Incredible in all regards. Ledger vanishes into his role as the Joker and he has such a presence there is a feeling that he could jump out of the screen at any second. Bale continues to be both Bruce Wayne and Batman. This is the first superhero movie where I had no idea what would happen next because the plot twists were actual twists. The gadgets are even better. I do not know how a sequel could be made because this is, along with Godfather II and Terminator II, a sequel that vastly superior to the original.

Even though this movie was excellent anyway, the best part of the movie was Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. One of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. He "was" the Joker. He oushined everyone else in the movie, even though they were very good.

Incredible movie! Will see again in theater. I love Christian Bale as Batman, but he was in the background compaired to Ledger, Oldman and Eckhart (the next BIG thing!). Heath Ledger has shown us his real talent. He must have loved this roll - his shining moment ,as an ugly, wierd, nut-case. He was funny too. Please make more Batman movies (w/Bale)!!

My expectation was high and it surpassed what I thought Batman and the Joker would be. The movie elevated to another plateau for comic book adaptations. The special effects and graphics were good but the special part of the movie was the character development. The Joker entered into your mind and you really feel that this guy has absolutely no rules which means he cant be helped. He's pure evil with no rationale and that made him all the more special to the plot. Batman was faced with real decisions and his ethics questioned time upon time again. Its a bout that speaks to something deeper about life in my opinion. We all face good and bad on a daily basis but what is the true character that you'll show in times of peril is the question. Id like to think that Id die to be righteous and to be moral..id be a Dark Knight..lol...go see it!! classic.....

The Dark Knight is everything a Batman movie should be, and much more. It is an extremely appropriate title because this movie is very dark and twisted and personally, I loved every second (and so did the rest of the packed theatre).
The movie is two and a half hours long but flies by smoothly thanks to the incredible cast, action sequences, outstanding editing work, and the fact that the plot is so sick and twisted from the beginning to the end.
This is an entertaining movie for anyone to watch and enjoy. All ages, any social stereotype... you will love this movie.
I do not want to spoil any of the movie and I won't, but get up right now and go watch this movie!!! This movie is a must see for ANYONE.
Overall Rating - This movie is worth the 12 dollars at the theatre and is a must own once it is released on DVD.

The Dark Knight picked up right where Christopher Nolan left us, recreating the joker, two-face and the rest of the heroes in his new vision of Gotham. THe movie was well paced and enough action counterpointed the more important stretches of dialogue. Heath Ledger nails a maniac madman and Cristian Bale brings his formidable portrayal of Batman back to us. If you like the Batman series, you will have already seen or plan on seeing this. If your not a fan, maybe its time to become one?

Holy crap on a stick Batman, that movie was everything I hoped it would be, and then some. Everything from the acting to the characters to the plotline, action, effects...it was all PERFECT. They took it to the edge of being rediculous and then turned it back a notch, just where it needed to be.
I originally assumed all the hype about Ledger's performance was only because of his death. As I have great respect for him as an actor, I expected it to be great...but his performance was extraordinary! For once the hype didn't even live up the reality.
This is the best Batman movie yet.

It's been a very long time since there has been a movie where I really wanted to see it on opening day and it didn't disappoint me. And this movie surely did not dissappoint at all. Heath Ledger was just as good as, if not better, than Jack Nickelson when he played the Joker. He really made you part of the movie as if you were there. And all the action scenes were so intense, it had me on the edge of my seat. The entire movie had me thinking of what was going to happen next. Highly recommended.

I liked this movie--please don't get me wrong. But. . .
I think Ledger's performance is only OK. I don't think it was particularly amazing myself, and I believe the Oscar buzz has more to do with our collective guilt over his premature death. This performance is nothing to write home about. It is not complex, but it is a good rendition of a socio--path. And I think the Oscar comments have more to do with the unusual character--but I don't think the Joker is complex, and I don't think Heathc Ledger gives a complex performance here. He makes about 3 different facial expressions many times during the move and postures well. But I don't think that is an Oscar performance.
I think Gary Oldman and/or Aaron Eckhart deserve more mention here. It is Eckhart's character be complex and convey a major change in this movie.
As to the movie itself--it moves great and it is a nice thrill ride. But I think Batman Begins is a better movie. This one has way too much going on and tries to tell too many stories. I think they could have dropped the Two--Face story line and Eckhardts character completely and wound up with a better and shorter movie. Plus the 2-Face story line could be its own sequel.
On the other hand, you wind up with a 2 1/2 hour movie, which--when you consider the outrageous ticket prices these days--helps to lower the cost per minute to see this film. So see it, and think of it as two movies for the price of one.

