One of the few summer blockbusters in recent years that has actually lived up to the hype. I'm not a huge fan of action movies, but this one brought me into it with compelling characters and a well-written storyline (though the story had some minor flaws, part of which was being unnecessarily convoluted) in addition to well-directed action scenes. As predicted, Ledger's performance was outstanding. If I hadn't known it was him, I never would have guessed, as he completely disappeared into the role. The other performances were solid, as well. Aside from the story being unnecessarily convoluted, the film also lost me a bit with a plot development later in the film, involving the Harvey Dent character (trying to avoid spoilers here), which I felt was a bit out of place, affected the pacing in the last 30 minutes or so, and made the film too long. Overall, though, a great effort by some talented people, and this one definitely deserves being seen on the big screen (which is high praise for me).
