It was very good for the first 2 hours. The Joker was awesome! I agree with the oscar buzz out there. It was very entertaining, but the only character that was effectively developed was the Joker. The movie needed to end with the creation of two face in prep for a sequel, but instead, it went on and on and on trying to wrap up a second villain in the plot. Not to mention a less than polished character in two face. The face was obliterated, but the eye on the same side was always moist and was not damaged. Just didn't buy that. Anyway, of course, I would recommend it, but I would warn... as I was warned by many, of the unnecessary length.

Heath Ledger was brilliant in this movie! He went to the depths of this character to portray a sick, devious mind. He was great. Christian Bale did an outstanding job as Batman as well. I have never seen Batman so "dark". I thought the movie went a little long. I thought it could have ended when the DA's character turned into Two-Face and they could have began the next movie with that character.
I would recommend that this movie not be seen by kids under thirteen because it is sooo dark almost depressing at some points. But it was action packed with great sound effects, fighting and car chasing if you like that.

I am not big on summer blockbusters but this movie was fantastic... i thought everyone in the movie was perfectly casted. Every performance was flawless. I thought Aaron Eckart''s performance was the best in the movie.. you leave wanting more of the movie.

Hype aside, this movie stands on its own two feet. Ledger is amazing . . . but Bale is good again too. Hard to follow at times (some side stories or references to past movies that don't seem to make much sense). It's a must-see for any batman fan.

This is perhaps the best sequel ever! While there are many characters and a lot going on, the viewer is still able to keep up. The movie is in line with the graphic novel, and stellar preformances by Ledger, Bale, Ehckart and Oldman make this perhaps the best ever comic-to-film movie ever!

This movie more then exceeded my expectations. Fantastic acting from all parties involved. Ledger's performance was darker then I could have imagined. His immersion into the role was fantastic. Giving the Joker an image of not just "the bad guy", but as real Evil. Christian Bale gives another amazing performance as the Batman and places a recognizable difference into the roles of Batman and Bruce Wayne. Director Christopher Nolan pulls the viewers in deeper by giving the audience content which relates to modern day issues. All in all one of my favorite movies of all time.

Lots of flash and bang violance. Some story line, but little in keeping with the comic series: especially related to Two Face! But if you allow for literary license and forget the comic series and TV show, then not bad at all.

this batman was the darkest and most realistic one that anyone could of hoped for. a man torn between himself to revenge the loss of his parents with the rage inside of him. he however can't go past the line that would make him no better than the ones he targets. heath ledger was truly the perfect joker, and no one can ever play that character again. jack nicholson should be proud, because heath took the joker where even "JACK" couldn't. this is the MUST SEE movie of the year.

This movie was just phenominal. Heath Ledger's performance was legendary. Before I saw it I thought all the hype was just in respect to him since he passed... it's not! The storyline, script, effects, everything all incredible. Batman Begins was a 2-, Dark Knight is a 10++.

Rather long and drawn out. Maybe after repeated viewings I'll like this movie. I had the same reaction to Batman Begins and just didn't get what all the fuss was about on that one either. Heath Ledger's performance was good and I would like to have seen more of him instead of Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. The Dent storyline took up too much time in the movie and didn't add much in return.

I am not a Batman fan. Not a follower, not a comic book reader, not even well associated with the genre except for the Adam West series on the tube when I was a kid.
I AM a lover of action movies and this is absolutely one of the best that I have EVER seen. Almost from the opening credits, the viewer is catapulted through two and a half hours of action - from explosions, to wild street chases, to fist fights, and on and on and on! What a wild ride!
Unbelievably, my date and I walked away from the Theater and her comment was "There was no foul language and they never smacked you in the face with goriness". She was right! The goriness was implied, but never shown. The fear was palpable, but you were never forced to keep your stomach down like in many other action movies that supplement the action with a healthy dose of gore.
It was good old fashioned fun! A wild ride that was entertaining all the way from beginning to end!
My only complaint? If you didn't see the first Christian Bale "Batman" movie, you miss some of the inside references that are part of the storyline going into this movie. Not a standalone as far as the storyline goes, but you can immerse yourself in the story being presented and not really missx out too much. I definitely recommend seeing the prequel before seeing this film - it makes the story so much meaningful if you have. If you haven't? You're still in for a GREAT time!

It would be great to see a "comic book" movie win an Oscar. This one definitely deserves it. The only weak link was Maggie Gyllenhall. She was too light weight for the somber tone of this movie. Otherwise, it was very well acted.

Ledger's portrayal of the Joker is legendary. In my book the greatest movie villain of all time. There are absolutely no dissappointments about this movie. The battle seens between the joker and Batman remind you of the old comic books. Definitely a movie worth watching at least 2 times at the theater. CAN't MISS.

Everyone told me that Heath Ledger did such an incredible job as the Joker, so I was expecting quite a lot going into this movie. Boy, was I definitely not disappointed. It's such a shame he offed himself because a followup Joker role would have been greatly anticipated.
The plot was incredible with incredible action, great unexpected plot twists, and quite a few scenes and characters that realistically strained and questioned human morality. You really felt the depth of the dilemmas many characters found themselves in and wondering if you could make the same decisions. This movie was all about the characters and character development, in my opinion.
If you haven't seen this yet, buy your tickets now. I'm definitely going see this again.

I have no real complaints, but no real rave reviews about the movie. The star of the show was by far, the Joker. It is a shame that Heath Ledger died at some point during the making of the film. It was definitely the small details that made the movie stand out. The screen play with its twists and turns was fantastic and they definitely left room for a third installment.
I'm not sure though, why I don't want to give the movie a better rating, it did have some humor, but perhaps I just wasn't that crazy about the acting or while the movie had a lot of action and things, it was really nothing too new.
