We all thought that 'Batman Begins' was good. However, the general public did not anticipate the follow up to be even better. This stellar flick did not just present a battle between good and evil, it presented a moral dilemma. Does Batman reveal himself to the Joker, thus, sacrificing himself for the safety of the city and becoming a martyr (probably the most seemingly utilitarian way) or does he continue to fight crime as Batman and cause more deaths to his love ones? This movie also presents the downside of being a hero (similar to the way 'Spiderman' did) which is, although Batman strives to do good, he is regarded at the end of the movie as evil. This is just the plot. Next, everyone has to commend the acting. Christian Bale and his co-stars were good, but everyone can agree on the fact that Heath Ledger stole the show. Ledger went out with one hell of a bang. He really was not afraid to truly get into the deep essence of his twisted and conniving character. I, and probably many others, got the feeling that he was not acting, he was being. This movie has out-shined every other movie in 2008 (most of which were duds) and will undoubtedly have numerous Oscar nominations.

Wow. I was quivering leaving the theater. That was definitely the best movie I've seen in a long time. Heath ledger is a GOD among men, and now, will be immortalized (at least in my mind) as the best joker.
A few minor complaints though. First, the story took a turn from the comics. I didn't really expect an homage to the fans, and I was happy they went in a different direction with the characters.
Second, I know that the style of the last batman movie and this movie is meant to mimic a comic (sort of) and be fast, having sharp transitions, but there were parts in the movie that the effect became jarring. This happened especially between scenes with completely different tones. This was worse for my me and my friends because we were sitting in the fourth row (lack of seats).
Third, the movie has multiple climaxes. This can be done properly, but only if both plotlines are fully developed in a valley-format. Mission Impossible had a huge action moment at the beginning, and then still had time in the movie for a rising action till the climax at the end. But in Batman, there are literally places where you think "omg this is the best part" multiple times. It gets a little exhausting, and the way the plot goes, the last climax is a little less a "big deal" than the first ones.
Despite these minor problems, it seriously was an amazing movie. I'm seeing it again.

I tried not to get into the hype, but I just couldn't help it. My favorite characters of all time in a movie that didn't seem afraid to show who they really are.
I came to the conclusion the other day that as interesting that the batman character might be, people go to the movies to see the villan. Ledger did it perfectly. There was not one thing I would have done differently with him.
You wont be wasting any time or money seeing this movie because the cast (of course ledger) was amazing.
Just see if for yourself. Oh! And be prepared for a movie thats almost 3 hours. Well worth the wait and I am looking forward to seeing it again soon.

From start to finish,all the twists and turns,the actors with Great performances, this movie is fantastic. Heath Ledger rules the screen. I didn't think it was possible but I wanted the bad guy to win. Christian Bale makes Batman a true Hero with attitude. I expected okay to good. I saw Great. So it did exceed my expectation. It will for you too. I actually will go again to see it. You should too.

I am what you would call a movie nut and this was by far the one of the best movies i have ever seen. Start to finifh the visual effect the plot everything were excellent. Heath ledger was amazing. Its all about the joker, nothing eles. This story to me was a little long and could have been cut down a bit when ever Batman (Bruce) was on screen. But it all made up for it whenever you see the Joker (Heath) on screen. Now this movie was great, but I wouldnt say that it was a 5 star. Only 4. I wish that they saved Harvy (Two-Face) for the 3rd batman because there was a whole lot more they could have done with this character but overall they did a great job. I dont know why but Bruces old flam "Rachale" look old in every seen that she was in. In real life the actress is a very pretty person, why they tend to make her look old and tired was beyound me.........."Did I mention this movie was all about the Joker?"

A great movie experience.
It has raised the bar of comic book movies, this was one of the best action / adventure movies I have seen.
As an old comic book reader, I was very happy that the back stories of the characters were familiar, and not recreated for Hollywood.
Much of the focus has and will be made of the late Heath Ledgers performance, I was blown away, I forgot during the movie that I was watching an actor.
That is the best compliment I can make.

If so, Heath Ledger's haunting performance as the Joker is certainly deserving. He was the stand out of the film, but was supported by great acting performances throughout. (Loved the replacement of Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal, whose acting chops are more...shall we say...'seasoned'.) And the script was perfection. The Dark Knight stays true to its name and ends on a rather dark note, but my first thought as the credits rolled was to wonder how long I would have to wait for the next Christopher Nolan gem. The audience even clapped -- does that ever happen anymore? The Dark Knight looks to be the highlight of the summer releases. Do not miss this film.

I was suprised that Heath Ledger actually lived up to all the hype. I thought he was a good actor and all but I thought it was going to be one of those things where everyone was making him out to be way better than he actually was but I was not disappointed! He is the modern day James Dean, it makes you wonder if he would've gone on to be the next Johnny Depp.
I didn't like Batman Begins because Christian Bale annoys the pi$$ out of me with his pursed lips and horrible "Batman" voice. And there wasn't enough about the rest of the movie to make me like it overall. But I really liked The Dark Knight in spite of Christian Bale. Although I was really hoping that the Joker would kill him in the end.

Heath Ledger's performance is legendary. He captured everything that the joker is supposed to be: psychotic, disturbed, sarcastic, twisted. No one in this film disappoints. There are so many twists that I did not see coming (and a few I did) but t...(read more) his film kept me glued to the edge of my seat for the full two and a half hours. Some complain it's too long but I was thoroughly engaged the entire time. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. See it on the big screen. Expect suspense, fear, laughter, sadness and everything in between. One of the great movies of our time.
