I think they got the point across though. I do believe that for the people that have only seen the move, they left out a little to much about the new minister of magic and the relationship with Ginny. Thats why it only gets a 4 out of 5. Still, you shouldn't miss this movie.

Ok, so, If you had read the book, and youve seen the rest of the movies, then this would have made tottal sence to you. There was a part in the movie where they cut out about the first chapter of the book, (where the ministers talk) But other than that, it kept to the story line.
It had its great funny scenes, and kept me laughing, but it also had those scenes where it kept you on the edge of your seat. I belive that it is a worth watch for anyone whos a Harry Potter fan. =D

The reason I could not give this movie a 5 was because it left too many plot gaps for those people who haven't read the book. If you have seen the previous 5 movies, you can still definitely go see this movie and enjoy it though. Aside from that, this movie was by far the best in the series yet. The director, David Yates, does a far superior job with this film than was done with the first four. There's a perfect balance of humor, mystery and an appreciation for the essence of the series. Best of all, Yates takes the movie beyond the kids' film realm and captures an entirely different (grown-up) generation of fans.

This movie was just what it needed to be. It's darker, mysterious and follows the same style as the director's Order of the Phoenix. With the dark comes the light balance of the new romantic interests and relationships of the kids. All in all, it is a great movie that I would recommend to any harry potter fan! If you haven't seen the other movies (which i don't know ANYONE that hasn't), the movie won't be as great as it is.

I am a huge harry potter fan and i could not even remember how many times I have read the series. The halfblood prince was my favorite book so I was looking forward to this movie, but it did not live up to my expectations (just like all the other movies). It was a good movie but not a very good climax, as always parts were left out, and the parts that were added weren't very good in my opinion. It was a little dissapointing, but its always nice to have the book brought into picture. Hopefully the last one will be great!

From the start, Yates shines over his predecessors. The cinematography has a softness with blue overtones, giving it a truly haunting, dreamlike quality, and the visual effects are stunning. True to the book, it's intensely dark, but with enough natural comedy to break from the harrowing plot. Hooper's score is a true variation on a theme, balancing light orchestral tones with fierce symphonic brass. The script falls effortlessly from the lips of the brilliant cast; nothing extraneous or disjointed, only complimentary. Overall, perfectly poised for the final installment. War is coming; lines between student and professor fade as Hogwarts takes on the first shades of its destiny: the last castle, and the battle is soon upon us.

After seeing an early review on TV, I was looking forward to this movie. We have gone to the midnight showings of each of the last two Harry Potter movies and so did the same last night. This movie lacked the action and suspense of both the book and the previous movies. Far too much time was spent on personal relationships and visual imagery and not enough on the heart of the story - the consolidation of power by Voldemort and the desperate struggle to find some way to defeat him. Unlike at all of the other HP films, the crowd did not applaud at the movie's end and that is the best indication to me that I was not alone in being disappointed in this film. It was just OK, not great.

I don't read the books but have a collection of them. Have always loved the Harry Potter characters and have watched all of the movies. I thought this was definitely the best of all of the movies so far. It has a little of everything in it. It made the audience laugh a lot and it kept you wondering what was going to happen next. I went to the midnight showing and it was packed. Plus it was showing in two of the theaters where I went to see it. A feel good & feel sad movie.

The movie followed the book in most aspects, but some of the most exciting and important scenes were left out. The best of which being the battle at Hogwarts at the end of the story. Also the meetings between Harry and Dumbledore were not explained well enough, which is important because they mold the story together and create the basis on which the seventh book, and in this case the next two movies, is built upon. Could have been much better. The acting was improved though and the visual effects were exciting.

I thought that the movie was pretty good just as a movie. Some parts seemed as though they were trying too hard to make it funny, and the part in the beginning-middle where hermione harry and ron laugh, hermione's laugh looks completley fake, but over all, the movie was good, but just as a movie. As a partner to the beloved books that I myself have read at least six times each, I felt that it fell short. The sixth book is one of my favorites, and I felt as though some aspects of it were not explained thoroughly for people who have not read the books, and as though some aspects were not conveyed the way I wanted them to be and the way I, and others, felt while reading the book.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I absolutely loved the movie. As a stand alone movie - it was fantastic. Hilarious, smart, and extremely entertaining.
Although, I was very disappointed with the interpretation of the book. Instead of it being as dark and ominous as the book to lead into the 7th, it was a love-silly-slightly dramatic movie.
I would definitely recommend seeing the movie - but do not read the book right before because you will get very annoyed.

