The Dark Knight is not just dark like Batman Begins. It takes it to a whole new level. Little humorous moments, the movie is a serious adventure the whole way through. You see Batman struggle with both of his identities and his attempt to stop the Joker.
Heath Ledger portrays the Joker as most have never thought of before. Not dancing around like a clown or goofing around. But a dark sadistic madman who is a genius in his own way. It is rare to see someone portray so well a character that has no appreciation for human life, but Ledger does not disappoint.
It is rare lately to find a movie that is worth the expensive ticket price, but The Dark Knight is definitely a worthy investment for one's ten dollars. Best movie of the summer, hands down.

Absolutely fantastic. Heath Ledger gives great performance, but Oscar talk may be a little over the top. Definately best and darkest interpretation of Joker seen on screen yet.

Wow, this movie was great it did not feel like i was in the theater for 2 and a half movies. I was in awe, the movie was visually stunning, and it was great. the characters were stunning, the plot was fantastic and it started off where the last one left off.

I'm an adult who took my 11 year old nephew for him to enjoy, thinking I wouldn't like it & be bored to death. Was I wrong! I was on the edge of my seat, and wasn't predictable at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was definitely not disappointed in this sequel. Although I would consider it a long movie with it's running time of 2 1/2 hours, I never found myself looking at my watch wondering "how much longer?" Thus, I felt the plot was wonderful and moved along at a nice pace. I also felt another great job was done on character development. If you like the first one and are thinking about seeing this one...GO ahead and see it!

The second installation of the Christopher Nolan Batman was just as dark as was expected, maybe a little too dark. Performances were amazing with Heath Ledger posthumously deserving of an Oscar for the way he pulled off the terror and humor together. Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent was also impeccable. However, the character development of Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman was mostly only in conjunction with the Joker. Maggie Gyllenhaal had the hopes of beating Katie Holmes' performance in "Batman Begins," but surprisingly she failed miserably, in my opinion. From a screenplay perspective, the maneuvers with certain terror sequences were brilliant, unexpected and either served the Joker's themes of chaos and/or showed why Batman is a tainted "hero." However, there seemed to be too much packed into 2.5 hours. The balance of action vs. character development tended to fall on the more fast-paced catastrophes side. On the whole, though, an excellent film. The cinematography and the content fit the desired Joker/Two-Faced creepiness. But it does leave you thinking, "Why so serious?"

This is honestly the best Batman movie ever made. The movie was 2 1/2 hrs long but I didn't even know it until I got out of the theatre. I want and will see this movie again, soon. All the actors were amazing!!! Heath Ledger played an extraordinary joker.

Before this movie came out there was a lot of hype about how heath ledger would play the joker. I have to say that he did not only live up to the hype, but exceeded my expectations. The only thing that i didn't think was really necessary in this movie was the change in batman's costume. Other than that though everything was great. Definitely a must see movie.

This Batman movie is the darkest vision yet. Heath Ledger's Joker would eat Jack Nicholson's Joker for breakfast! There are loads of unpleasant surprises for Batman as he growls his way through the second half of the movie. Aaron Eckhart shines as Harvey Dent. Academy Award winners Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman provide solid support.

I have never been a batman fan. Only saw one movie when I was younger because my aunt made me. But the previews for the dark knight really caught my eye, and needless to say, i was very intrigued. Everybody was a little interested to see Heath Ledgers final performance, and he did not dissapoint. His portrayal of the joker was absolutly incredible, sinister, evil, witty.. I dont think anyone could have done it better. Christian Bale was a great Batman, he played the bat and Bruce Wayne marvelously. I wanted to be entertained for 2.5 hours, and I most certainly was

people just don't talk in clever one liners for well over 2 hours without missing a beat. Heath was good but how many times can I hear his story about how he got his scars in one movie? Barman himself was good but only one mood and level the whole time, like he was stuck in that mode. This story wasn't good enough to take that long to tell. They coulda told this story in 100 minutes easily. directors ego check maybe?

Batman Begins was more "fun", but then again we'd been warned to expect something even darker this time around. And The Dark Knight certainly delivers on darkness! And Heath Ledger's Joker was something else--not sure what, but definitely unique. All cast and performances were excellent. I'm a big Christian Bale fan, and he remains a superb Batman/Bruce Wayne. And Maggie Gyllenhaal is a big improvement over Katie Holmes. But all in all, I think Chris Nolan tried to cram too much into one movie--too many villains and too many plot lines that could have been better developed in perhaps 2 movies. By the end it just felt incoherent and confusing. It left me feeling the need to see it again so I could figure out what was happening, especially in some of the action sequences--particularly in the Hong Kong skyscraper and the last one involving cell phones and sonar. I'm not turned off the franchise, not if Nolan and Bale are involved in future installments, but as I indicated at the beginning, my reaction to Batman Begins was "WOW!!!", and after this it was "Huh? What just happened?".

I am writing you after having just seen the movie Batman. I am outraged to say that this Blockbuster has done an injustice to the people all over this nation who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness. In the movie, Jokers hitch men are portrayed as (quote from the movie) "paranoid schizophrenic" and "my master told me that if I did this, then the voices would stop." These were the people who helped Joker maim and murder the innocent Gothic city citizens. Joker, himself, was portrayed as being crazy, a mental case, hence the reason he enjoyed all the death, destruction, and mental games he planned and participated in. I went tonight to be entertained. I left feeling outraged. Once again, the entertainment industry is perpetuating the message that mentally ill people are dangerous. Mentally ill people are violent. The cause of evilness is mental illness. This is just not the case. I am writing this to send out a voice of awareness. My hope is that I open your eyes to what you are really watching on that screen... a stereotype being perpetuated, which in turn leads to unjust prejudice and discrimination.

let me show you a magic trick. i will make this pencil disappear! ...I thought because of Ledgers death , that we were all expecting the hype to be an amazing villain. And it was true, the Jokers character was the best villain I have ever seen. Very complex and intriguing story line and unpredictable. That is saying a lot since this is a Remake. Intense. Character Development evolved in a sensible and subtle way.

Heath Ledger(God Rest His Soul), played the best psychotic Joker ever! He was really a believable character. Christian Bale is the sexiest Batman ever! Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are awesome as well !!!!! Oh, and Commissioner Gordon, sorry I don't know his name!!!! I could go on forever, everyone did a fantastic job!! Two Thumbs Up!!!!

Movies about comic book characters are fun to watch, especially with my son who is very much into graphic novels and comic books. We have seen just about all of them. But this one, I found to be just plain frustrating. The joker is supposed to be fun and laugh and play with toys, etc. This joker was all about chaos. I wanted someone, anyone to just kill him already; but no one ever took their opportunity. For me, there was just WAY TOO MUCH chaos. I would only recommend this movie to guys who love that sort of thing.

It may be a bit long, but the action never ends, and Heath Ledger is unbelievable-- totally different (and darker) than Nicholson's Joker. Probably helps to see Batman Begins to totally appreciate all of the characters in this movie.
