I am so happpy that they actually let the dark knight play in the theaters. I loved Heath Ledger's acting and overall the movie stunned me. I just wanted more and more from the movie. I felt that it was not long enough though. The two face was preety cool too.

This is one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. I am sure I will go see it again in the theaters. The drama surrounding Heath Ledger's death truly got to the audience. Right as the movie started the entire theater was silent. I have never heard a theater that quiet. It truly lived up to the hype and Heath Ledger's performance was legendary as the Joker. It's a shame Heath was taken from us so young, but his legacy will live on through this movie.

This movie was superb, the effects and the actors were great!!! I going to see it again just because I felt like I missed a lot, it was so much. The joker and two faced characters were the best. I think this was the best Batman movie.

Simply put, this is one of the most amazing films I have seen in a long, long time. As a long time Batman fan I truly know what it takes to fill the Joker's clown shoes and I believe that Heath Ledger did that and then some. With his truly chilling performance and Christopher Nolan's role as the Batman this is a battle of not only two great actors but two great characters as well. It is a shame that Ledger will not be able to reprise the role!

The words "superhero action movie" and "Oscars" are rarely used in the same review however... this film may be the exception. Both Christian Bale and Heath Ledger gave remarkable performances. The Joker was as disturbing as any villian I've seen in recent history - a truly believable degenerate. These two characters were believable as "real men" whos abilities were not muddied with implausable cheap theatrics. Viewers are left thinking that "it coulda happened". I smell nomination for Mr. Ledger and hopefully the movie in general. Bottom line... really good storyline, endearing character performances from Michael Cain, Gary Oldman & Morgan Freeman, good ethical debate topics, and just a great ride! Will see it several more times. By the way, Katie Holmes was never believable or interesting as Rachel - thanks to Maggie G. the character was saved

This. Movie. Is. Utterly. Spectacular. Period.
And I am not just saying that: Every facet of this movie is extraordinarily crafted and completely sublime. The storyline is captivating and unusually dark for most movies in this genre. Emotional undercurrents seem omnipresent, yet they do not overload the movie with cheesy scenes - In fact, they complement the rest.
The actors are phenomenal in their roles, to the point where you forget these are real people acting and find yourself believing there really is a deranged schizophrenic psychopath murdering countless just for the fun of it. And you're next.
The makeup is perfect for each character: very convincing, yet essential to each personality. The set, too, was masterfully crafted, and the special effects don't make you feel patronized by their lack of realism. In fact, they scare you before you can remind yourself that you are sitting safely in a theater.
I do apologize to everyone who thought that "Iron Man" would be the movie of the year. I'm afraid they will be thoroughly disappointed come Oscar time, because "The Dark Knight" will take the cake. Then all the Academy Awards.
If you have not seen this movie yet, turn off your computer, dash to your car, race to your nearest theater, and get your tickets. NOW. I guarantee that this will be the best two-and-a-half hours you spend in a dark room the entire year.

Quite probably the most well crafted film of all time. We already knew Heath Ledger's performance was the role of a lifetime. And still I was surprised how far he exceeded my expectations. Christian Bale once again proves himself as top young actor of his generation. Better even than Batman Begins.

The Dark Night was incredible, absolutely incredible. It was dark, unpredictable, and chock-filled with elements that left you on the edge of your seat, wide-eyed and shocked the entire movie. Heath Ledger was 100% perfect for the role of The Joker. I would go so far as to say he was the best villian pop culture has ever seen. I would recommend The Dark Knight to everyone over the age of 15.

Every actor did a wonderful job. The movie did not have 1 weak character or actor at all. I would recommend this movie to anyone. The movie was 10x better than the last Batman movie. I am not a huge fan of movies based on comics but this movie was great. You can tell they put a lot of work into the film. w5c

I would highly recommend this movie. If you liked the first movie you will love this one. Last hour drags slightly, plot and some minor characters are hard to keep up with, but this a minor annoyance. Great movie one of my top faves, great acting. Puts other comic based movies to shame.

