In my opinion the best super hero movie ever made. The action is not overwhelmed by cheesy computer generated graphics. The images are real and hard to forget. Heath Ledger's performance is mind blowing. He portrays the true persona of what the joker really was...sick and twisted. The only disappointment in this movie is that Ledger's Joker will never return.

I must preface this with the fact that I think that Batman Begins is bar none the BEST superhero movie ever. Great action, great acting, great plot and character development. Now I have been waiting THREE years for the next installment. And everytime I saw Christian Bale or Heath Ledger in another movie I would get plssed off and say "Why arent you making Batman?!? Get back in the studio and finish it already!!!" So I have been EAGERLY awaiting this film and with all the hype it had me whipped up into a frenzy. So going in my expectations were high, really high. And after seeing it, I must say, unequivacally, it did NOT disappoint in the least. The action will leave you gasping with awe. But even with stellar ensemble cast, the true gem that stood out here was Heath Ledger. If you didnt already know if was Heath, you would never recognize him. He transforms the way he looks, the way he talks, even body posturing. He twisted himself into this mad dog crazy psychotic with the most sinister and maniacal laugh in celluloid history. But his act is so convincing and sincere, by the film's end you almost feel a sense of pity for this seriously disturbed sad clown. The movie, from the opening sequence to the rolling credits, was absolutely phenomenal. I can't wait to own it on DVD

It is nice that for once a movie lives up to the hype. This second installment from the Nolan/Bale combo is another excellent take on the true comic storyline that is Batman. From the opening scene to the credits this movie is riding on all cylinders. Ledger, as the Joker, steals the show with his take on this villanous character. He plays the part perfectly and makes me remember why I fell in love with the comics as a kid. This is truly one of those movies that any fan of action or comic heroes should watch as soon as possible

Bop! Boom! Bang! Holy Schnikeys Batman! This movie is action packed from start to finish.
Hype or no hype, Heath ledger stole the show as the Joker. Not to say that the other actors did not do a good job, because they did a great job. Christian Bale was as expected, and Morgan Freeman was entertaining. I could have done without Maggie Gyllenhall but Katie Holmes wasn't any better in Batman Begins. This is basically a movie that most people should see in the theater. However, it's probably a little dark for kids. I would watch this movie again just to enjoy Heath's performance a second time. Also, there was a preview at the beginning for a new Terminator movie starring Christian Bale - now that's what I'm talking about!

I too thought the hype would ruin the movie, but my husband and I really liked it a lot! It was very action packed and you really get into the characters. Heath Ledger was amazing as the joker. I figured they were glorifying his role because of his death, but that is far from the truth. He does a fantastic job as the joker! The whole cast was fantastic!

I have been waiting for the movie since filming began and it was worth the wait!!! Heath Ledger is the creepiest criminal character ever!!! HE IS THE MOVIE!!! This movie is not for anyone under 18!!! That PG-13 rating is highly wrong!!! In general, it was an excellent movie. Some of the dialogue was boring though. And sometimes the music drowned the conversations. Maggie Gyllenhall is not a good Rachel. A good substitute to Katie Holmes could have been Rachel McAdams!!! Oh and two-face was awesome too!!!

At two hours and thirty minutes I was scaredthat this movie would be slow and boring. However, I couldn't turn away this was the best movie I've seen this year. Incredible. Well done.

It was a good movie, I didn't like the views from the tops of the buildings though the camera angles made me sick. I like the movie because even though it is long you don't feel like it is, non stop action and just when you think you have it figured out you don't. Good ending. Very much a thought provoking movie. The make up for the DA was nothing short of fabulous, and the special effects as well as the stunt work was out of this world. The person doing the driving of the batmobile and that motorcycle had me and my husband starting at each other like" how in the world did they do that? ":

All I can say is you should actually GO to a movie theater to see this movie. A good one with a big screen. It is by far worth the price of admission. Heath Ledger should win the Oscar for his performance.

Although this movie was interesting, especially compared to many of the cookie cutter 40 year old virgin-esque movies of late, it doesn't live up to any expectation. True, the ethical situations presented in the movie may seem disturbing and unexpectedly entertaining, but these are no more than glorified re-runs of every ethical philosophies know to man. The pacing in the movie is erratic and there isn't a set climactic point in which we can all enjoy discussing over a beer or dinner table. Dare I say the Dark Knight was a disappointment?

What was a nickname for Batman ("The Dark Knight") takes on a whole different meaning in a sequel that tops its predecessor.
Heath Ledger makes you forget about Jack and Ceaser and Christian Bale IS Batman. The rest of the cast excels in keeping the rollercoaster moving briskly along.
2.5 Hours never went by so fast. I can't wait to see it in IMAX.

