The Dark Knight Shines Brightly

The Dark Knight is emensely engaging from beginning to end. I enjoyed this more than expected. The movie was captivated by Ledger's compelling performance. The only regret is that he will not be able to reprise the role. The plot works. The pace is crisp. Not everything is explained, but you should suspend disbelief and just enjoy. It's simply great entertainment.

I am not a fan of movie reviews. They are usually too critical and are written by people who didnt make it in the entertainment industry. Now that being said I fully accept me being a hypocrite. I had to review this movie. I am still not sure of the magnitude of the movie I just saw last night. It was more than just a comic book movie. It transcended every level of emotions that I had. I dont know if there is any words that I can type out that will explain how epic this movie was. First off, being a fan of the comic, there are so many nerd moments in this movie that the casual fan will never pick up on. If you read any of the batman comics than you saw them. Next the acting was superb, forget the fact that Heath died. His acting was amazing either way, its just sad that we wont see him anymore. You can blame the hollywood machine for this one. Anyway the character development was intense and I can only hope that the Academy will not see this as a popcorn, summer, comic book film and see it as a movie about accepting your dark side and the sacrifices man makes, for good or evil. Gee ya think anyone is going to remember the Tim Burton movies now? Not only did Heath blow Jack's joker out of the water but holy crap Eckhard's Two Face makes Tommy Lee Jones look like a saturday morning cartoon. Anyway I could write about this for hours but I wont bore you. Just see the movie more than once. I believe this movie will be slightly different each time you see it. This film has so many levels its unreal. Thanks for reading my babbling and I hope this movie affects you like it did me.

Heath Ledger - Oscar worthy

A lot of twist & turns in the movie. Expect the unexpected. Heath Ledger did a wonderful job as the Joker, sadly I can't tell why a role like that would keep him up at night, he was unrecognizable and as well all know, the Joker is...crazy. I felt the fighting scenes with Batman and others were pretty weak, couldve been much better but I def. enjoyed the movie and am glad to have seen it as soon as it came out. BUT I was disappointed at the end, during the credits, I feel like Heath deserves a better recognition than something along the lines of "In memory of our friend Heath Ledger"

Keeps your attention from beginning to end!
Christian Bale and Heath Ledger were fabulous. What a shame he is not with us to hear his rave reviews and to acknowledge how fabulous he was.

This has got to be the best of all Batman movies. Story line was incredible. Most definately not over the top. Fans of the Batman series would understand the plot and little inuendos, but someone just there may have a hard time understanding all the different relationship connections. BRAVO to Nolan and his choice of actors.

This was almost everything a Batman movie should be. It was grim, scary, and clever. The Joker moved with too little rhyme and reason for me, but nonetheless, this is quite simply the most terrific portrayal of Batman ever to hit the scene.

"I would recommend this movie to a friend" does not adequately describe this film.

I would recommend this movie to my enemies and if they were my prisoner, I would force them to watch it. If I was their prisoner, I would beg to watch it before death.

Artful Masterpiece of acting and screenwriting

I have to say this movie is truly a Masterpiece. Christopher Nolan pulled together a story that was well paced and engaging for the entire duration of the film. Of all the movies I have seen this has to have the best ending ever produced. The delivery of the Actors was top notch and perfect in every way. It is a shame that this was Heath Ledgers final movie. He truly was a fantastic Actor that had honed his craft to perfection. He truly poured himself into the role. He wasn't acting the part of a psycopathic sociopath he became one. I have never seen such a chilling and believable portrayal of such a character. He rivaled the likes of Anthony Hopkins as Hanibal Lecture and Jack Nicholson in The Shining. His character was insane to the point of sanity. He was driven, focused but warped beyond normal conventions. His portrayal made you feel the evilness that flowed through the Jokers veins. With that said the rest of the cast shouldn't be forgotten. Aaron Eckhart portrayal of Two face was exceptional. The twists to the story were well delivered and reveled with great precision. By far this movie should be remembered as one of the greatest films of the 21st Century.

This movie definitely improves upon "Batman Begins." Not saying that Batman Begins was not great, but The Dark Knight takes it to a higher level. Heath Ledger's character, The Joker, is sinister and wickedly creepy. The action sequences were great, but never took over the content of the movie. It is a must see!

Greatest Villain Ever?

This movie is five stars and without question Heath Ledger's Joker just became one of film's greatest villains. The performance was amazing and though it stands out it was almost as if it made every other character in the film that much better to have him in it. Batman: Dark Knight is now the gold standard of the comic book film genre.

