I liked the movie, but as a Harry Potter crazed reader I was disappointed that so many of the pensieve scenes didn't take place. The final castle battle and how Harry was frozen would have been nice. I felt the funeral scene would have been good. Not to mention poor Moaning Myrtle was eliminated... But, still as a Harry Potter crazy person I loved it and will see the imax version!

For avid HP fans, i dont recommend it. the first two movies were awful in terms of acting but after the 3rd movie, they turned a corner and got better. But then u get to the 6th. 1st of all, its pg. i expected this movie to follow suit with the 4th and 5th and be darker and more sinister like in the book. while its really funny at times, i didnt feel like the plot/movie flowed. the growing love interests between harry/ginny and hermoine/ron werent subtle at all. too many major plot deviations such as the weasley house burning and the lack of the epic battle scene at the end? i mean come on. that along with the murder of dumbledore is supposed to be the climax of the book. im hoping the next two movies for the 7th book are a lot better

The film is visually interesting, and the acting is perfectly adequate. However, the problem of HP 6 lies in the adaptation of the book. In the film version, the romance is blown out of proportion while the meaty Voldemort bits are relegated to the sidelines. Of course, the movies aren't meant to be perfect adaptations of the books, but in this case the writer passed up the opportunity to show cinematic scenes of Voldemort's youth and delve deeper into the serious issues that will confront the wizarding world in HP 7, and instead focused on teen love that rendered the movie pleasant but kind of...boring.

When I saw this movie today I was late and had to sit in the very front row! The movie was so good I didn't even think about my stiff neck. There was a few parts where the book triumphed over the movie but not many. I read the Half-Blood Prince 3 times and the 7th book 4 or 5 times. Of the six Harry Potter movies thus far, "Half-Blood Prince" is certainly the most mature of the lot. I question, therefore, why it received a PG rating. For Potter fans who have kept up with the books, this will be a refreshing review - but no more than that. "Half-Blood Prince" covers the basics of the 652 page book - such as the main relationships, the Ron-Hermione-Lavender love triangle and Harry and Ginny's beginnings, along with Voldemort's childhood and his hunt for Horcruxes. Even the final battle that is suppose to occur after Snape murders Dumbledore, is very anticlimactic, though it does tell that Severus Snape is the Half-Blood Prince.

Hp 6 was one of the best harry potters I have been to. Any one that likes harry potter will get this. Plus if you haven't read the books you will still under stand it. I would love to see it agian. I really enjoyed the movie, however, I have read the books, and I have to say that I was a little disappointed it did not follow the book more. I understand with budgets and the time frame allotted for the movie, but I felt there were several scenes that should have been added into this movie to make a smoother transition into the next movie. As a teenager with a very teenage sense of humor, I found this movie very entertaining - the whole movie was laced with heaps of innuendo. It also contained a couple of rude/explicit British terms that I definitely wouldn't label as PG (maybe they figure the younger kids haven't found Urban Dictionary yet), so I was pretty shocked when I realized that it had slipped by with a PG rating.
That said, some parts of it were very well done, others were a bit awkward - but I feel like the awkward parts were the same ones that were awkward in the book. Luna, Draco, and Bellatrix are all (again) very well played! Definitely worth seeing.

This movie was well done. The major details were, for the most part, true to the book, and the production and acting were quite good. The story isn't quite as action-packed as movies/books 4, 5, and 7, but it was still entertaining and full of revelations.
My only quibbles are that: a) it focused too much on the romances between Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny, and b) the beginning seemed to receive more attention than the climax of the story, which seemed rather rushed.

Honestly, I was very disappointed. While the movie was enjoyable to watch, book readers will cringe. It's been a fact of the HP series that certain aspects must be left out for running time purposes, but never has it been ok to create entire scenes (the burning burrow...?) which are not in the book, while skimping out on important detail in the book. The HP 6 movie is a let-down for any who liked the plot set down by the book. Of course it is difficult to portray characters' thoughts, budgets are finite, and the movie can not account for everything. However, my issue was that seriously altered scenes and scenes not present in the books were used. Plot lines, characters, and story chronology were unnecessarily warped, making the movie less enjoyable.
Another audience to consider is those who have seen only the movies, and not read the books. To that audience, the movie was a solid representation of the story laid forth by the previous films. There was intrigue, romance, and action to engage viewers, all along a definite storyline, with excellent visual effects to boot.

I personally feel that this movie was fantastic, although if you read the book you may be disappointed to find that some of the aspects of the book are missing.The ending was a little weak; there were a lot of parts missing from the book such as the white tomb and the big funeral, it ended rather abruptly after Dumbledore died. ... movie for those, like myself, that haven't read the books. The movie gives you an insight of the relationship between 4 characters in the awkward teenage stage. You won't find too many fighting sequences, which I presume the book does, instead you are looking into their soul, experiencing their feelings and following every emotional stage that they go through. This movie pretty much gets you ready for what is coming... the final battle and how far these new emotions take these 4 characters. I thought it was well written with excellent acting and awesome scenes. Don't read the Potter books until the last movie comes out that way you won't compare one with the other. Go to the movie and enjoy it... it's worth it!

This sixth film installment of the magial world of Harry Potter was WONDERFUL! A great flick for any fan of the series. It was much FUNNIER than I would have imagined, and the laugh was much needed. This film had it all, the special effects, the sensual tension, the comedy, and the powerful emotional moments, too! The theatre was stark silent at the peak of the movie, and you could tell everyone was astounded by the performance of the cast. I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I'll definitely be watching again very soon!

i just got into harry last year with my kids. they are excellent adventure movies, but i felt this movie lacked in that department. i definitely should not have wasted my time on it for the midnight premeire.....you all know that harry potter is very demonic, right?? dont cast these demon spells upon anyone

Hey guys. this movie was pretty good for condensing so much of the book. The end could have been a lot better. It was funnier than usual. If you didn't read the books, it might be kind of confusing at times. Um...I felt like a lot of the actors didn't really act as good as they did for movies 1-4. but maybe thats just me. Overall its pretty good. its not marvelous but its good.

HP6 delivered great effects, the actors were true to form and the script followed the book, although not as well as expected. Key moments were not all presented and some key players from HP6 the book that were introduced or re-introduced to provide background for events in HP7 were not even mentioned in HP6 the movie. Alan Rickman again delivered a superb Prof Snape and I look forward to seeing the HP7 & HP8 movies.
