I absolutely LOVED this movie - the action sequences were fantastic, the star studded cast only added to the appeal - Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal and of course, Mr. Heath Ledger - who by all accounts deserves a post-humous Oscar nod for his portrayal of the Joker. His physical acting as well as his voice and the "tics" he created for the character just went above and beyond my expectations. This further confirms my theory that he was one of the best actors of this generation. What a damn shame - he will be missed.
Go see this movie - you won't regret it!!!

Very good movie. However, I think they gave us about 20-30 minutes too much to process. At a couple points in the movie, I thought...ok this is a good ending spot. But they kept going for another 45 minutes. Great acting. Great cinematography. Great Set production. Just a little too long.

Although the hero does his job and saves the day, this film does not leave the audience with a sense of justice by movie's end. This movie was full of action. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes things that are really exciting. I would not suggest going to the movie at a late showing if your not a late night person. The movie was very long 2:30 long to be exact. The new Batman movie lived up to its exspectation and was a thrill to watch. We have considered going back a second time to see it because it was that good. Each actor played the part to such a perfection and everything went together so smoothly. There were numerous times I thought it was about over but yet the movie continued with more surprises around each corner.
Anyone that hasn't seen this yet is really missing out and should go immediately to see this for it will not disappoint!

I was worried all the talk about this movie!! I figured "the more hype, the worse it'll come across", total opposite!!! I'm partial to Batman as he was my favorite super hero as a kid, and I must say this movie made me realize that I picked the right hero!
I also have to give props to Heath Ledger, I thought nobody could ever out do Jack Nicholson (especially in a role like the Joker) but he blew Jack out of the water!
All in all, WONDERFUL movie! Will definately be adding it to my DVD collection once it's released!

A dash of Depp, a modicum of Malkovich, and a whole lotta Ledger, simmer slowly and you've got the Joker the way he was intended. If you're sick of reading and hearing about how great Heath Ledger was in The Dark Knight, fasten your seat belt because you are about to hear more. There will be no debate about whether Nicholson was better. He wasn't. Gone are the days of the laughing Caesar Romero of a Joker. This is a twisted, scary, psychotic killer of a Joker. I may even have nightmares about him. Had Heath Ledger lived he may never have been able to play another part. This was the performance of a lifetime. A change in the way we see Batman is afoot as well. The Dark Knight becomes just that, an outlaw of a hero, misunderstood and reviled. The transition is handled skillfully in this film continuing where Batman Begins ended and subtlety morphing into the hero Gotham City deserves but doesn't need. The old guys, Freeman and Caine, these guys should make a movie together, oh wait, they have, are terrific reprising their roles but the love interest, Rachel, has changed. I was never a fan of Katie Holmes but Maggie Gyllenhaal, although a better actress is a bit too homely and unconvincing in this role. On the other hand Aaron Eckhart, who up until now has failed to impress me, is outstanding as Harvey Dent the District Attorney. The Dark Knight has its share of Bat Gadgets (including a mondo bizarro motorcycle) and action but the real departure is in the darkness and character development. The film teeters on the edge of being true film noir. It is definitely not for children no matter how many toy tie-ins Walmart may have for sale. The pulp fiction - graphic novel nature of these stories makes for a new genre of film entertainment for adults and I welcome it. At two and a half hours The Dark Knight is long but wouldn't seem so but for the several possible endings before the real, and proper one. If this franchise continues in this direction I can see Christian Bale really making Batman his character. It's both too bad and yet somehow comforting to know we won't be seeing Ledger's Joker again.

For months we heard that this is the movie of the century and that Heath is so good, he will win an oscar. If Heath hadn't died, I wonder if the movie would be getting so much buzz. Yes, it's a great action picture and Heath is wonderful. However, the story is definitely very dark and the plot is difficult to follow at times. There is so much action, it's hard to tell what's happening. It's good but the best ever-definitely not.

This movie was an amazing dive into the human psyche. It also touched on something very rare, that heroes and villains are created by the public's perception more then real knowledge of an individuals true actions. Today more then ever the media is throwing hero after hero at the masses when in reality it's only ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Some manage to come out on top with their moral compass in tact, others don't. The fact that a movie could capture this and be a commercial success is nothing short of phenomenal!

I have to say that this film surpassed my expectations! It was absolutely the best of the Batman series starting with Batman Begins (which I watched again over the weekend—what a movie!). The Michael Keaton Batman was wonderful for its cartoonish look and feel but for my money Dark Knight was the true essence of what the Batman story is about. All of the main characters were phenomenal (Oscars all around!)—but I could have done without Maggie Gyllenhaal. I love her in most of her other roles but this role needs someone who has a presence. She seemed excessively diminished, defenseless, and weak in her scenes with her male co-stars. I recognize the whole damsel-in-distress expectation of the role, but in the past Rachel incarnations, there has been an edge and a cleverness that made her stand up against the male-dominated script. All in all the movie was a huge success!

the movie was overall well put together. heath ledger was down right scary in his portrail of the joker. but i would have like to see a bit more put into the motivation and story line leading up to the creation of the joker. the diferent explanations to the scars on his face was a nice touch in order to put an air of mystery around his origins but i think hardcore fans would have like to see the road leading up to such a character. its too bad heath will not be around to play the part in the future. the two face sub-plot seemed rushed. he was good, mutilated and dead before the audience could figure out if they wanted to love or hate the character. christian bale was good once again as the man behind the mask, but in my opinion still falls short of the dark comedic personality of keaton. over all a good flick. check it out.

If you could only choose to see one movie this summer or even this whole year, The Dark Knight is hands down the finest choice you could make! The last time I was this excited during a movie was at a midnight screening of Terminator 2.. I was 12! Seriously its that good. This movie is a combination of elements that equal one hell of an amazing ride. What really made this film were all the scenes with heath ledger as the Joker!
One thing that kinda bugged me was that it seemed like Maggie G. avoided talking about how Heath Ledger's performance was truly remarkable this week on the Daily Show. All she had to do was mention how sad his death was and that she's uncomfortable talking about it and move on.
