The movie surpassed my expectations. I thought the movie was being hyped because of the Ledger story, but after sitting thru the entire movie, I can at last say I had just watched a movie well worth the price of the ticket....I can see the movie continuing on with all the well-known villians in sequels. I will no doubt be waiting for them.

The only thing wrong with this movie is that so much happens, that after 2.5 hours you are just exhausted from anticipation, suspense and exhaustion. Every actor did such a superb job, I couldn't pick a favorite performance.

Excellent screenplay and acting throughout. The plot twists and turns and keeps you on your toes the entire time. Heath Ledger redefines The Joker and should win many awards for his performance. While it does not hold true to comic book origins in this movie, it does not take away from the entertainment value of this film at all. True Batfans will enjoy it as much as everyone else.

Hands down, the greatest, most realistic superhero movie ever made. I own over a thousand movies and have seen thousands more...this one will be in high rotation as soon as I can own it. I have already planned to see it again this weekend. Heath ledgers, Joker is by far the most believable insane villain that has ever been portrayed on screen. Perhaps in real life. A real Charles Manson meets Jack Nicholson persona....WOW!

The movie is Excellent, although extremely violent. Heath Ledger gives a very scary, convincing performance, probably worthy of an Academy Award nod. The others in the cast were terrific with the exception of Maggie G (the new Katie Holmes). She played the part (in my opinion) way to snooty and didn't look like anyone these two guys would be vying for. I would recommend this film to anyone 13 & over. Not approriate for younger children.

Although I am not an expert, still I am no stranger to Batman. This has to be the first time that Batman/Bruce Wayne was ever captured as a supporting character. Everyone was so much MORE than him that the character fades and becomes a vehicle for the other charaters to build upon. Don't get me wrong, you couldn't have a Batman movie without him, but he still was used as a plot device. the characterization was on the nose for Ledger's Joker (as the orignal writers must have envisioned all those years ago-before they decided to censor the character). The one character that suprised and impressed me was Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent. How this major character slipped under the radar of many critics astounds me. It was exactly what I would expect for a Dent slash Two-face rendition. It makes Tommy Lee Jone's version seem like a sad and disrespectful nighmare. I recommend seeing it just for that, even if the whole movie stank. (thankfully it didn't)

In my honest opinion I still think the original batman (Keaton/Nicholson) was the best of the series, however Heath Ledger's perforomance was FANTASTIC!! I think that Ledger steals the show. Nicholson's/Ledger's performance were both great Jack's was more comical, Heath's was more evil (closer to the actual comic book joker) He migtht get some oscar love for supporting actor. Overall non-stop action for 2 and a half hours. I will definitely see it more than once while its in theatres.

Anyone claiming this to be a 5 star or oscar movie needs to get out more.
Batman Begins was better.
The Joker was played excellently, but the movie really draged when he was not on screen.
About 1 hour into the movie youll find yourself checking your pulse and nodding off.
Just way to dramatic and trying way to hard to be deep and moving.
It was good but nothing special. It just wasnt fun to watch, to drmatic and over the top with character speeches and nothing fun other than the Joker.
I expect Hellboy 2 to be much more fun.

I wouldn't spend the time to fill this out if I didn't love the movie. I've seen it twice already and it opened yesterday. The story is fantastic and Heath Ledger played The Joker perfectly. Really a dark and gripping thriller.

this movie ranks up there with gladiator and pirates of the carribean part 1 as the best movie ever. great movie, Joker made the movie great. Heath Ledger was crazy. He deserves the oscar for his role. This movie was without a shadow of a doubt an EPIC!!!!

Absolutely AWESOME! Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and cast contributed to making The Dark Knight as great as Batman the Beginning. Heath Ledger is so deserving of an Oscar for his performance. This will definitely be one I will add to my DVD collection as soon as it comes out.