Heath Ledger's performance is amazing as the maniacal Joker in the follow-up to Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan's sequel is better than the first and despite the 152 min. running time the movie never seems to drag on. Christian Bale continues to prove that he is far and away the best actor to ever become the Caped Crusader. Great performances all around. Go and see this movie, and then see it again and again.

The Dark Knight is absolutely unbelievable. Heath Ledger, God rest his soul, truly is the best villain to ever appear in movies. He plays the Joker who is a rather clever criminal who is almost impossible to find... let alone capture or kill! And what would Batman be without Christian Bale? Bale is Batman once again yet is he really a "hero?" What does it take to stop men like "The Joker?" What does Gotham City need for their salvation? Ladies and Gentlemen... The Dark Knight.

One of the few summer blockbusters in recent years that has actually lived up to the hype. I'm not a huge fan of action movies, but this one brought me into it with compelling characters and a well-written storyline (though the story had some minor flaws, part of which was being unnecessarily convoluted) in addition to well-directed action scenes.
As predicted, Ledger's performance was outstanding. If I hadn't known it was him, I never would have guessed, as he completely disappeared into the role. The other performances were solid, as well.
Aside from the story being unnecessarily convoluted, the film also lost me a bit with a plot development later in the film, involving the Harvey Dent character (trying to avoid spoilers here), which I felt was a bit out of place, affected the pacing in the last 30 minutes or so, and made the film too long.
Overall, though, a great effort by some talented people, and this one definitely deserves being seen on the big screen (which is high praise for me).

Living up to all the hype and then some; Nolan's masterpiece perfectly captures the graphic novels' dark, anarchic moods. Less pop entertainment and more Shakespearian than any other comic book movie to date, Ledger's Joker is a must see performance and definitely Oscar worthy. You will forget that there's an actor under all that smeared makeup. At a running time of 152 minutes, this movie will leave you wanting even more.

There was a lot of hype built of for this installment of the batman flicks - and this one certaintly did not disappoint. Christian Bale again brought a brooding element to the role of the caped crusader - a hidden pain that was very compelling. Half billionaire playboy, half dark secret life - stuck somewhere between freak everyone is afraid of and the hero that everyone wants to be. This dichotomy was the driving force behind the movie.
This installment featured a healthy mix of old batman and new. First, it seemed like Batman always had what he needed in that belt - and obvious homage to the Adam West version. However, that is pretty much where this one broke the mold. The Christian Bale batman is dark and angry - almost frightening at times. Although strong in one scene - he almost appears vulnerable and weak the next, looking for a way out so that he can be with his long time crush. However, in my opinion I would rather have Kim Bassinger or even Katie Holmes instead of this choice. This break in character is strange and acts as a significant change from the traditional hero mold of batman.
The late Heath Ledger is above and beyond the best part of The Dark Knight. Ledger malavolent and chaotic, combined with well timed comedic relief. The Joker always has the advantage of the best lines, but Ledger takes the advantage and rolls with it. Jack was great, but Heath was better. He was more psychotic, more evil, and most importantly, more random. The world is going to miss him and the amazing verve he brings to his roles.
While at times The Dark Knight gets a bit long, the ends justifies the means. The ending is everything you expect and more, and it leaves us lusting for what happens next. Whether its the Ridder again, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, or even cowboy outlow Shane, we will all line up to see what happens next.

Dark Knight was everything expected and I expected a lot. After all of the anticipation and waiting there was no disappointment. The adrenaline rush was however diminished by knowing that Heath Ledger passed away after filming and seeing his amazing performance left a sense of loss that was also a theme in the movie. I would recommend not only seeing this movie but seeing it more than once.

It was so very dark! The Joker was sick. I mean SICK. Unlike the Joker from the first Batman, this Joker was disgusting. Personally, I thought it was really good acting from the whole cast. All the characters were played really well and accurately. Just a side note, but I wouldn't take small children. It's just a little much. Enjoy!

Not your normal 'summer blockbuster', this movie has levels and elements within it that set it apart from those that have come before it. There is something compelling about the good and evil in each of us, but told through the context of fear and personal choice. What will each person do when confronted with the choice between personal loss, including death, and/or loved ones? I was very engaged by Nolan, in how each of the key characters had a part to play and act when in this situation. Ledger was so compelling that each scene played seamlessly and the nuances were totally believable. Well worth seeing before any other movie this year!!
