This movie was excellent! It had humor, love, action, all the makings of a fantastic movie. However, they left out some crucial scenes that I was very much looking forward to. Although the director included a new scene that was not in the book which involved a very good scene of action, I wished it had more. On the bright side, I saw a humorous side to the Harry Potter series I had not seen before! I enjoyed it and laughed along with the rest of the audience. I'm looking forward to the next movies and recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of Harry potter, devoted or not.

The best part of the book was left out! the end where the battle takes place in the school was entirely cut out!? If they had added even just a 5-10 minute section with that battle scene in there it would have made the movie a even bigger hit....but I honestly feel true Harry fans that have read the books will be very unsattisfied by how much it was changed.....the worst part is they cut out the battle scene in order to try and make dumbledores death more dramatic, Which didn't work.....the book was far more sad than the movie played it out to be.

They did a very good job mixing humor into the dark theme and setting for the movie. Could have been a bit darker for my tastes, but I suppose they held back in favor of a more family-friendly film, which is understandable. Over all, it was a really good film and I will enjoy seeing it again.

Very good movie don't get me wrong. But I felt major moments from the book were down played in the movie. And the center drive for the movie was missing. If you didn't read the books you might not understand the importance of this chapter in the story. Still very much worth seeing... very funny and excellent acting.

I was disappointed--the worst one of the 6 so far. Admittedly I'm a purist, but why add gratuitous scenes (i.e., opening scene with Harry flirting in subway station??), while leaving out important things (i.e., no funeral scene for Dumbledore? no scenes re: finding other horcruxes instead of just one?) Worse, the random creative license with the most important moment of the series-Dumbledore's death scene-was strange (why in a tower with several people around and Harry awkwardly looking from underneath the floor instead of the way the book has it?) Overall-disappointed.

I went to the midnight release of Half Blood Prince and I must say, this movie was wicked awesome!!! Now, it deviated from the book a little bit....really the only biggest deviation was that the movie cut out a lot of the scenes from the book. But that is to be expected.
The acting was excellent. Dan Radcliffe played his role with vigor and Ron was hilarious. Ginny is turning into a cute girl that has a very sensual sense of humor (some of the scenes / scripting could be extrapolated into vulgar territory).
Overall, the acting was great. The movie itself, while dark, had plenty of comic relief that embellished the story line rather than distract the viewer from the main plot line.

I think Mr Yates should have read the book again before directing this movie. He has been able to capture the darkening emotions of each book, but something went wrong with this one. The Half blood prince movie was more of a romantic comedy than a darkening of the life and times in the wizard world and it was disappointing. Not only did they cut and paste dialogue from Order of the Phoenix when Harry was chasing Bellatrix but they cut and paste the Weasley twins music as well (are we losing our creative edge?). There was so much more to the book that was totally lost in lieu of comedy, which most directors seems to do over time. C'mon guys, you're picking a really bad time to either get sloppy or comfortable or both.

Ok, maybe if I was about 13 years old and totally all about making out and drama, my small brain might have actually enjoyed this movie more than I actually did. Unfortunately, I'm not so I'd have to say to skip the movie. I've read all of the books and I have to say Half Blood Prince was my favorite out of all of them. But the movie adaptation really watered down all of the important parts that people who didn't read the books wouldn't understand. I'd have to say this was the worst Harry Potter movie of them all, however, it was not so bad that it didn't deserve a watch. See it at least once to say you saw it, but is it worth spending the extra money to see it in IMAX 3D? Definintely not.

While at parts funny, with beautiful imagery, this was not the best of the series thus far. There's one part, you see it in a trailer even, where it appears Harry is swarmed by an army of Gollums. It was still entertaining enough for Mum and I to go to the midnight showing with my eight year old sister without anyone falling asleep in the theatre, but we could have skipped work this morning and seen a first showing for less and avoided much of the crowds.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Love the books, and enjoy the movies for the most part. However, the sixth movie left out fundamental parts of scenes! The fight scene at the end...There were DEFINITLY people from Hogwarts defending the school. A twin lost an ear. Bill got attacked by Fenir. There were other losses, equally important to ALL the characters in the book. And leving out the minister change was also somewhat irratating. All in all though, the movie was very funny, and had very good special effects.

For all the information the book covered, the movie did a much better job than movie 5 did. The effects were great, the story made sense and was well-balanced. I thought there was a great balance between the funny aspects of the characters becoming hormone driven teens and the seriousness of the storyline. It could have been such a very dark, dismal movie but the audience was given many scenes to laugh out loud to while never losing sight of the evil uprising. Will see it many more times!!

I liked the movie a lot. I think younger audience members may not care for it as it has a slower pace then the other films. The director took a few licenses with the film I don't agree with, but I know had to be done in order to cut the running time. He created a bit of a plot hole for the following movies. When Harry needs to hide his potions book he and Ginny go to the room of requirements and she hides it. He's there with his eyes closed. He never see's the bust with the Diam on it! It would have taken 5 seconds for a quick pan shot of him smirking at the ugly bust and worth the extra time in my opinion. Over all a very good film. Darkest of the series, but it is a transitional piece leading to the final confrontation.

Overall, movie was awesome! but i didn't like the fact that they showed so little action and more lovey dovey scenes. And they cut out sooooo much. It is detailed it in the book.

As a long time Harry Potter fan, I must admit that I'm disappointed. The movie was slow and more somber than necessary. On one hand I can understand that the movie should be dark and serious since Dumbledore dies. On the other hand, the director failed to show how the level of danger was increasing and the events that led Dumbledore,and now Harry, to start searching for the horcruxes.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

For the die hard Harry Potter fans out there, Id say give this movie a try. Heck, for anyone out there give it a try. I thought it was a very good movie, just surprising in more ways than one. To my personal knowledge this book was where the darkness of the series really began to flourish. Yet the movie to me seemed much more like a comedy. It was very funny and therefore still a very good movie, just surprising like I said. Also, for the honest and true Harry Potter fans, you will notice that many things were either changed or left out. I didn't take this into consideration because movies based on books do that many times, but it's still something to look at. All in all, it was a very well done movie.
