Considering the amount of events in the book the movie was based off of, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was excellent! The musical score was very well put together. The special effects were great as well. Even if things didn't look EXACTLY as they were described by J.K. Rowling, I think readers and non-readers alike can enjoy this movie. Yes, certain events that were present in the book were not present in this movie, but it is only a 2 1/2 hour movie; they can't put everything in exactly the same. Overall, it was "pottertastic"

This movie was well done and very entertaining. The only issue I have with it is that they took quite a few creative liberties with it. Approximately half of the movie adheres to the book and the rest is completely new. I understand some of the changes but I wouldv'e liked to see them keep more with the integrity of the book.

Just a warning- if you have read the book, do all that you can to not compare it to the movie, or you will be completely dissatisfied. However, anyone who has not read the book will probably say that it is the best Harry Potter movie yet.

The sixth HP movie was absolutely awesome! The acting was up to par, the special effects were quite good, and they did a good job of retelling the story. Of course they had to leave some things out, but I thought they gave the overall impression of the sixth book pretty well. The depiction of the budding romances was very well done. Needless to say, this was the funniest Potter film yet. The tension between Dark and Good forces was also a key factor that was portrayed well. It ended well and I can see a great transition scene coming into the next film. Great addition to the rest of the movies. A definite must for all potter fans and even the non-fans!!

I was very impressed with this movie! I think David Yates redeemed himself from the 5th movie. some moments with hermione and ginny could have been better, but thankfully they did not play that big of a role in this movie. I LOVE this movie and i would recommend that eveyone go see it!!

I was greatly surprised to find that the 6th movie was really well put together and a great story of friendship, trust, courage, jealousy and love.This movie was surprisingly funny, everyone in the theater was laughing their heads off and it had great special effects. This movie took its own path from the book at times, but it was a greatly rewritten story. HEADS UP: This movie was really focusing on comedy and romance, it had a couple action scences and dark parts, but otherwise it was more of a light movie. I would recomend it to anyone who loves Harry Potter or who loves a great story. Well I got to go, I'm just about to walk out the door to see it again. Till next time.

I was very excited to see this movie in November, but then sad to see that it had been postponed. I later found out, today [when I saw the movie], that it was definitely worth it. This movie had very good graphics and actors. They stayed pretty close to the book and all the events that happened, too. I loved how everything was well portrayed and everything looked pretty convincing.
Overall I think that I'd definietly recommend this book and I really want to see it again.

Great fun to watch, it was over before I knew it. Special effects were the best so far of the previous movies. I enjoyed the movie more for having read the book prior to seeing. The book includes more details such as character and relationship building that due to time constraints a movie just cannot include. This is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The movie-going experience was 5 stars!

This was some of the best acting I've seen from several of the actors in this series. Some actors did fall short of the mark but it wasn't too distracting. The effects were good and fun to watch I would say there were only one or two gratuitous effects scenes. It was a lot funnier than any of the others somehow (maybe to break up the general dark mood of the story). There were lots of periods of laughing out loud in the theater. Don't know how closely it matches the book because I haven't read it several years now.
BTW this movie should have been rated PG-13 for violence and 'sensuality'.

The movie starts with a bang - literally. Viewers experience flight and witness the fear that has trickled over to people in the "Muggle World" (non-magical folks). Not bad for an attention getter. Students at Hogwarts are dating and hormones are raging. The fight against Voldemort and his supporters is reaching a heightened pitch.
The comic relief scenes were hilarious. People in the theater I was at laughed frequently at these scenes. It was a rare glimpse into the personalities of students and was a welcome relief to the otherwise darker tone present throughout. I'll be seeing it again in IMAX 3D

Honestly, I loved the movie. I've read the books, I love them and I still loved the movie. Though specific scenes were cut out, the director did so for a reason (look at interviews). I would have to agree that the Burrow scene was a little odd however. It didn't exactly feel like a Harry Potter movie, but they are all growing up, and as for me, I'm glad the movie was different then the rest. I can only take watching the same type thing so many times in a row. I would definitely recommend the movie.

