The movie was good, but it felt as if they were trying to give more character development and background story to lead up to the next movie. There was some action, but most of the action was shown in the previews. At times the story seemed to drag a bit. I would recommend this movie to a true fan of the Harry Potter series, but not to someone who is looking for something with a lot of action.

I agree with the other reviews. A big disappointment to HP fans. I know there will never be a remake, as one fan hoped, but now I suggest that JK Rowling pay better attention to what is going on in the next movies. This one lacked a TON of plot line. You never knew much of the story behind Dumbledore's trips and we missed a lot of the Voldemort history. No fight scene, No Bill/Fleur introductions. Please, Please, Please.......if someone from the movie theatres reads these reviews, do us all a favor and do a better job in the next two movies.

As a fan of both the books and the movies, I left the premier disappointed. I felt they left out important parts of the back-story, especially as it relates to the young Tom Riddle, his evil acts as a young man and his quest for objects that are important to understanding the final movie. I watched the movie a second time the same day and was able to enjoy it more because my expectations weren't high. I truly hope that they stay true to the books in the last two movies and pay attention to the details which true Harry Potter fans will appreciate.

They Changed it allot from the books. Kept to the main story line ideas though, with equal addition and subtractions of scenes. Over all I enjoyed it, though. When I watch a movie base off a book I go in expecting it to be different :-)

This was the best Harry Potter movie I have seen yet. The character development, special effects, and overall cinematography were superb.
For all those who are complaining about it not being like the book, get over it. JKR didn't want the movies to be exactly like the books. Its the same story, just shorter and with a different route to the same destination.

Seems by having the same director for OOTP, THBP, and both installments of TDH, he has taken a bit of liberty with the story lines for the books knowing that he has 4 movies to put everything back together and finish the series. Things have been omitted, moved around, and changed to the point where fans of the books will be left scratching their heads. Non-readers will enjoy the movie, however, as it is chock full of special effects, humor, and love stories along with everything else expected from a Harry Potter movie.

This movie exceeded my expectations. It was filled with sarcasm, wit, humor, terror, suspense...I can go on forever. It was a dynamic movie which had me begging for more by the end. I love the fact that it was based on the relationships-- it truly adds to the character development. I thought the movie was good although it fell far short of storyline and plot of the book. The book took you on a far more fantastic ride than the movie.However, I expected this an my disappointment was lessened as were my three children, ages 12 and 10 year old twins...I would have liked to see more of the action scenes from the book but all in all I would recommend the movie.

Small spoiler alert! If you are subject to motion sickness, being a little late for this film won't go amiss for you. Beyond that if you have read the book you know everything that is going to happen. As many who have seen the previous films, this one is quite dark in color, making it hard to see some of the effects that they do. Here's to hoping that the last film will be lighter in color...but not reminiscent of the first film.

I thought HBP was an amazing movie and I loved it. Yes, the books are and will always be far superior, but as a movie it was very good. The movie, on its own, was a good one. However, if you are a fan of movies that stay true to the book, you will be slightly disappointed. The other 5 movies did a better job at keeping things in context. This one added several things that did not occur in the book, and changed some of the scenes which did occur in the book. Several important story building scenes were omitted. In my opinion, the powers that be wanted a more family friendly movie, as opposed to one that stayed true to the book. But, as with any other HP movie, it is a great movie to watch.

My husband and I have read all the books and seen all the movies and left the theater feeling slightly disappointed yesterday. It seems much time spent on teen angst and heartache could have been used to give more plot details to viewers who haven't read the books. Several characters weren't even seen in this movie...Voldemort being one. Viewers would rather sit through a long movie that have things omitted. With this series and it being so epic, it's worth it. There were no moving picture frames even! We would give this a B+/A- . It was almost there, but not quite.

If they aren't going to put in the movie-minutes and the money necessary to do these things right, then why do they bother doing them at all?
Why did they need to put in the completely fabricated storyline of blowing up the Burrow when there were so many poignant and exciting things that they left out which WERE actually in the story?
Not including Dumbledore's funeral at the end is disrespectful, incomplete and leaves the viewer with confused emotions.
Overall, just a money-making rip off of what could have been a well-translated book-to-screen film project!

I believe there was enough important parts of the book in this movie to keep it true to the story, although the book fanatics might disagree. I enjoy all the Harry Potter movies, but this one seems to be the best. A little was left out from the book, however, if it weren't, the movie would have been over 4 hours long. They did a great job! It was the darkest and saddest one yet, on the other hand, it did have some funny moments as well. Well done and I can't wait for the next one! I think I've already figured out what will happen....I'll see ;)

This was an excellent movie. It kept in line with the Harry Potter story line. It was filled with Adventure, suspense, thrills, young love, and much more. Harry finds a book belonging to the Half Blood Prince and it helps him succedd in potion making as well as other spells. They find Toms' secret to evil and we witness the death of a much loved character. I feel this is a must see movie for any fan of the Harry Potter Series.

Okay movie, however needed tofollow the book and explain things. If you didn't read the books, unable to follow,plus it left details out like the borrow burning, the ring of fire around the borrow. Harry dipping for water, things like that.

I really enjoyed the show. I went to the midnight release and had such a great time. The movie was funnier than the previous ones and I liked seeing the characters age and grow in their relationships. There are reviewers saying that the movie left them hanging - well I don't think it did. If those people really had read the books then they would know what comes next and wouldn't be complaining! Definitely a must see!

People who have read the book will likely be disappointed, while those who have not read it may well be confused, but both sorts of people are bound to enjoy the film. It has an unexpected comedy element, much of which stems form the fixation of the screenwriter and director on the slings and arrows of teenage affection that, in the end, appears to make snogging the thematical spine of the film. The acting is generally good, especially among those who are not part of the central cast: Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix just chews up the screen every time she appears (Her few scenes are alone worth the price of admission).
