Let me sum up The Dark Knight in one word: amazing. Heath Ledger completely transformed himself into the most villainous terrifying thing that I have ever seen. Not the biggest Batman fan in the world but this is one of the better movies that I have ever seen. Do it.

Everyone involved in this movie deserves accolades for executing what the story of Batman should be. Nolan shows himself to be a skilled director and the acting is top notch.
Heath Ledger's death will unfortunately overcast what is a flawless performance as The Joker. It his movie more than Batman's (the same can be said for the character of Harvey Dent played by Aaron Eckhart). He deserves an Oscar win for this - he completely disappears in this disturbing role.
Batman was always intended to be a dark tale - I am so glad Nolan went in this direction for the rebooting of the franchise. Even though the movie is 2.5 hours long, it goes by in a snap. And the underlying drama is as riveting as the incredible action sequences (Batman flipping the 18-wheeler being driven by the Joker, being the Zenith).
The best superhero movies to this point have been Spider-man 2 and Superman 2 - well another sequel can now be added to the list - The Dark Knight. Highly Recommended.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Heath Ledger made Jack Nicholson look like Marry Poppins! He was by far the best, creepiest, most demented Joker they could have ever cast. Not as back story or plot point based like Begins. The movie dragged a bit over the last 30 minutes, I thought it was going to end about 7 times before it actually ended. Great, great movie.

I saw this at the midnite showing the day it came out.
It freakin rocked. It had lot of well known actors. Some funny dialogues. Even when it started to slow down, it kept my interest and I was pretty tired since it didn't start until 12:30am.
I was shocked at some of the twists they put in it but all was fitting for where they plan on taking the next movie.
There were 3 villians although it was the Joker that commanded the movie.
All in all, much better than the first.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Yeah The Dark Knight had a fairly long running time but was well worth it. All the actors were on the top of their game. Harvey Dent and Joker were surprisingly realistic and you got to see their motivation for being the way they are. I would strongly recommend it to anyone interested.

After seeing the first teaser trailer for this film almost a year ago, I knew I had to be there at midnight on opening night. Batman is my personal favorite superhero, and ironically, The Joker and Two-Face are two of my favorite villains. All of this plus an incredible cast and director sold me on seeing it. After walking out of the theater, I was blown away by a film that still surprised me more than I expected. It is a remarkably darker, grimmer, and more disturbing superhero film than has ever been made before. Which I feel makes it one of if not the best. The original dark concept for Batman that was thought up so many years ago is perfectly displayed here. Christian Bale is the ideal choice for the dark knight. He plays it with such a comfortable ease and brooding intensity that you can't look away. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman reprise their roles as Alfred, Lucius Fox, and Lit. Gordon respectfully with even more interesting, humorous, and intense performances than their superb work in "Batman Begins." Aaron Eckhart also steps in this time as the ill-fated D.A. Harvey Dent. Eckhart perfectly balances a crusader for justice with a demented madman with a convincing, haunting performance. A significant step-up is Maggie Gylenhaal replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes. Gylenhaal gives a much more interesting performance with an intriguing personality that makes her more watchable, and in a way, more attractive than Holmes in the first film. Christopher Nolan's direction is superb as he brings Gotham City into a dark light that seems to get darker as the film progresses. If all this isn't enough. the film is dominated by the incredible, terrifying, insanely watchable version of Batman's arch-nemesis, The Joker, as played by the late Heath Ledger. Ledger's haunting performance can't help but bring back the painful memories of his shocking death in January. Rarely is there a performance though takes as many risks and goes as far as his Joker is. Oscar consideration? Definitely. The film is already in the running for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and numerous technical awards in my opinion. And Ledger? It's no joke that he should win.

I came into The Dark Knight with ridiculously high expectations, and it took all of those expectations and sliced them up with a knife, sauteed them in some gasoline and gun powder, and served them with a refreshing sprig of metaphor and bold technical film making. Every bite I took was one mind blowing taste after another. This film is like a 5 course meal of intensity, and just when you think the final course is over, it throws you down and stuffs you with 5 more courses of pure thrills until you're nearly exhausted from such an amazingly overwhelming meal. I give my deepest compliments to the chef.