This movie has everything!! You come to know and become invested in the characters, the dialogue is meaningful and the acting is superb. The flow is never broken--great tension throughout.

The Joker stole the show! Heath Ledger did an unbelievable job. I enjoy superhero movies, but until this one, I had never thought anyone deserved an Oscar for their performance in this genre... This movie deserves best picture and best actor.

How amazing this movie is...it isn't because Heath Ledger is gone that made it great, he was alive in this roll..obviously...and he immersed himself into the Joker...he IS the Joker. I've been talking about it since I got out, I just cannot express how great he is. You are in awe over his performance. Two-faced is just as good. Aaron Eckhart does a great job because you feel for his loss.

Overall the Acting was just plain amazing! The plot line is also good, you can't figure it out until the end.

My fiance, my best friend, and I went and saw TDK at the midnight premeire. It was absolutely astonishing to us. It was the best movie weve seen in a long time, Heath Ledger put on a show as the Joker that may have have put Jach Nicholsons original performance in the dark. It was fantastic, and I plan on seeing it at least two more times....

never has any villain rocked me to the core like the late Heath Ledger's portrayal of the joker. HE IS THE JOKER. PERIOD. this movie was ridiculously awesome to the point where it was disturbing. not only will it keep you on the edge of your seat with all the action, but it'll also force you to think about society and its fragility. ive never left a theater feeling so uneasy about the people around me. order breeds chaos or is it vice versa? anyone can do what the joker does, anarchy is inherent in every individual. thats his point. even the greatest hero can fall. it just takes a little push. and that right there is whats so gruesome and beautiful about this film; the joker levels EVERYONE and just lives to watch the world burn (and thats what makes Heath Ledger the one and only joker in the pack.) want a little social head change and love the batman series? heres your answer. the joker will scar you. "THE DARK KNIGHT" will rock you hard. its the batman movie to end all batman movies. the end.

I really enjoyed this movie. Couple things though: 1. getting to the theatre late and having to sit second row center was a little menacing, I thought I was going to puke...
2. This could have stood to be about 45 minutes shorter. the middle dragged a little bit
That being said, the whole movie was absolutely amazing. Perfect acting and expertly shot. Heath Ledger was incredible, and Christian Bale was just as excellent as he was in Batman Begins. Gary Oldman was good, but every once in a while his British accent would color his phrases. And whats the deal with no Katie Holmes? Its always lame when they have to replace an actor for a character. Which brings me to another question: Who will play the joker next time around?

This movie was a keep you going and keep your attentiont the whole time. But for little children with protective parents, I'm not so sure this is the movie for them. The super hero feel is not there, you see the evil in people almost the whole moive instead of the good in everyone. But the story line and the acting were exceptional. Highly recommended.

The Endless Knight

Director Christopher Nolan does not disappoint die-hard Batman fans in his new film, "The Dark Knight." The tone and look of the film is very reminiscent of "Batman Begins," and many of the roles are reprised by the original actors. The most obvious exception, of course, being the substitution of Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes for Maggie Gyllenhaal in the same role. While Gyllenhaal does well enough in the role, her portrayal of Dawes lacked the anger and frustration of Holmes' Dawes, resulting in a flatter, more predictable character.
The Batman continues his quest to rescue Gotham City in a slightly different style. While "Batman Begins" focused on Bruce Wayne's transition to the Batman, "The Dark Knight" chronicles Batman's struggles and sacrifices to continue helping Gotham, even if it means handing the torch over to new District Attorney Harvey Dent.

The fight scenes are excellent. The special effects are flawless, and the choreography was very well put together. Additionally, they generally lasted just the right period of time--long enough to actually show what's going on, but short enough that the viewer doesn't notice their length and is left wanting more.

Overall, I would highly recommend this latest installment in the Batman series. I only gave it four stars from five because of the enormous amount of deep, philosophical conversation. There is certainly a need for it in this film, as so many themes are covered, but I felt that at points the rhythm of the storytelling was slowed down in order to cram in another discussion about duty and sacrifice. This doesn't however, detract from the excellence of the rest of the film, and don't let a fear of an action movie turned philosophy class in the Kill Bill 2 style keep you from seeing "The Dark Knight."

I went to see the midnight show with an open mind. Sure, I loved the last one, but would The Dark Night live up to the hype? Did the death of HL contribute to the largest opening day in history? I'm sure it did. Let me say that the film and his preformance was nothing short of spectaular. Go see it, you won't be disappointed. And oh ya, no matter what the hollywood critics say, it is Oscar worthy.
