This movie was alot better than Batman Begins. Heath Ledger out did Jack Nicholson as the Joker (and Jack was damn good). The movie was action packed from start to finish, really liked how the Batmobile transformed into the Batpod, overall this movie was well done. I recommend that everyone goes to see this movie. I will definitely be adding this movie to my DVD collection when it comes out!

utterly amazing..the first movie in a very long time that i actually saw the characters and not the actors playing the characters, and was to involved in the movie to pick out plot holes and knit pick, only complaint is the music at the end is to loud covering up the last speech which was quite irritating but overal completly edge of your seat thrill ride, both in action and gripping emotional and mental suspence

This movie was fantastic. NOBODY got up during the entire film (which is saying a lot considering the movie was longer than 2 hours). I give it an A+ I'm going to see it again next week in IMAX!

The first thing you notice about this movie is the marketing. This is NOT a movie for the faint of heart (including children). This is specifically for adults looking for a good action-drama. Solid performances on all sides, and not to be a band wagon jumper, but notable credit goes to Heath Ledger, who does not give a performance, but becomes the character (and I only fell remorse that a talented actor has died, I don't think he should be awarded because he died, rather I think he should be rewarded for exactly what everyone else is rewarded for...the way they lived). His performance is stellar!
No cheesy comic book scenes/lines either. Comic books are nothing if not cheesy, but it works for them. However, the problem with these movies is they tend to try to "be true to the original story". Works for some movies, but now for most. The revamping of the Batman series has done away with that. This movie especially has brought a new, believable light to the story. Easily shown by the fact that though he does get a new wardrobe, there are no bat suit nipples here.
I tend to be a skeptical movie goer. I don't appreciate wasting my time and money on overpriced garbage, but I did get my money's worth this time. As a skeptic, I am constantly guessing the next scene in the movie. I'd I guess right about 70-80% of many of the movies I see, which is a real downer, but The Dark Night sent me for a world wind. At firs I was guessing correctly, but as the mayhem of the joker unraveled, so did my predictive abilities.
Overall, a great movie. Worth spending for the over priced tickets. Even though I am from Chicago and can recognize almost all of the landscape, Gotham City has was one place I'd like to visit again.

I have loved Batman for pretty much my whole life. This movie made me fall in love all over again! So wickedly twisted and so beautifully written. I could watch this movie for days on end and never get bored.

This is the first Batman film where the character of the villian was extremely strong and Batman himself was not totally upstaged (but don't be deceived it was HEATH'S film). It was so well written and thought out. As for HEATH, there are no words. He just ....... That is all I can say of his performance. He made the movie but you will not forget Christian Bale, Michael Cane, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. Just be mindful of the LENGTH of this film when you buy your ticket. LOL.

Simply stunning. A tad bit too long, but overall and excellent film. Heath Ledger plays an amazing Joker. Hats off to the entire cast. The effects weren't too heavy either, and the few twists only added to the complexity of the plot. Truly a must see.

Well, overall I would say the the movie did not live up to the previous one. Ledger, Caine and Freeman were great, of course, but the weak script and apparent distracted direction let everything else down. Within minutes of the opening, the audience began to chuckle over the vapid one-liners, and Batman's random, husky voice provided much amusement by the end of the flick.
Too bad. It should have been amazing given the reputation of everyone involved.
No reason to watch on the big screen, video'll do ya fine.

This is definitely one the best movies I've ever seen. It contained great special effects, superb acting by much of the major cast, and a great plot line. Even though I know how the movie is suppose to go, I still was on the edge of my seat. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Batman fan, from Adam West to T.A.S., from from the serials of the 40s to the newest comic. When I heard Heath Ledger was as casted as the Joker, my stomach flipped. When I found out that the Joker painted his face on, I was horrified. Then The day came, I saw on Friday at the 730 show. Not 10 minutes after it ended I was buying the tickets for next Saturday to watch it at the Imax theater. Not only did this movie not dissapoint, it surprised at how well Heath captured the true spirit of the Joker. I also love the surprise villian they put in the end (although we hardcore fans weren't really surprised) Over all, go watch the movie....twice.

