Dark Knight was by far the best Batman movie to date. It was incredible! Dark, and serious with many sadistic twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Every time the action seems to be winding down, the Joker pulls another ace out his pocket and starts this rollercoaster of suspense all over again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I honestly have no words to describe the justice that was done to bring this assumed "genre" movie to a mind-blowing new level. The Dark Knight hits the ground running and pulls the audience into the fragmented world of Gotham, a city at the mercy of an unruly crime faction, mostly its maniacal leader, and where both citizens and the appointed 'heroes' of society are at terms with their own moralities. Not to mention that Heath Ledger's Joker was utterly amazing... the man needed no introduction.

This movie is deffinatly the best movie I have seen all year, maybe in the last couple of years. The story line was amazing with the exploration of the Jokers past and how two-faced came to be. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole movie and deffinatly kept me guessing the whole time. The effects and editing were brilliant along with the writing and direction. Of course what made it the best for me was the amazing acting from the whole cast. Of course the leads Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Gary Oldman all deserve extreme praise most of all Ledger, who captivated me and all of the people I went to the movies with, lets just say that if he doesn't get that oscar everyones been buzzing about I know a lot of people who will be extremly upset. So not only did the leads carry this movie but so did all of the supporting actors such as Morgan Freeman who played the brilliant Fox. If you don't go see this movie you'll be missing out on one of the best movies of all time.

It's been a long time since a movie had me actually on the edge of my seat wandering what was actually going to happen next. Not only was I wandering, but I was begging to know what was going to happen next. A mix of dark mischief, comedy and five star action sequences makes this a movie for anyone to enjoy or even absolutely love. This just happens to be my all time favorite movie, and in my opinion...dare I say, the best movie of all time.

This movie was intense, well worth the anticipation and the ten dollar ticket for the midnight showing. It was far better than i had expected (and i was well prepared to be blown out of the water). Ledger's character was just, fantastic, frightening, had me on the edge of my seat for the whole show. The evolution and downfall of Eckhart's and Bale's characters were just amazing. augh! it's so hard to put into words. First five out of five star movie i've ever seen.

I have been anticipating the release of this movie since I saw the first preview last summer. The Dark Knight lived up to everything I hoped it to be.
To begin, the acting was superb. Bale returns as Batman and yet again does a great job. All the hype centered around Heath Ledger's performance was well deserved, he was riveting as the ruthless Joker.
Christopher Nolan did a great job directing as always and the story was very good, which he co-wrote.
This movie was action-packed and intense to the point where I can say with assurance that it is the best movie of the summer indefinetly.

Heath Lrdger's performance is amazing. I'll even go so far as to say it is my favorite adaptation of The Joker, beating out Mark Hamill.
But the movie is so much more!
Two Face's first appearance will shock you, Christian Bale shows off why he is a cult icon and perfectly captures the fell of Batman, and Christopher Nolan paints a dark yet beautiful vision of Gotham, besting all other directors before him.
This movie does NOT disappoint!

