I first saw the trailer to this film around the time of the brilliant actor Heath Ledger's death. I was mesmerized by his character, and because of that, I vowed to see it opening night. Not only was The Dark Knight action-packed and creative, the plot and actors kept my attention throughout the entire 2 hours and 30 minutes of screen time, which no other movie had done before. Extra praise should be given to Heath, who in my opinion, determined the movie's success. He was so intriguing right from the very beginning. There were times when I was extremely frightened of him, since he was so unpredictable; other times, he made me laugh at him and with him; and at other times, I felt sorry for his character after being informed that his childhood contributed to his current, twisted state. After growing up watching Jack Nicholson's fantastic performance of the Joker, and then now watching Heath's performance, I believe that Heath brought more dimensions to the character than Jack. With Jack's performance, you mainly see a dark comical side; with Heath's preformance, you see a psychological, witty, dark, menacing, manipulative and violent side. Heath was so brilliant, that when he was not in a scene, I was literally praying for him to return! If you are not a Batman fan, then if for no other reason, go to see this movie for Heath's charismatic brilliance; the man should be given an Oscar for this performance, since this is his best one, in my opinion. It should also be said, that Morgan Freeman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and of course, Aaron Eckhart gave excellent performances as well. I will definitely be seeing this again since I have never felt so moved by an actor's performance like that in my life. Cheers Heath.

Is it possible to give a dead man an award? If it is Heath Ledger deserves it. That was the best acting i have seen in my life. Not only was the action awesome but the story line, how it never made you stop guessing what was going to happen next.

Where to start this movie, i would say the movie was almost near perfect. Two things that could of been fixed. The movie was a bit long, even though it held my attention for the whole movie some scenes could of been shortened. Second, Heith Ledger did an amazin job as the Joker, no doubt about it. But i dont think it was oscar material. He should definately get nominated but as for a win, it shouldnt be because he passed away. Heith Ledger is our generation Joker. Our grandparents had Caesar Romero, our parents had Jack Nickelson and now we have Heith. So if they do try to incoporate the Joker in the next it would be really hard to fill in those shoes.

It is rare when script talent and box office appeal combine to create something truly great. Batman is no longer a myth. Christopher Nolan treated Bruce Wayne as equally powerful as his alter-ego. Both men solve the puzzles and fight the villains. Together, they make a complex character. Ledger's performance outshines the other villains, unfortunately making them look campy.

Dark Knight exceeded all my expectations. It has an amazing ensemble cast, rich plot and lots of surprises. Heath Ledger really does deserve an Oscar nod...not as a sympathy vote, but because he is unbelievably good in this movie.
If you don't want to plunge into a really, truly dark movie, then don't see this one, but if you like this kind of serious entertainment, don't miss it.
The director actually shows amazing restraint, despite the wicked things that happen in this film. He apparently understands that the imagination sometimes is more powerful than actually seeing violence.
Score is awesome, too, so attend at a theatre with the best sound possible.
Great, great movie. The ideal antidote to WALL-E's sugary sweetness this summer.

Every aspect of this movie is astounding. It's guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser and is one of the best movies that I've seen this year. While Bale does provide an excellent performance, the movie truly belongs to his co-stars Ledger and Eckhart, whose portrayals of the Joker and Harvey Dent are truly amazing to watch. I will probably see this movie again at least once, because it is that great. Highly recommended.

Joker is great. A+ on screenwriting, not to mention Heath's outstanding delivery. Bale's Bruce is oustanding, quite reminiscent of Patrick Bateman (now Patrick Batman). The "dark knight" side of Bruce Wayne gets a little tired at the end with too many little speaches to Dent and Joker and Rachael AND Gordon. However, they serve to adequately explain and develop Batman's inner struggles with how to fullfill his role to Gotham (i.e. hero, villian, hybrid, etc.) "He is what Gotham needs him to be" as the movie says. Sorry, Rachael, I loved you in Stranger than Fiction but your idealistic antics and silly speaches/frowny faces to Dent and Wayne really served to produce a small smerk on my face when you got blown up. Katie Holmes did a better job. These are all minor notes and should not serve to discourage ANYONE from seeing the movie which is fabulous. Well done!

Thoughtful, soulful, action-packed, and lacking in cliche, this is by far the best Batman franchise movie ever created and one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story is true to the soul of the character and the actors (particularly Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart) bring to life their respective characters with startling clarity. Tinged with humor in just the right places, the film grabs hold of you and doesn't let go---even after you've left the theater. An absolute must see.

If you are second-guessing the overall quality of the movie, you should be ashamed of yourself. Not only are there amazing action scenes, there's suspense, the plot is very cohesive and interesting enough to keep you on the edge of your seat at all times, and the dialogue in the movie is just as important as the action and just as amazing. Heath Ledger TOTALLY transformed into the perfect example of who The Joker should be. He makes Jack Nicholson look like an amateur. True, Nicholson took a more comical take on The Joker, but "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" shows us the REAL Batman. Batman is more than a superhero; in fact, he shouldn't be considered a superhero. The REAL Batman is dark, cynical, without pity, and has no limits.
YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO WATCH THIS MOVIE NOW.