Heath was brilliant. He was able to make a villain funny, scary, and someone who I honestly felt compassion for. That is extremely hard to do. The rest of the cast was chosen perfectly. I was a little disappointed in the character of Rachel Dawes but the Joker outweighed that feeling. By far, better than I anticipated, and I had very high expectations.

This movie kept me riveted from beginning to end. I thought that seeing this movie would make me sad throughout because this was Heath Ledger's last movie, but he did so well as the joker that you aren't even thinking it's him the whole time, because he is the joker. The action sequences are uttely fantastic, and even though this is a darker batman, you will still laugh through the length of this movie, they don't call him the joker for nothing.

Though I heard great reviews from everyone I went into the movie with low expectations but by the time I left I could not have had enough! This movie left me amazed and saddened by Heath Ledger's fearless performance. Saddened, because he will never have the chance to top it. The rest of the movie was very good. Maggie Gillenhal was a great improvement over Katie what's her name. The special effects were tremendous especially a wild car/truck/batmobile chase. Great plot twists and depth in characters made this very intriguing but It was tough to find the insane joker as the most likeable character in the movie.

Took my kids to see it yesterday. Every time I looked at my 7th grader, his mouth was wide open. Some of the stunts (all involving the Joker) we amazing. Heath was one of the best roles I have ever seen portrayed. But don’t discount Bale. They proved to be one of the best on screen Hero/Villain roles EVER. We loved it.
Now for the not so positives. I made the mistake of purposefully not asking others their opinion and based my decision to allow my younger child see it on reviews and the rating. DO NOT TAKE YOUNGER CHILDREN. The Joker is one bad dude and his scenes are demented and creepy and awesome and funny, all of which scared the you know what out of my daughter. She closed her eyes almost the whole time he was on screen.
GO SEE THIS MOVIES. You are crazy to let it pass thru the theater without seeing it.

Christian Bale continues to impress. He's definately grasped the concept of drama. It will be interesting to see how he carries himself in the comedy arena some day.
That said, Heath Ledger stole the show. I don't fault Bale for not carrying his own. The role of "The Joker" was definately one which provided more to work with than the dark and brooding hero. Ledger, however added more to it than Nicholson and Romero combined. His dark and chaotic personality brought an eerie mood to the film that brought it to the edge of horror.

One of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. The late Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar nomintuion for his role of the Joker. The movie work and overall plot was very good. I know I'm going to receive negative feedback for my take on this movie. I’ll admit I'm not a huge batman franchise fan, however there were glaring story/plot problems in this film IMO.
First the Good Stuff. Visually this movie was stunning. Awesome cinematography and CGI. Heath Ledger was great as the Joker. Bale was very good as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Alfred was great as always too.
Now for the bad. First of all Maggie Gyllenhaal’s acting was bad. She is also not attractive enough to be opposite Bruce Wayne. She doesn’t fall into the class of “leading lady with great looks”. . . sorry.
I can’t really divulge into the story problems without ruining it for people who haven’t seen it. Lets just say some of the decisions that the character’s make don’t make any sense. In particular Harvey’s later story line is such a stretch, I think it would have been better to leave it out of the film completely. Also Batman deciding to retire about 4 times in the movie was totally ridiculous.
I know it’s a fantasy movie but that doesn’t mean the audience should just accept a force-feed story that is neither set up well or executed in any type of believable way. Too many elements were pulled into what should have been a mono – mono battle of Batman and the Joker. It’s disappointing, because Ledger performance was quite memorable and it’s unfortunate he wasn’t the total focal point of the film, in what was ultimately was his last hurrah.

WOW!!! Honestly, I went into this hoping that I would get to watch the best comic book movie I have ever seen. What I watched was one of the best MOVIES I have ever seen! Heath Ledger is so disturbing as The Joker that I found myself extremely uncomfortable at times. The cast is phenomenal and the bar has been set so high that while I would love to see them make a third installment, I am not sure that they can make another this good.

Ledger's Joker has to be the best, evilest, most genius villain in the history of comic movies.
