I was a little skeptical going into the movie. I have heard the critics rant and rave, but in my mind the part of the Joker was created for Jack Nicholson. I didn't think that Heath had the caliber to take on such a role.
Damn, was I wrong.

This was my first Batman movie and it was the best action flick I have seen. Acting, makeup, stunts were all highly executed and the fast pace kept everyone's interest. Definitely a go see movie and can't wait for the next one!

This was a very thought provoking movie. Good story line, good acting and good special affects. This batman broke new ground with a little bit of a political agenda concentrating on the overall goodness in people and moral character. I thought it was very well done and would highly recommend it.

This movie is the best movie I have seen all year. Everyone does such a great job that you forget they are actors and get lost in the story. It's longer than you expect but it never drags.

This movie was incredible from well developed characters to awesome acting. Heath Ledger had his best performance and truly captured the "evil" that is Joker. Maggie Gyllenhaal also took Rachel and made it her own.

Not sure if this movie met the amount of hype around it, but it was very good. The scenes move very quickly (like a comic book) so that took away from the dramatic effect. Action packed until the very end, it's like plot after plot after plot. Maggie Gyllenhall annoyed the crap out of me, I almost wished Katie Holmes was still in it.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Batman character but the men in my family (ages 46 and 17) insisted that I would have a good time in this movie and they were right! I loved the Joker's character and all of the action kept me on the edge of my seat!

Heath Ledger's performance is extraordinary. I never really cared about him or the controversy surrounding his death, but now I see that he was a person on his way up in the world. This is a great old-school action movie the focus is on the plot and the characters and not all the cgi. Go see it!

Heath Ledger gave the best performance of his career in this film. This film's rendition of the Joker character is a far cry from the Jack Nicholson character in Tim Burton's original classic. All the acting is outstanding and stands on its own two feet, as opposed to relying on flashy digital shots or pointless violence. It is without a doubt the greatest of the Batman movies and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Before seeing Dark Knight, Batman (with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson) was on my top five movies of all time -- Dark Knight told such a great tale that it pushed 1989's Batman off of the top ten!

Be advised that this is not a typical super hero movie. The negative reviews I read were a mix of people who thought they could take their children, or wanted to see a superman like batman save the day, or they wanted action adventure. This is a dark movie, and most people don't understand how conflicted Batman was written in the comic books. The genre and PG-13 held this movie back from being an Apocalypse Now type movie, and well it should. Heath Ledger recreated the Joker without totally redining it; he was light years beyond Nicholson or Romero. All the sub characters have subtle yet powerful lines. I need to see it again.

The plot(s) in this movie are great. with abotu 40 minutes left in the movie it seams as tho the movie could be over. Then a new story starts with 40 minutes left in the movie. It is like you get 2 movies in one. I recommend this movie to everyone.
The only part I thought was cheesey was the voice Batman used. It was so raspy that it was hard to understand the character at times.
