If you read the Harry Potter books, you will be very disappointed in the movie. They leave out lots of important stuff. The things I looked forward to seeing the most either weren't in the movie at all, or it happened totally different in the movie from the way it did in the book. If I only watched the movies and never read the books I would be very confussed as to what is going on. READ THE BOOKS PEOPLE!

I think that this movie fit quite nicely within the movies and I am anticipating the 7th. I have read all 7 Harry Potters and the were awesome. This movie wasn't exactly like the book but that would be way too hard. I think the movie followed the main focus of the book, yet added some parts to engage the fans and keep them wanting more. so all of you people up there who said they left out parts from the book, none of the movies are exactly like the book because thats way too hard. Overrall this is now my favorite movie and I would recommend it to all people over 10. This movie was really sad at times scary at times and even romantic at times. All in all this movie had a lot of structure.

Hard movie to describe. What's really done well is the story-telling. In a Peter Jackson-esce story-telling manner, the viewer is drawn into the emotional stories and inter-personal relationships more than in previous movies - appropriate, as the characters are growing up and are dealing with "true teenage issues" like infatuation, anger, resentment, fear, jealousy and rage. I also appreciated the subtlety of all the magic - not being all the glitz and glam as before makes the magic appear very believable.
I just hate the cliff-hanger and all the things left out of the movies. I need a 4 hour extended edition that explains everything better.

I thought this was a very good interpretation of the book. I think you'll always wish for more detail from the book, but I think everything was fit in nicely. The actors have all grown so much since the first movie. I was very emotional at the end, so much so that I can't decide if I should take my 9 year old to see it. She's been devouring the books and movies this summer, and became very emotional at the end of Order. I'm not sure how she'd react to this ending. I can't wait for Deathly Hallows now!

The Half Blood Prince is full of set-up for the next two installments of The Deathly Hallows. Many storylines are forgotten or minimally brushed over. Other websites have praised Rickman's portrayal of Snape, but his actual screentime was minimal compared to Lav-Lav's. The bond between Dumbledore and Harry was worked on, but still a bit stiff. The caring that was conveyed in the books didn't seem to make it to this movie the way it should have. Gambon performed brilliantly, but Radcliffe's reactions to him (aside from the actual tower scenes) were wooden and weak. When Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of Bellatrix Lestrange was the most inspired and entertaining, there is clearly something sour in our Felix.

They should have paid me to see it. The story line with the teen relationships is under developed and the usual Voldamort story is underdeveloped.

This movie was so bad that I could hardly remember anything from the first half by the time I got home. It was a complete disappointment. Loved the movie, but I've read the books. There were parts in the book that were not captured in the movie, but not sure how you would get it all in without going to 2 movies. Strongly suggest the books first and then watching the movie. Makes it more enjoyable. Those that didn't read the book seem to think it was slow. Can't wait for the final movie. I heard it will be split into 2 movies.

I've liked most of the movie adaptations of the HP books so far. This one falls pretty short as far as plot and character development go. The scenes did not really connect to give a cohesive idea of what the true developments were... that of Harry's introduction to the past of Tom Riddle and how he is to destroy him, and that of the realization that Draco Malfoy has a job to do. Key points in the plot were not explained so much as just announced so they could move on to the next scene, focusing mostly on the love interests, which even then, weren't realized enough to do them justice in some cases. It was funny in places, i'll give it that.

I just saw this yesterday and I'm going to see it again today. This is the best Harry Potter movie so far in the series. As with every movie that gets made from a book, you're going to have everyone complaining about what they cut out and this and that. If you wanted a literal translation of the book, we would have a 5 hour movie and then complaints of it being to long, there have been omissions from every movie so far. All in all, this is an unbelievable movie and I loved every minute of it.

It's not as good as I had hope after reading the critics reviews online. However, it's not bad either. It is a nice movie but as the book, it's kind of lowkey in this one. They did a good job on capturing the youthful look of the actors/actress. It's a nice movie to watch and I thought they could do a bit better for the fighting scenes. The movie was very good. I was unexpectedly surprised that I really enjoyed the movie. I like when a movie follows the true story line from the novel, however in HP6 there were some diversions from what was written and I found that it fit. Those things could have happened. They did leave a few scenes out that I think were crucial to the overall telling of the story, however I understand that there was only time for the main points within the movie. I am talking especially about the end scene from the book after the astronomy tower fight. Also the very end of the book would have been nice to see, white tomb.

Well I thought the movie was disappointing overall as I loved the books and had just read it before going. Certain plots were left out that would have been beneficial to the viewer. I think they should have made this one into a 2 parter also as it would have been nice to see the plots develop that were in the book and they should have included the funeral scene at the end. The scene they added that was not from the book was in my opinion not needed as anyone who read the series knows that there is some major parts of the last book that take place at the house the death eaters destroyed.

By this time, we expect the movies to deviate greatly from the books, so this was as expected. Some friends joined us that had not read the books, and they were pretty lost, but we enjoyed this one just as much as the previous movies. Can't wait for the next one!

This movie picks up right where the last one left off and if you haven't kept up with all the other books/movies then you might be a little lost. Half Blood Prince is an excellent flick and well worth your time and money. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. As a standalone film, everything was sooo good. Character development, flow of the story, build up to the climax, and even the "to be continued" ending. However, as a fan of the books I was a little let down. One of the main focuses of Half Blood Prince is the exploration of Voldemort's past through the pensieve memories. Several were omitted from the movie which I felt were critical to establishing the background to the most powerful dark wizard of all time. I feel for the people who have not read the books. They may be a bit confused when Deathly Hallows opens next November. All in all, a very enjoyable experience full of very fun moments and even more memorable characters.

I particularly liked the comical parts of the movie - if you're looking for a good laugh, this is a good occasion - teenage romance mixed with characters goofing up (especially Ron Weasley and Seamus Finnigan) makes it a laugh guaranteed - and Dumbledore's subtle little phrases makes the humor a little bit more refined. It's too bad some parts were left out, but then it's hard to fit the entire book in.

As other people have stated, this movie was a dissapointment. The sixth book was my absolute favorite because it had a lot of backstory- it explained in depth the childhood of Voldemort, the history of the Black family and the Malfoy family. It also explained more in depth how Dumbledore got the ring horcrux- which will become very important in the next movie. Also- they put in a scene that doesn't even happen in this book- when Ron's house is set on fire! That happens in the 7th book. Overall I think they could have left out a lot of the romantic scenes, and put in more important information. It was a huge dissapointment.

The sixth Harry Potter was the best movie in the series to date. As the books went on they took on a darker, more serious tone which this movie did a great job of capturing. While the exploration of Voldemort/Tom Riddle's history could have been more defined as in the book, the characters in the movie did a wonderful job of expressing emotion, particularly Harry toward the end of the movie. The scenes of Harry taking the Felix potion were quite entertaining. Overall this was a great movie that really makes you anticipate the last two films.

This movie differs from the book but tries to hit all the high points. It captures the gist but of course excludes details, and details are what make the story so special. Still, as a movie there is plenty to like, and I did enjoy it. My kids and their friends did also. In fact, it is one of the better films in the series, but I will always need to return to the books. Do see it, and enjoy.
