Be advised that this is not a typical super hero movie. The negative reviews I read were a mix of people who thought they could take their children, or wanted to see a superman like batman save the day, or they wanted action adventure. This is a dark movie, and most people don't understand how conflicted Batman was written in the comic books. The genre and PG-13 held this movie back from being an Apocalypse Now type movie, and well it should. Heath Ledger recreated the Joker without totally redining it; he was light years beyond Nicholson or Romero. All the sub characters have subtle yet powerful lines. I need to see it again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