Like all of the Harry Potter movies, the cast and special effects were incredible. So many things occurred in the book that just couldn't fit into a 2 hour and 45 -ish minute time limit. The producers probably could have taken out some "filler" footage and replaced it with more epic, heart warming events or details that contributed to our love for the Harry Potter series. The ending was a very good lead for the next movie. I'll be expecting more.

Stop complaining about what they take out. After going through 5 movies already, you should be used to it by now. And if JK Rowling isn't complaining, neither should you.
This movie focused a lot on the development of the characters - AWESOME. They cut out useless backstories for those who don't read the book - I didn't mind (i.e. Fleur and Bill were not necessary plots in this book). This really is the best one yet.

They left out more than half the book! The movie was choppy as there was no explanation. Then there were things put in that never happened; like the wheat field and the Weasley's house catching on fire. There were too many changes. This book should have been made into two different movies to keep with the story line. I was so disappointed. What happened to Dumbledore's funeral? If he isn't buried, Voldemort cannot break into his tomb and steal the wand. Dobbie and Creature were written out of the movies and they both played integral parts in the books. Again, there was too much information taken out of this movie. The bridge collapse was unnecessary; that time could have been used to put in the scenes that were needed to follow the book.

I thought this movie was overall fantastic. It included every hilarious part of the 6th book I enjoyed. I did not really understand why they decided to destroy the Burrow, that part seemed quite odd, and I had wished they included more about the other students and members of the Order of the Pheonix in the final scene but given how long the book is and how long they would have to make the movie in order to get this all in, I understand. Overall I thought it was brilliant and I would definitely see it again as well as recommend it to others.

I was very impressed with the movie's effects and acting. However I do not believe that the movie covered even half of the MAJOR events that took place in the book, events that shape the characters and their future endeavors. I honestly can't see how they will continue with another movie(s) without these important points in the 6th installment. As a fan of the book, what irks me about this film's reception is that other fans expect it to be a perfect reflection of the book--it's not, and it shouldn't be.
The book Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was a segueway into the Deathy Hallows, and the movie effectively creates that bridge.
The acting of this film was superb: Michael Gambon reveals a softer, more accessible Dumbledore; Emma, Daniel and Rupert mature along with their characters; and one of the the most interesting and moving performances of the film came from Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy.
HBP was inspiring, dark, funny and endearing. Don't come into the film expecting a pedantic retelling of the book, and it won't disappoint.

This movie made me wonder if the movie makers read the book. It was a good movie. But.... if you read the book there was a really important fight that I that expected to see in the movie. It was completely left out! The movie could have been much better. I thought I was going to see a action and adventure movie. This was more of a teenage chick flick.

I do recommend this movie, although go with your expectations in check. It does not have the action the previous ones had, but it is important to develop the characters for the future two movies. The romantic parts are still very innocent and cute.

I seemed to remember the sixth book being about the journey through Voldemort's past via several memories. Some pertinent information was lost due to the lack memories in the movie. The possible existing horcruxes were not explained to Harry and there wasn't a battle at the end! The last two movies have got some catching up to to do when it comes to plot.
With all that being said...
I loved the movie. I understand that film adaptions take liberties out of necessity. If JK Rowling okayed this movie...then so be it.
The relationship woes, the brilliant acting and the captivating story; it all gains my joyous approval. I'm going to take off my critical hat and go enjoy the movie for a second time.

The first two films- eh. The other ones get better and better. And here we have "The Half-Blood Prince". This movie is probably too scary for very small children, but I loved it. It was very fast-paced and exciting. All the principle characters like Harry, Ron and Hermione were much more nuanced in their acting. They have really grown as expressive performers. It did seem a bit long, but to be honest, I don't think I could tell you what I would trim, as I liked it all. Go see it.
