This movie was incredibly epic. The action and the acting was amazing. Christian Bale was excellent (as always) as the caped crusader, but my eyes were on Heath Ledger. There has never been a better Joker in all of Batman history. His fearless portrayal and overall knack for acting totally made the movie. It is without a doubt that Heath Ledger's last act was his most golden; an act definitely worth an Oscar.

An all-around amazing movie. It felt like no compromises were made in this movie. The story keeps delivering, the action is stunning, there are a few neat surprises, and the characters are all absolutely well-done. Heath Ledger is as amazing as you've heard. Dark and brooding, menacing and morally complex, this film takes the comic book genre to a whole new level. Forget Iron Man, this is the film that sets the standard that future films in the genre are to be judged by.
Heath Ledger's Joker is no comic creation, as could be said of Jack Nicholson in 1989's Batman. This is a psychopath, a cousin, almost, to Alex from A Clockwork Orange. This performance shows what a true loss his death was to the acting community because he commands your attention in every scene he is in.
When you read about possible Best Picture nominations about this film, believe it. This is the best film of 2008 so far.

A misunderstood hero takes flak from the public for his unilateral methods of taking out the evil in his world. He sparks a response in the form of a mad man who will kill anybody anywhere anytime,including blowing up buildings, and is not afraid to die himself. He does it for not money, but his own twisted principles. The hero distorts his own rules to find the fiend, leading to the existential crisis, do I become the madness to stop the madness?
Nope it's not President Bush and his war on terror, it's Batman, but his crisis comes to the same conclusion, which is basically- there is no solution. (No, I really didn't give anything away with that one.)
The Dark Knight may not be a real political commentary, but it definitely sends a message that no one in power is really going to save us. We have to save ourselves.
The film rocks with deep characterizations, especially from the late Heath Ledger, and asks some genuinely disturbing moral questions. The violence is definitely not the kid's comic book type. The Joker could be in his own 70's slasher movie. Yet, for all the hype, the story is thick with plot and adds a piece with Harvey Dent that could have been left as a whole third film. It looks incredible , and the action scenes are thrilling, but in the end, it's too long because they tried to do too much. Go see it, but get ready to talk to someone about it afterward to get yourself out of the funk it puts you in.

This movie by far is THE best. Unfortunately, Batman isn't really the star. Yes, the star is/was Heath Ledger. He outdid himself in this more than awesome newest rendition of Batman. Fantastic movie! Bravo,Heath. Best performance of ANY "Joker." Wish you were here to see how good it was.
The real question is: would people still have gone to see this in droves if there wasn't the death of Heath Ledger. Go and see for yourselves.

BUT IT WAS BETTER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER 7 BATMAN MOVIES. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS MOVIES IS THREEFOLD.
1) THEY CLAIM TO STAY WITH THE COMICS STORY AND THEN KILL OFF TWO MAIN CHARACTERS, JUST LIKE THE OTHER MOVIES, AND THESE CHARACTERS HELPED DEFINE WHO BRUCE WAYNE/BATMAN WAS AND IS.
2) HEATH LEDGERS PERFORMANCE AS THE JOKER IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE WANNABE JOKER GANG OF THE CARTOON SERIES BATMAN BEYOND. THE JOKER WAS NEVER COWARDLY AND IN THIS MOVIE HE IS MORE COWARD THAN SUPER VILLIAN.
3) ANYTIME THE SUPPORTING CAST STEALS ALMOST EVERY SCENE IN THE MOVIE AND THE MAIN STAR(S) SEEM TO ONLY BE GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS FOR A PAYCHECK INSTEAD OF THE ENJOYMENT OF ACTING IS VERY SAD AND DETRACTS FROM THE WHOLE MOVIE EXPERIENCE.
THE SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE GREAT. AND THE BATMAN GADGETS ARE ON PAR AS ALWAYS JUST LIKE JAMES BOND. BUT AGAIN, JUST AS IN BATMAN BEGINS, CHRISTIAN BALE WAS FLAT AS BOTH WAYNE AND BATMAN. AND AGAIN I FOUND MYSELF MORE INTERESTED IN THE CHARACTERS OF LUCIOUS FOX, ALFRED, RACHAEL, AND LT./COMMISIONER GORDAN, EVEN ERIC ROBERTS CHARACTER - MOB BOSS MORONEY. EVERY SCENE THEY HAD THEY STOLE AWAY FROM WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BATMAN OR JOKER SPOTLIGHT. EVEN THE BATTLE BETWEEN BATMAN/JOKER WAS FLAT.
THE STORY WAS A GREAT STORY, AND THE CHARACTERS WERE RIGHT ON PAR FOR THE MOST PART AS WELL AS THE SPECIAL EFFECTS BUT POOR ACTING BY THE TWO MAIN STARS GREATLY DETRACTED FROM THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS. SADLY ALL OF THE MOVIES EXCEPT FOR BATMAN AND BATMAN RETURNS, HAVE BEEN A BIG LETDOWN FOR COMIC AFFICIANADOS FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. THE ALLSTAR PERFORMANCES OF JACK NICKELSON, MICHAEL KEATON, AND DANNY DEVITO, HAVING THOROUGHLY "BECOME" THE CHARACTERS AND MAKING FANS GO "WOW! THAT WAS JUST LIKE IN THE COMICS! Outstanding movie. Casting was perfect with the excepting of Katie Holmes not returning as Rachel. This was Heath Ledger's best performance of all time; he was comically twisted and made a perfect portail of the Joker. The movie kept you rivited to the end, keeping intune with the title. The special effects and actions scenes recieved several applauses throughout the movie because the delivery and timing with flawless and awe-insipiring. They truly out-did themselves.

I usually don't go see movies on opening weekend. I haven't been this excited about a movie coming out since Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. The Dark Knight did not disappoint. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker completely stole the show. I think it is better that Jack Nicholson's version. I also like the fact that Batman was alot edgier and tougher. This is hands down the best movie I have seen in a long time.

Oh where to start?! This movie is pure brilliance at it's finest. Every aspect of this movie kept a continuous smile (and sometimes flinch at the twists and turns) on my face. Even as a person who typically does not enjoy action or cartoon-based flicks, I was never once bored or agitated at the length of the movie, and found myself yearning for more as it ended. I would recommend this must-see movie to anyone who has two eyes and a working brain!!!!!!!!!
