The Dark Knight is one of those rare movies that keep you on the edge of the seat for the whole movie. It has the perfect balance of action, adventure, thrill, romance, and suspense. This movie does not have any dull moments. Christian Bale does a tremendous job portraying the Dark Knight. Heath Ledger's Joker is beyond what I expected and dare I say, surpasses Jack Nicholson's Joker. Aaron Eckart does a fabolous job playing Harvey Dent and transforming in Two-Face. Michael Cain of course does a great job playing Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler and confidant. Morgan Freeman reprises his role as Lucious Fox and does a great job as well. Maggie Gyllenaal does a tremendous job taking up the role of Rachel Dawes. This movies is the best movie that I have ever seen.

This movie is not suitable for children. They're going to have nightmares of some of the characters. Health Ledger was great and deserves at least an Oscar nomination. But the movie belongs to Chris Nolan who drenches the superhero genre with noir like no other. There are atleast a couple of action sequences that will take your breath away. Memento, Batman Begins, Prestige and now this - hats off to the Nolans.

I'm a hard person to impress re: movies, although I do like a wide-range of themes. The hero-saves-the-day fics are my favorite, though.
However, I've seen very few that grab my attention the way The Dark Knight did last evening. This flick is what movies are all about. It had drama, humor, adventure, action, with self-sacrificing heroes and nightmarish villians you love to hate. The pairing of Bale and Ledger was near perfection. Eckhart, Craine, Oldman, and Gyllenhaal did just as well with their character parts, too, yet never detracted from the main protagonist/antagonist players,. Still, they were powerful in their execution. I did think that Gyllenhaal was underused, if only a little bit, but she did add the right catalyst to a variety of outcomes near the end, though.
And although the movie was a tad longish, it kept its momentum to the very end. And the ending, though dark and foreboding, remained authentic to the comic book Batman.
With that said, It's the first time in a very long time when I felt like clapping as the end credits began rolling. The Dark Knight's marvelous screenplay, directing, art production and design, editing, sound, and last but certainly not least - performance has raised the bar for moviemaking! I will definitely see this again and once it comes out on DVD, I will add it joyously to my collection at home.

I loved this movie. I am a diehard batman fan, but this movie exceeded my expectations. Made me even a little jumpy at times. The joker was awsome and not jst because he is dead. It is worth the wait. GREAT ACTION!!

outstanding. the scope of the dark knight makes batman begins almost quaint in comparison. it is an experience that will make you want to turn around and walk right back in to the theater to see it for a second time.

I'm a wimp. I hate incredibly graphic images. I don't watch horror movies. That being said, **this was probably the best movie I've seen in the past year or two** (aside from Indiana Jones because I'm a dorky fan). It's not difficult to look away if the images are truly too disturbing for you. My only complaint was the fact that the audience in the theater would cheer periodically throughout the movie. Yes, that's a sign that you're doing something right as a filmmaker, but it's rude and the point of going to a movie is to feel like you're not in the real world for 1.5 to 3 or so hours. A lot of people think there were so many extraneous scenes and sequences in the movie, but I can definitely see why they weren't cut and I'm glad the movie offered such a complete picture of the story. If you're going to watch Dark Knight, you're in for a fantastic action movie that tugs on the heartstrings and makes deep social commentary. Just be prepared for audience interruptions.

well, where should i start? I guess i should begin with saying that it truly was the best superhero movie ever in my opinion. I loved everything about this movie, everybody in it was truly incredible especially heath ledger (R.I.P. man) he truly captured the true essence of the joker that you get in the comic books. aaron eckhart did a great job as harvey dent/two face, and i really liked how they made two face look. but overall i have seen it twice once in a regular theater and once in an imax theater. If you have not seen this movie please see it, you will very glad you did.

This movie truly captured the comic book. The picture production was excellent. The shots were dark but clear in true Batman forum. Comic book movies have been getting better and better and this movie is no exception. Heath Ledger played the best Joker by far. But what really makes this movie great is the attention to detail. When you see the Joker wearing a Harvey Dent for District Attorney sticker, you'll understand. This movie is definitely worth seeing. Five Stars.

Holy Bat Movies! This is the best Batman movie yet. Heath Ledger as the Joker certainly went out with a bang. I think it's his best work to date. He will most certainly be up for a nomination for this one.

