I was skeptical about all the hype around Ledger. I felt it was just a pr rouse to get him an Oscar because he died so young and unexpectedly! I must say, his performance was outstanding! It is indeed his best work! In my book the mark of a GREAT actor is to make you feel the character he is portraying, Ledger did that and more. The movie was great, all of the actors did an outstanding job! We will see it again, probably even buy it.

I was a little worried that they were going to ruin this movie with multiple villains, ala the previous Batman movies, but I have to say, this was so well done that I couldn't imagine NOT having them. The acting, the storyline and the special affects were superb, the casting, incredible. The only sad thing is that we won't be able to see Heath act like that again, he was absolutely creepy.
Christian Bale is really the first actor to nail the Batman/Bruce Wayne character as I remember him from the comic books... Batman is the real person, Bruce is the lie.
Excellent job, I can't wait to buy it on DVD!

Simply awesome ... Joker was too good and too real to be true ... reminded me of Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean ... the story and direction were perfectly balanced ... nice movie after a long time.

This batman movie adds a little dark and scary to the batman series. I think Christian Bale makes a very good batman/Bruce Wayne but Heath Ledger steals the show and lives up to the hype of a great Joker character. A lot of action, not totally predictable, and you get an intro to another villian in the series so I am sure they have another movie in the works.

I'm still in awe of this movie a few days after I saw it. Heath's performance was just unbelievable and I'm really sad that we'll no longer get to see him in movies. This movie has everything.... action, laughs and even some sad parts. I would see this movie over and over again!

Hey there!
I loved this movie for so many reasons, most of which are mentioned by previous reviewers. The action, the amazing Joker performance by Heath Ledger (we will miss you!), the special effects, and a storyline that flowed well throught the 2.5 hour movie. You don't even notice the time passing.
Keep the very young from seeing this film - it isn't for the squeemish... and called THE DARK KNIGHT for a reason. The violence and menace that is portrayed by the insane Joker is mostly done by set up, rather than viewing direct gore... but it gets the point across. You won't be wondering what just happened, but you won't necessarily see blood splattering here-there-and-everywhere.
Heath Ledger's performance was both humorous and disturbing. He really brought the character from the Frank Miller comic book novellas to life. The intensity in the little movements and touches will leave you talking about it for days to come.
I have seen the movie twice since it's release, and plan to see it at least once more (this time on IMAX) before waiting for it's DVD release. Kudos to Christopher Nolan... your movie vision did not dissapoint.
Please consider going to see this movie - you'll enjoy it very much :o)

Oldman was excellent, as usual. Caine delivered with his masterful subtlety. Freeman made his presence known, even though his scenes were brief. Bale as Wayne delivered the angst I've been waiting to see. Ledger. What is there to say, that hasn't been said already. This was his movie, his Joker, THE Joker. He didn't put on the Joker costume and makeup. He BECAME the Joker. It was hard to tell who was consuming whom...the actor, or the role. We'll never know for certain, but perhaps it was a little of both. Bravo, Heath. Bravo.

This is one of the best movies of all time. I can definately see the reason why people are throwing around suggestions that Heath Ledger receive an Oscar for his performance as the Joker.
I am very glad to see that Chris Nolan has made lightning strike twice and has successfully revived the franchise after the Clooney era.

It is everything you've heard and more. The acting is as strong as the special effects, and is really how it should be - even for the big summer blockbusters. This is the model of the future and I think the blockbuster genre is heading in a new direction.
I loved that Nolan stayed away from CGI and got back to the core of movie making. I could tell and appreciated it. I couldn't tell Heath was in the movie, which tells you how well he played the Joker. They had set it up for him to make return performances in future sequels, and of course, now that is not possible. Nor will it be for them to replace him. Christian's performance is as strong and I loved seeing them on screen together. Kudos to the rest of the cast. All very strong - Michael, Morgan, Aaron, Maggie... Thanks for a great ride - and will be going back again before the summer's over, which I have not done in many years!

This movie is probably the best Batman movie to date. Heath Ledger demonstrates a depth and creepiness not generally seen in his performances. I wouldn't be surprised if he won a posthumous oscar for his characterization of Joker. This movie was well casted, and used great special effects. If I were to offer a negative, I think it was a little too long.

I don't think I have ever seen a movie that completely blew me away, until now. It actually took me a few minutes to gather my thoughts after walking out of the theater. 'The Dark Knight' is the best movie I have seen in YEARS!! The cast was excellent, all the actors were great but this is Heath's movie. There isn't a good enough word to describe his performance, Superb! or Excellent! just doesn't seem quite right. I was actually saddened while walking to my car for the thought of him being gone, and of all the talent lost with just this one actor. I am utterly speechless............

The movie was filled with layers of parallels with questions we ask about current social issues and morality. The movie had moments of fantasy, super-heroism, but overall, Gotham felt too much like NYC. I would have liked to see Gotham a bit more fictional. The Joker and Two-Face were performed extremely well. Gordon was well cast. Gyllenhall is usually very good, but she was miscasted. Bale's intensity made up for the lack of dialogue in his character. The movie had great action sequences, but overall, the movie was slow. The editing from one scene to another was choppy at times. I enjoyed the movie overall, it was fun to escape into an adventure for 2 1/2 hours.

After months and months of viral marketing, I think the fanboy nation can breathe a sigh of relief - it was all worth it.
This film was astonishly satisying. Everyone brought their A Game. Heath Ledger left me speechless; every time the Joker appeared on screen I knew I was in for a treat. Aaron Eckhart deserves props for pulling off Two-Face so very well. See it one, two, three times. The one and only truly excellent film so far this year.

This movie looks into what it means to be a hero--what one is willing to do, to be, to sacrifice, to endure. It asks essential questions about what is right, what is wrong, and what is necessary.
And Heath Ledger's performance was truly spectacular as the villainous foil and agent of chaos. Ledger was so good that I doubt the producers of the franchise will be able to use The Joker in the next sequel or two.
I would highly recommend this film to any of my friends.