This movie was excellent from start to finish. Heath Ledger definitely gives Jack Nicholson a run for his money portraying the joker. It really shows the darker side of the comic. It is with out a doubt the best comic book adaptation of a movie to date. I will be going to see this again..

The Dark Knight was not only the best movie of the year, but also is the best movie of the decade. Christian Bale found himself as Bruce Wayne and played his struggles better than anyone could have imagined. Heith Ledger brought such an unpredictable sens e of fear to the film that it put you in the movie. This was by far the best movie of the Batman series and the best movie I havbe ever seen!

This was an awesome movie, the wife and I went to the theater the very first opportunity we got (midnight 07/17), and it was totally worth the wait. There is so much more to this film than just a story about a comic book hero, a lot of depth. I'm checking the papers to see when the best time for me to see it again so that I can take things a little slower. I hope the director is in this for another round of excitement.

Well worth your time!! A very entertaining movie with an all-star cast that do not disappoint--acting is really really good. I'm not a huge superhero/comics fan, but movie is perfectly easy to understand. Plot well-developed, not just another action movie with tons of fighting and no storyline. HEATH LEDGER IS AWESOME IN THE MOVIE!! A little on the long side, but really fun!!

Amazing movie! Definitely better than the first one as I felt Katie Holmes brought down the mood with her less than stellar acting. Haunting, suspenseful, and gripping. Easily one of the best films of 2008, and of all time. Heath Ledger's final performance is chilling and downright creepy, and it's worth every penny to go see it again and again.
The movie has so many comic one-liners and moments that are tasteful and do not detract from the chaotic, anarchic mood of the film. It is a non-stop roller coaster of thrills, not rising and falling smoothly like some movies, but consistently packing a punch both emotionally and in action.

This movie was well done and easily one of the best movies of the year if not the best!!! The joker alone was killer. He was absolutely deranged though somehow added comic relief to the film even while committing ridiculous crimes! The way Ledger performed was nothing short of excellent! And Christian Bale once again portrays one of the best Batmans' ever! He is still my favorite Batman of all time. The plot takes many twists and turns and left me surprised many times! I don't want to write a long review. The film is very good, and the performances are wonderful. If I have any comment it's that the movie is two and half hours long, and it should be three. There is a lot in this movie, and it could have used more time to breath. But it is very, very, very good.

this movie was action packed from the git go. i dont want to give anything away put there is a reason why they call this movie the dark knight. this movie is dark. the pure madness of the joker is outstanding, but you cant help but laugh at his antics. the movie did not feel like 150 minutes. cant wait to see it again

This movie has very little or no hope in it; it is a classic superhero "we can never defeat evil, only make it less" story. But the scary part in this movie is that evil is seen in the good guys as well--it portrays the reality of life. Heath Ledger's character is one of the most dynamic and frighteningly real villains I have ever seen. A very good movie if you want to be left pondering evil in the real world.

Despite the movie being hyped as if it was the second coming of Christ, and an audience that seemed to be made up of special education field trips as they laughed and clapped through out the whole film when there should be awed silence, the movie was spectacular. The way director Christopher Nolan builds a movie around it's characters and the way the A+ list actors encompassed their roles made this film one of the greatest superhero films of all time. The dialogue is nothing short of magnificient. There is one memorable line from the film in which Alfred describes not only the Joker's character, but his infinite disregard for humanity saying "Some men just want to see the world burn to the ground." The suspense makes the 2hr 20 min movie seem like it went by way too fast, but many key moments remain incredibly memorable.

The Dark Knight is another notch on the belt for its producers. It was ALL I expected and more. LOVED it! Great story line and ending. It walked the line of good family entertainment and a solid R rated movie. It stayed on the family side of the line. Great dynamic of villains and unpredictable. Can't wait for the next chapter and please no Robin. The next chapter had better blow our mines because the bar has been set very high. I don't care about critics but I will recommend this movie to all of my friends.

I won't say much. I was a big fan of Batman and Batman Returns as a kid, but as everyone knows, those 4 movies didn't go along with the graphic novels as well as the new series. I thought Christian Bale returned to do a very good Batman for this film. And it is a complete shame about Heath Ledger because he got down the sick demented Joker part to a T. One of the best performances I've ever seen. Aaron Eckhart also did a wonderful job portraying Harvey Dent/Two-Face. My one problem is that I didn't find Maggie Gyllenhaal's acting quite up to par with most of the cast, but it doesn't take away from the film. The movie doesn't feel like 2 and a half hours because it keeps you wanting more the entire time. If you are a Batman fan, and liked Batman Begins, then you must go see the Dark Knight.
