I went in to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow part 2 having read several reviews, so I already had some expectations. I was not as disappointed as the reviews told me I should be, in fact I was not disappointed at all. Essentially this was one big epic finale with some huge emotional high points. You really feel an emotional connection with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and especially Snape who's true story is finally revealed. I've read some reviews that complain about the underwhelming ending, but think about it: Yes they've won, but think about what they've lost.
Needless to say, I was not disappointed. As a standalone film, everything was sooo good. Character development, flow of the story, build up to the climax, and even the "to be continued" ending. However, as a fan of the books I was a little let down. One of the main focuses of Half Blood Prince is the exploration of Voldemort's past through the pensieve memories. Several were omitted from the movie which I felt were critical to establishing the background to the most powerful dark wizard of all time. I feel for the people who have not read the books. They may be a bit confused when Deathly Hallows opens next November. All in all, a very enjoyable experience full of very fun moments and even more memorable characters.
