I was surprised about how well the movie was done in regards to keeping to the story line of the book. In truth, I didn't feel it needed the big fight at the end, the essence that is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was really captured in the movie. It wasn't, by any means, a bad movie, I really enjoyed it. The emotion was captured beautifully, and the emotion was more necessary than every part of the book be crammed into the movie. The costume design could have been a touch better, in my opinion, (Draco looked like a vicar/priest/deacon through a lot of it, and Harry looked just plain sloppy) but in light of that, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I read the book twice so I have to say that I was highly disappointed in the movie. I realize that they have to edit such a large book but I think they could have left out some of the love interests and put in more of what was left out of the book. The characters were great and the movie was good. Just disappointing.

In movies past, directors chose a certain angle/aesthetic within the material & skimmed/cut parts not relevant to that perspective. That's forgivable. In THIS movie, the director wanted to include a bit of everything in the book & failed to develop ANY plot points. Like catering co. trying to pass off mini hors d'oeuvres as 10 course meal: not fulfilling. The book’s 650 pages, & that's a lot to serve up. However, the last straw was the scenes not only NOT in the book but also wreak any chance for both continuity AND loyalty to Deathly Hallows to come. Refer to the scenes with Mrs. Lovett (oops! I mean, Bellatrix). Overall, I recommend waiting for the DVD in order to hear how the director is going to explain himself.

this movie was so so fantastic. even though alot of the book had to be left out, i get why they had to. but i dont know how theyre going to transition to the next film without all of the riddle/gaunt back story. it had alot more comedic relief than the others, and i really enjoyed that piece. it had so much action in it, and you really see the characters romantic relationships with each other and the start of how theyll unfold. also you really see the depth of harry and dumbledores relationship, which they dont really show in the other films. i really enjoyed the film; i screamed and laughed and cried. so it really was all that i expected and more. the harry potter films keep out doing each other, and i cant wait for deathly hallows part 1!

This was a very,very good movie. In comparison to the other HP movies, this has a lighter feel to it, not as dark. There was more focus on the main characters and how each has matured emotionally. I think the 6th Harry Potter movie was amazing!! I really kiked how there was more humor in the movie and the special effects. Although it was a little dissapointing if you have read the book because the book just has so much more detail and they just cant have all of the detail in the movies because then the movies would be like 10 hours ong haha. As a stand along movie, a good story. As an adaptation of the sixth book, too much left out. The acting was good, the special effects were superb, and if you aren't loyal to the book you probably won't care at what was left out. However, anyone who has read the book will recognize that too much important stuff was left out in favor of "won-won" moments which we could have used less of. The romance is not the important bit, working towards defeating Voldemort is. At the end of this movie Harry is woefully under-informed, more so than in the books. I wonder how they will remedy that in the next two movies... WB doesn't even try to stay loyal to the story because they know the movie will be a success based on the fandom. Disappointing.

ok, as a huge HP fan i found this movie a bit disappointing. Definitely the best Harry Potter film so far! Everything including the soundtrack, cinema photography, the acting, the effects and the very, very fine details was superb. this movie was awesome! It stayed true to the book, but added a few surprises of its own too. I would definatly go see this movie, it is the best out of the potter series yet! The only problem is that i think they rated it wrong. this movie should have been rated pg-13, instead of pg, there were some parts a little mre mature then pg material. Overall, this movie was very entertaining, worth seeing, and a great story, just like the book.

This movie was very true to the rest of the Harry Potter series. The actors did a great job, the graphics were wonderful, and it was an overall delightful experience. Moive was way to long for everything that was in it. To much love story and following people around. There needed to be alot more action within the movie and what about the parts where they really never showed where people went? Was not impressed at all. Fans must be able to separate the books from the movies. This movie was exciting, funny, and heart-pounding, but left out many scenes from the book that were equally powerful and moving, as well as important to the plot. The scene in which Dumbledore's death took place, arguably the most powerful, showed Harry standing and watching and accepting Snape's request to be quiet, while in the book he was forced to witness it while under the invisibility cloak and unable to move. Are we to believe that Harry would indeed stand and watch his mentor and respected friend be killed without a fight? However, overall the movie was thouroughly enjoyable and I would recommend it to others.

Never mind that which preceded the movie: a 40 min trek to a theater that was not sold out at 12AM + tweens hollering out obscenities from preview to film. All in all, was it worth it? Indeed. If you don't regularly pore over the books like a certain cult of make-believe Hogwarts students. Don't get me wrong; I felt some sort of awe of the film that was not achieved by its predecessors. Charming. Witty. [Not] Cheesy. It is safe to say that the 6th installment was certainly my favorite. Choppy. Superficial. Anticlimactic. Too PG. Too much to stuff in 2 hrs 33 min, too little emphasis on what was included. Phenomenal acting from Tom Felton, Rupert Grint, and the like. Ending is questionable. But would I watch it again? Blimey, man, of course!

As an avid Harry Potter fan, (of both the books and the movies) I was extremely satisfied. I have read Half-Blood Prince, and the rest of them well over 15 times each. I love Joe Rowling's world, and this is the first movie that really conveyed her prime themes and really followed the book.
What I was most impressed with was the dialogue this film. Besides a handful of patchy additions, almost all the dialogue was direct from the book, which I greatly appreciated.
All in all, I think this film sheds light on the writer behind the story and brings Joe's witty humor and dark prose to life like never before. As a devoted Harry Potter fan and director, I give this my delighted stamp of approval.

But not quite as good as The Order of the Phoenix. Lots of humor, loved the teenage awkwardness. Loved the overall build-up and suspense, but felt they were rushing to many things visually without verbal explanations. For those of us that read the books the movie was great! But a few friends of mine were lost and couldn't follow along. So if you haven't read the books take a friend who did so they can explain things when you get lost. But as for my personal experience; GREAT MOVIE I plan to see again in the theater and own on DVD.

The movie overall was great. It was just missing something. The movie felt like a set up for the next potter movies that are coming out. HP 7: Part 1 and Part 2. The PG rating definitely did not feel like a PG rating more like a PG-13. This movie will get viewers ready for the upcoming movie and it was an overall stunning movie like all the other potter movies before it.

With the book fresh in my mind, the film was blatantly unrepresentative of the book. Facts were inaccurate (Luna finds Harry on the train instead of Tonks), scenes never described in the book were added (beginning train station scene), and important scenes were cut (battle against the Death Eaters), the parentheses naming only a few. Overacting was a big problem; the audience enjoyed a laugh at Ginny whispering "close your eyes" to Harry during the "romantic" Room of Requirement scene (which as it happens was not in the book anyway). The inclusion of many “funny” parts gave the impression the movie couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a cheap comedy or a cheesy soap opera. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, but this film was a disappointment.