"I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... stranger," spouts Heath Ledger's demented Joker in 'The Dark Knight.' Unfortunately, eager audiences will never know the validity of this statement, because this film did kill Heath Ledger. Or maybe it was sleeping pills, but still, Ledger's performance clearly overshadows every other powerhouse actor in this film. Rarely do I agree so whole heartedly with the hype, but A Dark Knight is now easily one of my top ten favorite films of all time, and certainly the best comic book movie I've ever scene. I believe Ledger's Joker, and his evil clown comes across as so convincing, it somehow seems to cheapen Christian Bale's performance as Batman, making Bale's lines seem cartoonish. But even with the lopsided believability between Bale's Batman and Ledger's Joker, you get your money's worth with A Dark Knight. Amazing action sequences, twisted philosophical dilemmas, and so much . . . darkness. If I could say one thing to director Christopher Nolan after seeing this film it would be, "You've changed things... forever. There's no going back. See, to them, you're just a freak... like me!"

With all of the hype that surrounded this movie I was very skeptical upon seeing it (especially at midnight on its grand opening). However, Dark Knight does not disappoint. Even that late at night the movie demands the audiences attention in every way. Even in scenes that are not action packed the acting has elevated to a whole new level.
Heath Ledger's performance is nothing short of amazing and if an Oscar nomination doesn't come of it I will be very suprised.
Aaron Eckhart did a good job as two faced although the one downfall behind his character is that I feel it evolved too quickly and wished it could have been done over two movies, but what are you going to do?
Overall the movie is well worth the money anyone is going to pay to see it and I HIGHLY recommend it.
The one thing I would say that as an early educator and already hearing some of the kids in my classroom say that they are going to see it has caused me some discomfort. I would not by any means consider this a kid-friendly movie, so some caution may want to be exercised in that department.

The Dark Knight is truly touching and dramatic. The movie is action packed to the extreme. It will bring tears to your eyes. It will even make you laugh. Heath Ledger as the Joker was incredible. Unbelievable preformance from him.

I enjoyed the movie, I thought the sets and back drops were fantastic but plot a bit to busy. In my eyes, Heath Ledger stole the show and was amazing, RIP. The action sequences and gadgets were good but the movie may have went to long. Somce scene could have been left on the editing floor.

So, like millions of other movie fans, I saw THE DARK KNIGHT on opening day. Having heard so much about it (hype), and being a Batman fan I had high expectations for this film. So here is a basic spoiler free review
Was it a good movie? Yes. Was Heath Ledger great? Yes. Is it the best movie ever made? No. Should it win best picture? No.
A very complicated movie with tons of sub plots pushed this movie to the 2 hour 30 mark. Much could have been dropped (Hong Kong anyone?). While the Joker storyline worked well, I also felt that the movie was too heavy in the beginning (read: busy) and wrapped too quickly at the end. They gave much more screen time to origin story of Two Face, with little pay off at the end. I wanted more on that bit OR it should have been left for another film Yes it served to fulfill the line about "being a hero so long one becomes a villain", but was anti climatic.
Too many times I looked at my watch (a great indicator of a "long" movie and I don't necessarily mean in terms of length!).
Did I like it? Yes, very much so, but not to the degree of the fan boys and the Heath mourners. Aaron Eckhart is truly being overlooked in this film, as he becomes the most sympathetic character. I know the Batman movies are all about the villains, but I hoped for more from Nolan.
Should you see it? Yes...it is a prime example on how "comic characters" can interact in "dram" set in the real world: nothing flashy and cartoony. On this merit I think it worked fantastically.

Don't get me wrong, this was an awesome awesome movie... But, it was lacking in some areas.
The Joker was brilliant, making the movie suspensefully frightening instead of gorey frightening.
Maggie as Rachel was bad bad bad (and I didn't think it could get worse after crazy ol' Mrs. Cruise).
Overall it was almost too dark (yes yes, I know that name is dark knight). Dark is ok, but I appreciate the feeling of the bad guy getting it good or a semi-happy ending. This movie left me feeling... blah afterward.
Also, the fact that there were minor climaxes scattered throughout the second half of the movie, instead of one superly fantastic climax was, well, oddly enough anti-climatic.
This was a good movie. Period. I would see it again, recommend it to my friends, and will see the sequel. I do not however, agree with this being the masterpiece that it is being hyped up to be by some people.

Simply the best comic book movie ever made...should go beyond the genre and be regarded as an all-time great film. Performances are excellent all around, Bale and Ledger had an excellent dynamic with one another, must see!

It was pretty dark but great and follows the theme of the day in Hollywood right now, your favorite character + the dark side of their personality.
It was a good movie and Heath, the joker, is great. There is one scene where he laughs on a video and it is so perfect, it is actually a tribute to the original Joker (from the TV series).
My only beef probably is that Maggie G is just not that hot to me and I miss the Kim Basinger style of character from B1. I have yet to figure out who would have been more "believeable" yet so I can't bark too much.
Otherwise, a great movie and a great combination of reality and comic book.