I really enjoyed the movie, but it did leave out a lot of key parts and added a few extra things that could have been replaced by more neccesary details. There was a lot of things left unexplained. Anyone who hasn't read the books would probably have been a little lost at times, but still. Overall, it was one of the best of the movies and pretty close to the original story, at least closer than the other movies. I was pretty dissappointed that there wasn't the big fight scene in the end.
But I liked it. It was funnier than the others and more interesting. I'm a crazy fan of the books, so I'm probably criticizing a little too harshly, but all in all, it was a really good movie. I reccomend seeing it.

This was a very, very good movie. It was interesting and well done. However, the film strayed from the book drastically - major events were omitted, yet random scenes completely irrelevant to the rest of the movie were added in (for example, the scene where we first see Harry). Also, the "romantic" side of the story was emphasized A LOT.
If you haven't read the book, this is brilliant. Don't get me wrong, this was very enjoyable...it's just a different telling of Half-Blood Prince. I thought Tom Felton did an especially outstanding job in the movie. Everyone played their parts very well, and it was a pleasure to watch...if sometimes bizarrely different than the original novel.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie should have been named: Draco's Struggle: a Harry Potter Tale. Of course, then, the watcher would have been ready for all the changes and additions to the movie. What got most people upset at my theater was the additional scenes, that told you the story line ahead of time, were more fascinating to the eye then the derived from the book scenes. They covered up the fact that they added the scenes by making them good. The movie was fun to watch and engaging and I recommend it; as long as you realize its the first Harry Potter Movie to actually be based off the book. They used the book as an outline and had funwith it. The movie itself was great, the actors, wonderful. Go See it and come up with your own ideas.

I was very disappointed. Things were added, and a lot was left out. As a person who has read and reread the books I can tell you the screenplay was an complete rewrite of the book. The title of the book was never explained in the movie, and that is the big climax moment of the book. To me JK did not stay true to her book, she sold out the integrity of her book for the mass buck.

All in all, the movie was merely okay for me.
The negatives- the plot was really a bit boring, some of my favorite parts were either completely cut out or not really dramatic enough, all the leftout details made story a bit confusing, and most of the jokes were about how repetitive the series was. I disliked them adding the scene at the Burrow and skipping over the epic battle between the Order and the DeathEaters. Personally, i didn't connect with the movie:( The tension and drama wasn't really there. The positives- the opening scene with the bridge! Seeing it firsthand was cooler than just hearing about it and the DeathEater's special effects were awesome! Draco was the best actor in this movie, besides Snape. Love that Snape:)

This movie has a little bit of everything! It's the first Potter movie with a scene that made me jump, even though I was expecting it!
There was some stuff changed from what happens in the book that I didn't like, but that's nothing unusual. If you've never read the books this movie will be amazing.
All the parts were acted beautifully. Although I wanted Slughorn to be as hefty as he is in the book. But that's just nitpicking. Everyone should see this! It's now my second favorite of the series. The first will always be my favorite.

This movie moved slower than the previous ones. We see "the children" of Hogwarts grow up before our eyes to which they are now young adluts. While being prepared by Professor Dumbledor for the final conflict with Lord Voldemort, Harry also must cope with his feelings torward Ginny Weasley while watching his best friends Ron and Hermonie deny their feelings for each other as well. There is a touching scene between Harry and Hermione expressing their frustrations. However, Tom Fleton has proven himself in his performance as Draco Malfoy. Helena Bonham Carter combines mental instability and sensuallity quite well.

Overall, we were thrilled to be seeing it at last!! The acting was stronger and the relationships nicely developed. Lots of fun humor, loved Ron's adventures in sports and love! However, it needed to be longer. There were so many details left out. There needed to be more about the pensive memories, more of the horcruxes' details, and the key battle with the death eaters at the end is left out. Maybe some of this information will be dropped into the next two movies, or put into the director's cut (???) But all that said, it was a great film, we enjoyed it very much. The action scenes were thrilling. The special effects magnificent. Will see it again...and again... and ...well, .....you know!!