The Dark Knight is a special film. A film that not only gives us the expected(namely action sequences and a man dressed in a costume), but the unexpected, a film that transcends its genre and all together becomes something else. While you're watching it, The Dark Knight tricks you into thinking its a comic book film but in actuality it is a crime epic, depicting the nature of those who protect and those who hurt. On one end of the spectrum we have Batman, a man who's vigilante acts are meant to inspire good and sustain it. On the other end we have the Joker, a man so hell bent on destruction and maiming, that chaos and violence are almost an extension of bodily function, which are treated as more important than breathing. And in the middle is Harvey Dent, a man who wants to clean the streets up with rules and do goodery, but at times he strays from the middle, knowing that the rules can't always be applied. This is our setup, as these three men wage for the soul of Gotham City, which itself has seen an escalation of crime with the introduction of Batman. Granted, these aren't the only pieces to Nolan's film, but they are the beating heart. Credit must go where credit is due, Chris and John Nolan have crafted a script that is able to balance three principle characters, a load of supporting characters, and numerous subplots with such detail and cohesiveness. The script has so much respect for each character and their own stories, as it gives each one ample time to be fleshed out and understood. Not to mention, the numerous twists and red herrings only add more suspense to a world that is already unpredictible and on the verge from becoming a cess pool of evil. Yes, there is a lot to be seen in this film and its running time is massive, but it pays dividends as it gives us time to become wrapped into the character's lives as they crash in and out of tragedy, triumph, and loneliness. Ofcourse, what is on paper doesn't always translate well to the screen, so credit must also be bestowed upon this acting troupe, who are prestigious as any cast can get. Eckhart is heartbreaking as Harvey Dent, a man who is fierce and fears nothing at first, but as the film wears on, he begins to change as his image, his love, and his life's work hinge on every step he takes.Eventually all of those things he has loved and protected end up leading to his fall. In many ways he is Gotham City's Hamlet. Bale as Batman is all the more superb, as he is by far the best Batman to grace the big screen. A man who is two faced himself, a play boy by day and a man who fights crime by night. A man who is struggling with the realization that he can't keep fighting forever. He too wants to live a life with his one love, Rachel Dawes, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal is a clear step up from Katie Holmes, as she is torn between Dent and Wayne, who she knows are both one in the same to a degree. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are charming and are the threads that keep Wayne's psyche in check, as well as push him to live up to his morals. Oldman as Jim Gordon, is tender and solid as he lives and breathes for making things right. And now we get to the real show, Heath Ledger as the Joker. Most people know the Joker from Jack Nicholson's performance in the 1989 Tim Burton "Batman" film. Well, thats all about to change. In Burton's version, Jack Nicholson was essentially playing Jack Nicholson in make up. In The Dark Knight, Ledger is the Joker. He literally disappears into the role and throughout the whole film I forgot it was even Ledger at all. His performance is so nuanced and full of ticks, its hard to believe he is merely a creation on film. At times he is playful and at times he is downright chilling. Ledger plays the Joker so sadistically, that we really don't know what to expect from him. Just the way Ledger deliver's his lines, like how the Joker explains how he got his scars, or the way he walks with a slouched posture, we see a man completely unhinged and restricted by no rules or norms. I'm going to take this moment here and declare Ledger the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. His performance dominates the screen. With all of these actors performing at a high level within an already great script, big props must placed upon Chris Nolan. First off, he has improved his direction on action sequences. No longer are they jumbled quick and dark cuts. They're clear, concise, and completely lacking CGI. I dare you not to marvel at his stunt based sequences like a semi flipping or midnight Asian extradite. Also, Nolan should be given credit for not comprimising the world he established in Begins and tackling dark and philosophical subject matter. He could've gone the Spider-Man 3 route and just half heartedly performed for the studio and fan service. Thankfully Nolan's not a man who sacrifices a story just to appease a few. Nolan even kills off a few major characters, all of which may anger some, but they only add depth to the story and push it farther into greatness. Which leads me to laying one last kudo at Nolan's feet and that is for making a film so complex and rich, despite it having the "based off a comic" tag. It is so much more than a film about a man with a penchant for dress up. Its about the grey areas we all encounter in life. Its about the morals we try to balance and justify in a world full of terrorists, mad men, and corporate executives. Its about how we too, of even the strictest of rules, can find ourselves lashing out despite our beliefs when we have been pushed to the brink. Near the end of the film the Joker explains himself to Harvey Dent and says that people aren't chaotic when something happens when its "part of the plan". Instead, people fall apart and are chaotic when things occur on a whim and don't fit what they expect. I must say this is what got me in The Dark Knight...a film that dared to be something so much more than what's usually the "plan" for a comic book film. A film that is relentless in its depiction of moral upstanding and monstrosity, and how both can be interchanged from situation to situation. From the first second to the bittersweet ending, The Dark Knight will clutch you in its grasp and drain every last bit of emotion from you, while showing good and evil can be one in the same. Nolan, you have your masterpiece.

UnFreakinBelievable....this was the best movie this year and I don't think anything on the way can top it. It really lived up to all the hype. Heath Ledger's final performance was amazing, and I liked the dedication at the end of the movie. The stunts were great and the explosions were good. Harvey Dent was developed wonderfully and the love triangle with him, Rachel, and Bruce wasn't overpowering and added to the story instead of taking away from it.

First, for comicbook fans of the Dark Knight and those who loved the previous Christian Bale Batflick, you're in for a treat. Bale's the Batman isn't centrally developed in this rounds, and Chris Nolan appropriately avoided giving a deep background overview of the two emerging villains. The story flows similar to a comic book, yet felt superbly structured for the big screen with audience silencing dramatic scenes and "whoop/cheer" inducing action senquences.
The Dark Knight is truly a Dark nod to the Frank Miller comics. Gotham is dark and despairing, yet the important part of the plot is the scriptwriters' addition of the city of Gotham as a character in which the villain and the hero are both clammering to either destroy or protect.
The weakest link, for me, was Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) who just wasn't fleshed out enough in this film to empathise or care for. Usually, the films of this nature have a standout female performer to allow the viewers to become excited about the tension between the male leads, yet here, the film kind of let the viewers down.
Yet, the 2 1/2 hour film keeps the story moving and by the time the film reaches it's conclusion, like the other audience members, I was voicing my cry for more.
So I say, go see Dark Knight. Go see it once, go see it twice, hell, go see it again.

This was a great film. It is rare when you get not only a highly entertaining action movie but also a GREAT film, and this one nailed it. Heath did a great job, he was a great Joker, and he does this tongue flicker thing that reminds me a snake - very creepy. I was surprised by Maggie as well, she stepped into Katie's shoes like the role was tapered to her. Very impressed with the whole thing overall.

I believe this is the best Batman movie ever and one of the best comic book movies ever as well. This movie trumps the first one, which was well done, and takes the franchise to the next level. Direction, acting, scope, feel and everything else you can think of sets the bar for any other comic movie to come. (Including the next installment.) Oh, and Heath is remarkable. A wonderfully sadistic & chaotic version of the Joker.

I definately reccomend this movie to any comic book fan or fan of action movies. Heath Ledger as the Joker definately stole the show. I admit, I was wary that the performance of Heath Ledger in this movie was overrated because of everyone's obsession with respect towards his recent passing, etc. This was definately not the case. He was amazing in this movie, and deserves (once again, after his other great movies) much respect for his role. He made the movie for me, even more than "Batman." I do not usually root for the bad guy but this Joker takes the cake...and got my vote.
