Despite the material for this film coming from a comic book, this is not a typical movie from that genre. This movie is dark and tragic. Heath Ledger is amazing (oscar nod?) and Aaron Eckhardt delivers the performance of his career. This is one of the best movies of the year and will leave you physically drained by the end of the movie. It is a must see, but leave the small kids at home. Some of the material might be a little too unsettling despite the loosly used PG-13 rating.

This movie was completely action packed with no slow spots. I was sitting in my seat with my heart pounding wondering what could possibly happen next. I barely could recognize Heath Ledger when he played the joker because he completely immersed himself in the role. The Dark Knight was so much better than Batman Begins which is saying something because I am a huge fan of that as well. Come prepared to see a completely scary sadistic new side of the Batman saga. I already want to go see it again!

WOW! Intense! This is an awesome film that is a must see on the big screen. The best movie I’ve seen in a long time. I will see it over and over again in the theatre where movies are meant to be seen. A total escape from reality shared with a few hundred strangers is the best way to beat the summer heat. Be sure to find a THX certified theatre in your area and the sound will blow you away.

It was the biggest summer blockbuster that everyone was waiting for. And it did not disappoint. Its all-start cast featured Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, and the late Heath Ledger as the blood hungry Joker. Ledger's and Eckhart's performances really stood out as oscar worthy even. I, personally, am not a fan of the superhero genre, yet this is going atop my favorite movies list. It's everything and anything that you would expect from all the buzz around this film; action, suspense, and the occasional comic relief. A++ movie tell all of your friends and family to give it a chance, no one shall be disappointed.

I took my 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son to see this movie against warnings that it was too dark, and although the movie was incredibly moody and even scary at times, they were entertained and had a GREAT time watching this movie. It is intense, The Joker is really creepy, and there was actually a point in the movie that surprised me so much that I yelped out loud like a dog who's had their tail stepped on. I scared the poor people around me. Oh well... The movie rocks. It's got great action sequences, the characters are well developed, and unlike most comic book villians, The Joker doeesn't have any hokey one liners. His dialogue is cunning, creepy, and believable which is what makes him so unforgettable -- that along with his unique quirks that Heath gives him. Never has The Joker been played like this before. Aaron Eckhart does a great job at the DA turned Two Face. He also is very intense and even scary at some points. Great, great movie.

This is why you go to the movies. Period. Heath Ledger's performance is amazing and unpredictable. He makes the insane Joker seem slightly human and charismatic. The Nolan Brothers' interpretation of Batman is right on the money. Spoiler Alert: There is more than one villain in the movie. Try to guess who it is.

This is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life. I would definitely recommend it. They did so many things and went so many places that other movies were afraid to go, which made it very unique, not just like every other super hero movie. It was amazingly the best batman movie I have ever seen. Christian Bale portrated a conflicted hero quite well and the Joker was a psychotic hero you couldn't help but love to hate. I am wondering who they are going to recast him with someone else, as of right now I cannot see anyone else in that role.

The Dark Knight - 9/10
This film has fulfilled all of its hype and exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed Batman Begins, but would not have considered it a landmark comic-hero adaption. Never, would have I thought Chris Nolan's new take on the Batman saga would evolve into the intense and clever crime drama that is The Dark Knight.

As far as summer blockbuster go - this has it all. Car chases, explosions, sinister villains, fist fights, and climax after climax of sheer edge-of-your-seat entertainment. However, it takes the stereotypical mindless summer action movie, and takes it way beyond anything it was ever expected to be.

We get all that tense entertainment, but it's so well crafted, and so well thought out, that it becomes no longer a summer hero movie, but the type of crime drama that's remembered and admired for years. Yes, there is action - is it mindlessly thrown throughout without care? No. Yes, there are explosions - are they used merely for visual appeasement? No. Every action sequence is carefully built up to. Every explosions, car chase, or murder is originally thought out. There are twists and turns in every direction, each sequence unfolds in ways one would never see coming, and Nolan does it all one step at a time until the movie reaches its conclusion.

Maybe the overall plot (I stress the word overall) is a little predictable and the pacing is a little odd in places (at times I like there were three climaxes and I wasn't sure when the movie was over). However, each move within the overall plot is clever and non cliched. No one should find themselves groaning at rehashed aspects and redundancy in this film.

Anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in the often boring and repetitive genre of summer blockbusters will find satisfaction in The Dark Knight. It may not be as genius as Memento or as emotionally engaging as Requiem for a Dream, but it's one hell of a ride and the adrenaline rush accompanying it definitely leaves me willing to give it go after go.

When I was going in I did not know what to expect, I was hoping it was good, but wasnt sure. I was BLOWN AWAY! It was so beautifully directed and you could never see what was coming next! I would definately recommend this to anyone, even if you aren't a Batman fan.

I was lucky enough to have seen the midnight show last night, and I must say, it was totally worth it.
The first huge thing that stands out in the new Batman movie series directed by Christopher Nolan is the great acting. This second movie of his is no exception.
The acting was absolutely fantastic, and it's a real shame Heath Ledger had to die, because he's my new favorite actor.
If he doesn't win some for of a award, I'll be kinda disappointed, because he's simply brilliant. Playing the Joker was a role made for him. He went all out on the part, and I must say, it shows. From he maniac of a laugh, to his anger he gets when he's called crazy, it's all just pure genius.
Heath Ledger also made The Joker my new favorite villain.
Christian Bale brings back the greatness, too. You've seen how great he is in Batman Begins, and he's great in the Dark Knight. I can't really say much more than that, because if you've seen the first film, you'd know what I'm talking about.
Besides those two, also making a triumphant showing is Aaron Eckhart, who plays Harvey Dent, and later Two-Face. At first he plays a citie's District Attorney, and later into a crazed vigilante. He plays both parts very well, and his great acting makes the transformation that much better.
The second thing that stands out in Nolan's rendition is the story. This movie has one of the best, if not THE best story in a movie I've seen all year. There's no holes to be seen, just flat out great story telling. I really hope the Nolan brothers continue what they've started and don't change a thing. It's simply too perfect.
This also fixes what a lot of the old stories had. In the old Batman movies, there was something like 3 or 4 villains per movie you had to keep track of (correct me if I'm exagerating, there was a lot, though). This sort of seems that way, but in the end, there was only 2: The Joker and Two-Face.
I would tell a bit of a story, but I'm always one to post spoilers and not mean to, and that would just suck on your part.
One thing I noticed this time around is the setting. In Batman Begins, sure, Gotham looked a little bit like New York. It had some more "epic-ness" to it, however. This time I really didn't see a difference between New York and Gotham. Not sure how significant that is, just something I noticed.
I probably have a lot more to say, but I can't think of anything, so I'll let my numbers speak for me.
Story - 10/10
Acting - 10/10
It seems like there's something else I'd put there... whatever.
Highly recommended. Go spend your 9 or 10 dollars, or if you're really up for it, spend your 20 dollars on IMAX, it's totally worth every penny.

I very rarely end up enjoying things that have been built up for months as the world's best what have you. The Dark Knight was a first for me. Not only did it match the hype, it exceeded it. This is, without exaggeration, one of the best movies I have ever seen and I would recommend it to anyone...well maybe not little kids. Some of the violence was a little grusome.