I believe the title of this review says it all. Although Bale has taken the rains of best Batman ever, he was completely out shined by his co-stars performances. Not just the obvious one in Heath Ledger but also with Aaron Eckhart's, and Gary Oldman's approaches to this Batman film exceeds all expectations past, present, and (hopefully) future for the entire Batman franchise. Ledger's spine tingling, hair-raising, and flat out disturbing performance made you forget that there was even a super hero in this movie. Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent was only enhanced after he suffered his loss (not going to spoil anything). Bale performed to the standards we as an audience expected and hoped for, but Nolan focused this film on the "love triangle" of Batman, Dent, and Joker and therefor delivered a psychosis roller coaster of Dent losing his mind, Wayne struggling to do the right thing, and The Joker just wanting to kill and drive people insane. As an avid Batman Fan i feel I have a biased opinion when i say this is the best film in ten years. You will not be dissappointed when you buy a ticket for this movie. Ledger went out on the highest note with this role and I would be thoroughly shocked and appaled if he did not recieve, at least, an Oscar nomination

Overall the movie was dark, insane, and just perfect. Christian Bale once again showed his acting is far greater than he is gievn credit for. Heath Ledger played the role of The Joker far surpassing everyone's expectations. Possible Oscar winner from my view. He made a Joker that differs from Jack Nicholson's back in the 80's. A better Joker. Aaron Eckhart was the suprising role that gave the movie complete mistery and had everyone on their edge of their seats. His quote early on in the movie which was, "Either you die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain", was his forshadowing that many could have expected but not gone as far as he did in the movie which just added to the movie's greatness.. The scenes were shot perfectly and graphics were out of this world. Action was fantastic.

Dark, sinister, haunting.
PostedJuly 18, 2008

Yes, it's true. He's done it. After reviving the 'Batman' brand three years ago, Christopher Nolan has done the unthinkable. The impossible. Not only has he outdone himself and the wildest of expectations, but Nolan has created a comic book movie that transcends the limits of its genre to become something so much more. So dark, so sinister. 'The Dark Knight' is a masterpiece, and it has all the makings of a timeless classic. Not merely a movie about good versus evil, but about the evil born out of good. And the toll it takes on those who fight it.
There's no doubt that the mind of Christopher Nolan is a dark place. We've seen it before, which made Nolan an interesting choice to pick up the broken franchise. Did they comprehend exactly what they were getting themselves into? Probably not. Needless to say, one studio's gamble has been our tremendous gain. 'Batman Begins' was a remarkable re-visioning of the Caped Crusader's roots, but it is with 'The Dark Knight' that Nolan unleashes his twisted fury with impeccable precision and horrific brilliance. He aims high, far and above what any other superhero has ever tackled before. The results are startling.
Saving a city, protecting innocent people, questioning your habits. This is not foreign territory that 'The Dark Knight' is invading, but it doesn't seek out the easy answers. Christian Bale once again inhabits the bat costume, and he delivers an exquisite performance of a sincere man, but a tortured soul. The moral dilemmas presented to us run deep, as Bruce Wayne doesn't simply battle his inner demons, but a worldview that breeds chaos and thrives on anarchy. Where good men trying to do the right thing can be brought down to the depths of hell, that within us all lies a savage and barbaric beast. Dog eat dog.
Yes, that's the Joker. A nihilistic psychopath, you're not sure whether you should chuckle at his clever gestures or shudder in eerie fear. It was a role that would have made him the superstar he deserved to be, a role that would forever carry his name. Heath Ledger did not live to see his brilliant work on the big screen, but he would be proud. He really is that good. It's evident he went to a very dark place to construct this malicious Joker, and he will always be remembered for delivering one of the most haunting, disturbing performances ever put to screen. Chaos for the sake of chaos, mass destruction for a little bit of fun and disorder.
'The Dark Knight' soars among some of the best crime dramas ever told. A skillfully complex story that serves not only as an adrenaline rush of pure entertainment, but home to many profound ideas of power, politics, corruption, and the simple decency of mankind. Nolan uses Gotham City as a universal concept, not a crime-ridden city patrolled by a man in a bat costume that exists purely in the mind of its creator. It reaches across into our world, and effectively says something very powerful and unsettling about our morality. Harvey Dent sadly represents all of these things, and through the help of the very talented Aaron Eckhart, gives a face to these troubling but necessary ideas.
'The Dark Knight' will get under your skin, and it should. It isn't satisfied with simply being one of the greatest, if not the greatest, comic book movie ever made, it goes even further into a land rarely occupied by cinema but reserved only for the best. On the outside, 'The Dark Knight' is everything a summer blockbuster should be. The action is thrilling, the air of suspense is thick, the production values are top-notch and gorgeous to watch and look at. But underneath lays a core with many complicated layers, and Nolan is just getting started. 'The Dark Knight' will haunt you, it will linger in your memory. The freakishly twisted villains, a hero nobody wants. This is an unforgettable film, a masterful accomplishment whose own ambition is stunning and timely. Christopher Nolan is trying to tell us something, and he's using Batman to tell that story. Do yourself a favor and listen.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This film is much less satisfying that the prequel, mainly because of the waste of time developing the character known as Two Face. This character's motivations are completely nonsensical. The film would have saved 40 minutes of runtime and been much cleaner to watch and easier to watch.
