As a comic book fan, I have always been highly critical of movie interpretations of comic characters or graphic novels.
Spider Man and Iron Man have come close to getting the right feel for the story line and to be honest I was starting to wonder if DC would ever get it.
Low and behold, I give you, "The Dark Knight!" They got it, they really got it. Tim Burton blew it, and the films that followed kept getting more ridiculous.
Thank you Christopher Nolan. Brilliant directing and astonishing action!
The actors performances were tight and believable. Too bad the genre itself will most likely be a negative for any chance of Academy Award® nominations.
LOOKING FORWARD TO BAT MAN 3!!

The violence was overkill (pun intended). The action sequences came one right on top of the other; there was no sense of building to a climax and then anti-climax. The hype over Heath Ledger's performance is due more to his recent demise than actual skill. Perhaps more credit should be given to the screenwriters who created his demented character.

I saw the Dark Knight on thursday!
I was already super stoked about it and had really high expectations for it.
This movie met all of my expectations and then some!!
I thought that everyone did a phenomenal job in this movie. Especially Heath Ledger. His performance as the Joker was absolutely amazing! I don't think anyone else could have done the role of the joker better than Heath Ledger.
The movie was AMAZING! defiantly worth seeing again!

This movie was everything I was hoping it would be, and more. Me and my husband have been looking forward to seeing this movie since we heard about it, and since we loved Batman Begins (and we are both huge Christian Bale fans) we were really excited. I've only sat outside a theater for 3 hours one other time, and it was so worth the wait. Christian Bale is amazing as Batman, yet again (Oscar anyone??), and Heath Ledger was mesmerizing as the Joker. It was bittersweet seeing him on screen, knowing it was his last finished project. You could tell how much he put into this role, I have heard about talks of an academy award nomination for him, and I have to say, I think he deserves it. Honestly, I didn't look at the Joker and think, "hey thats Heath Ledger" I looked at the Joker and was seriously creeped out, he totally became the role. But as a whole this movie and all the acting in it is astounding and I will be buying this the day it's released on DVD.

Briefly ties to Batman Begins, but for just a few minutes, thankfully! The movie would be easy to watch without ever seeing "Begins." No nudity, very few curse words, and no mutilation is shown. However, some mutilation is implied, but it could scare small children. Movie is worth watching repeatedly, so I'd also recommend buying the DVD!

I'm not going to say what everyone else has said. It's good. We all know it's good. But to me it feels like the middle of a series. I don't think the story is over and done with. And I don't think that a review should be given to an incomplete product. I think there's more coming and that's the way I felt after the movie. It's like asking how you liked a tv show that you haven't seen the series finale on. Well not really like that because tv shows are inherently designed to be enjoyed in small pieces where as the big screen movie genre is GENERALLY supposed to consist of individual works of art. So yeah. It was good. But not complete.

I thought Heath Ledger gave a great performance, but the movie seemed to have a little too much happening for one movie, I would have like to see a little more back story developed. It was almost is if 2 movies were crammed into one. So, while there were issues, The Joker, made this a 5 star review, without him (or an actor who didnt do such a good job with him) I would only give it 4 stars

This movie will go down as one of the "MUST SEE" movies ever. Joker was perfection!, played by the late Heath Ledger. Story Line alot more complex than the first movie, but easy to follow.
Some action scenes were abit rushed but still "Very Intense" from open right up til the end of the movie without the rollercoaster feel of nothingness afterwards.
Batman will not disappoint you at all, if anything it will make you ask " What's next for the Batman CHRIS NOLAN?".

The Dark Knight is a rare sequel better than its predecessor(s). This movie is filled with action but very little of it is pointless. Lots of things blow up, there are some spectacular chases where the audience was "oohing" and cheering, but that is not this movies' strength.
The Dark Knight has one of the best written characters in recent memory. Heath Ledger's Joker is pure evil with a tinge of ironic humor. He makes you (and the rest of the audience) squirm in your seat and feel very uncomfortable. But, most of all he makes everyone play his game and live out his impossible, horrible scenarios. The plot twists and moral conundrums are unexpected from a "comic book movie". Christian Bale is no slouch as the dark light to Ledger's chaotic plots. He holds his own when on screen with the Joker and works well as the billionare playboy and the Caped Crusader. Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent is also well cast. His demise into Two Face is slightly predictable (if you've read any of the comics) but still well done. Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman are back again as very capable and critical role players. Maggie Gyllenhall's Rachel Dawes is decent and central to the overall conflict of the film. But, sometimes I just felt like she was out of place and an unnecessary distraction from the Joker, Batman, Harvey Dent relationship.
Overall, this movie was worth every minute of its 2:30 running time. It's a shame that Heath Ledger cannot ever reprise his role as the Joker. But, after this latest installment, I think that the Nolan Brothers are firmly entrenched for the forseeable future in excellent script/story writing for Bale's Batman.

Well, I was a little worried with all the hype surrounding The Dark Knight, but I can honestly say that the movie more than lived up to the hype and then some! You have to understand, I have been reading DC comics since the early 1970s, and finally Christopher Nolan has made a movie that honors Bob Kane (Batman creator) and the countless artists, writers, and editors of comics that pour their hearts and souls into creating escapism for their readers! Thank you, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and all the other fine actors for believing in your craft and sharing your amazing talent with us! I truly enjoyed this movie, and I plan to see it again and again! Here's hoping for more in the future!