Nineteen years ago I attended a midnight screening of Tim Burton's "Batman" and it locked in my fanboyish nature when it comes to The Dark Knight...since that eve, it has been extremely rare a film has brought such joy to me, but it is no shock that "The Dark Knight" does that and more. Yes, Ledger's performance is AMAZING, but the film as a whole is amazing, too. This is one to remember. One to own. One to be talked about for years. It's raised the bar. And I have already seen it twice and can't wait to go again. So. Good. Thank you to everyone involved with this project...AMAZING!

Hollywood seems to be getting it when it comes to the comic book crowd. We are demanding. Yes, we want the best special effects and costumes, but it falls flat without the story and the character development. The Dark Knight delivers it all. The story is filled with tough questions--the kind with no right answers...and not just the obvious ones. Of course Christian Bale delivers an excellent performance, as always. I don't need to tell you how boggling the performance by Ledger was, but he wasn't Heath Ledger in this movie. His performance was so immersing that he did not let himself show through the character for one second. He WAS the joker.
In short, this movie delivers and delivers in such a way that you don't have to be into comic books to be taken in.

I felt that there was not a single moment in the movie where I was not drawn into the plot. The funny thing is that I have not even seen Batman Begins, and yet I was still able to follow along with the story line. The graphics for the movie was an orchestra of flawless action, making everything seem purely realistic. The performance of the actors leaves no doubt in my mind that there will be a few awards to be had.

It is actually hard to describe in words the amazement of this film. In times like these is when I cherish the work of film critics who can find the more appropriate syntax to put a movie in its rightful place. The Dark Knight just simply devours your attention for 150 minutes non-stop with incredible scenes, an unarguable incredibly smart plot, first rate acting by all of its performers, and most notable... the disturbingly maniacal and psycological challenge of the Joker's persona, I dare to say this to be Ledger's twisted "opera prima". I just saw this movie last night and can say that I had a hard time getting to sleep. The story reverberated in my head... Batman's TRAGEDY of being the hero in the dark, and the grimm yet satisfying ending will have me in continuous awe for days to come.

In a world that is increasingly driven by forces seemngly beyond our control, , it is good to know that there are forces out there that work on our behalf!
Perhaps not in the way we wish they would, but in the only way possible under the circumstances and given what is ULTIMATELY at stake.
That is what the Batman represents. Ina World filled with Jokers ( Osama Bin Laden, The President of Iran. ) and his henchman ( AlQaeda, my neigbors...) would to God we had protectors like Batman, Commisioner Gordon, and thier friends,. ( I believe that we do.)
So, yeah, an excellent cool thrilling, stunning moive that transcends the 'superhero' Gendra, and is, in and of itself, a revelation, and a masterpiece.

The Dark Knight is one great movie. Heath Ledger's performance is over the top - incredible. I know this is kind of weird, but it occurred to me that villains in Batman stories never die in the end - always left open is the possibility - and even likelihood - of their return. But how could ANYONE come back and play the Joker after THIS? Then it occurred to me...what if Heath Ledger isn't really dead? What if his death was an elaborate ruse so that the return of the Joker could be the biggest surprise in movie history? Oh, I'm sure it's not true, but if so - you heard it here first.

I thought this movie was beyond great! Christian Bale was just as good in this one as he was in Batman Begins and what can I say about Heath Ledger, he was wonderful. You can't call this movie a superhero movie because it surpasses that. I take my hat off to the writers and producers for writitng such a great movie.
With this movie BATMAN shows that he isn't a mere superhero.

This movie has surpassed all the hype that has precluded its release. I don't believe the acting was all that astounding except for that of Heath Ledger or maybe his depiction was just so good that the other actors performances paled in comparison. I went into this movie doubting the accuracy of the critiques given to his performance, believing that there was a large part of sympathy going into their thinking. The fact of the matter is, the movie would have failed to deliver without him and his delightfully creepy character depiction of an usually cartoonish role. Bravo to the whole cast and crew for a very action-packed, adrenaline soaked, richly storied 2 1/2 hour entertainment buffet. When it was over I couldn't eat another morsel.