Like a good disaster movie, a good superhero movie should focus on the surrounding characters. Batman is a force- unstoppable, unwavering, and uncontrolled.
It's the characters around him that change and react. The Dark Knight is about all of these characters dealing with the actions of Batman as he tries to save the city. Gordon, as he deals with his force; Harvey, trying to be the hero Batman cannot be; Rachel, living her plan B; Bruce, trying to deal with who Batman must become to save Gotham.
Don't worry, Batman will get his screen time. But it is much eclipsed by The Joker. The perfect foil to Batman, he exists for no purpose, but is just as unstoppable. When the two clash across the city, everyone must make their choices defining what it means to be good and to be a hero, even if those choices are never perfect.

Great film. The rhythm of this movie is tuned perfectly. The music that frames the actions sequences is right on; the score is one of the true main characters. The screenplay is perfectly balanced with traditional comic book type-phrases and modern action/ thriller lines.
The acting goes without saying. Heath is not the only brilliant star in this film. I would say Eckhart, Caine, Freeman, Oldman, and Bale contribute to the overall quality of this movie. Heath is to never be forgotten in this role though...wow!
I am not a Fan of Maggie G. She was not beautiful enough to be fought over by Wayne and Dent. Sorry. Not at all believable.
This is an instant front runner in the Super Hero Genre.

I may be a lone voice here, but I thought it was good but not excellent. Don't get me wrong...there are many aspects to a film that make up whether it was amazing or not, and in my opinion this film falls short in some of those aspects.
The great aspects: Excitement A+ Non-stop action A++ Special effects A+ Joker A++ Commissioner Gordon A+ Alfred A+ CEO Morgan Freeman A+
Okay, now my criticisms: Not enough character development of Bruce Wayne or Rachael. Unlike the Spiderman movies that spend a lot of time showing you the "man behind the mask" and his humanness, I think Batman showed you very little of who Bruce Wayne was and his own personal challenges/demons. When the movie was over, I felt like Bruce was a stranger to me. I get that he's obviously dedicated to being Batman, but I really didn't see why he felt so strongly that it was his personal duty and why he was willing to sacrifice so much to be Batman.
Rachael was such a "plain jane," with no real charisma, personality, or sass, so I didn't get why these two hot-shot guys were in love with her.
I thought the Joker was really good and created a very memorable character, but it was a little distracting to me how his acting, to me, resembled Christian Slater's psycho-guy acting. (though you could argue that Slater's doing a Jack Nicholson...so maybe they're all doing Jack Nicholson really...) But Ledger was VERY good--it was his movie really, Batman was a co-star.
Okay, some other random criticisms...the action was nonstop but sometimes it was hard to figure out what was going on. It was so fast at times, it was hard to follow what was happening (especially car chases in the dark). That was a little frustrating.
The movie was LONG. Be prepared--VERY LONG. (kinda like this review...) :) Those who think the movie is THE BEST EVER will love the length...those who don't will find it long. Think of it this way, some people wished "Titanic" would have been a 12 hour movie. Other's would have rather stuck needles in their eyes than watch Titanic for 12 hrs. I think Batman is a guy's movie and maybe if you're not QUITE as enthralled as everyone else, better hope you picked a comfy seat.
Okay, all that being said, I can appreciate what Batman means to cinema. I do think it is probably the most action-packed movie ever created--I've never been to a movie that could have satisfactorily ended like 5 times but kept going! (meaning it had MULTIPLE movie-wrapping-worthy moments, but the directors weren't done giving the audience more and more!) That's pretty cool. I can appreciate that--it is like a decadent orgy of action--you get your money's worth in this movie like no other. Especially in this economy where everyone's looking to stretch their dollars...this movie gives you at least 2 admission tickets worth of action.
Plus I never found any of it to be "fake-looking" computer special effects, like you see on Spiderman or Star-Wars, for instance. Fake computer-generated graphics are so distracting. Finally, interesting camera angles add to the creepiness of the Joker, especially at the end of the movie. The director made some nice out-of-the-box choices that made you think a little.
That's it! You're going to see it anyway, and you'll love it. Go on. :)

Overall I thought the movie was fantastic. It was better than I expected and with the hype that was talked about it i was afraid I might have been getting my expectations too high. This movie exceeded my expectations. Heath Ledgers performance as the joker is the best yet. It is the best movie he has ever made and with his tragic death sadly his last finished movie. I loved how the jokers make up wasnt perfect the entire time and how creepy and sadistic Heaths character was. Great movie full of fantastic actors and actresses. Go see it!!

I'm not really a big fan of the whole batman series, but I kept hearing good things about it, and decided to see it for myself.

We tried to go see this movie opening morning but everywhere was sold out, and I can see why! This movie had everything: joy, tears, suspense, drama, explosions, and tons of action! Even a little romance for us girls. Very well rounded movie. I forgot that the Joker was Heath Ledger, he was so immersed in the character. And of course Christian Bale was HOT. There are a few points in the movie that make you think, especially the end, if you've followed the Batman story at all. Really, really good movie! :)
