Dark and brooding, menacing and morally complex, this film takes the comic book genre to a whole new level. Forget Iron Man, this is the film that sets the standard that future films in the genre are to be judged by. Heath Ledger's Joker is no comic creation, as could be said of Jack Nicholson in 1989's Batman. This is a psychopath, a cousin, almost, to Alex from A Clockwork Orange. This performance shows what a true loss his death was to the acting community because he commands your attention in every scene he is in. When you read about possible Best Picture nominations about this film, believe it. This is the best film of 2008 so far.
