this movie has taken the superhero movie to the next level it is a real legit movie. The superhero movie has alway used the strength of it comic book popularity to put movies out. This movie need none of that this movie can stand alone base on the quality of the script, acting and directors vision. This is really an oscar worthy movie it visual's, acting and the director's use of sound is amazing. The story line is strong and can have been place in any non superhero movie which makes it strong and some of the best dialog in a american action movie in a long time.

This is an incredibly haunting movie. Heath Ledger's portrail of the Joker is frightening, however you can't wait for him to show up on screen. Christian Bale is awesome as Batman. All the acting in the movie is wonderful, as are the special effects.

This movie has a lot of great elements: A suspenseful crime story with gangsters, cops, and mixed loyalties, an action movie, and a lot of great political and philosophical themes that center around the idea that people need "more than the truth" to get hope and inspiration.
So in short it was a great movie because it combined a fast-moving plot, big themes, exciting action, and great acting.

Heath Ledger played a remarkable Joker role equaling Jack Nicholson in the original movie. It's a shame he is not here to get the praise he deserves. Christian Bale does Batman and Bruce Wayne well. Seems like he needs to go to anger management class though. It got a little confusing at the end or maybe that was just fatigue setting in. It's a long movie and maybe went 15 minutes past where it should have ended. All in all a movie worth the $10.50 spent...times 3 since I had my kids with me.

This movie needs no review. Go see it for yourself and enjoy having your expectations FAR surpassed. Christian is of course amazing and Heath keeps you on the edge of your seat every moment he's on the screen. When the entire audience is engaged and reacting, you know you've got a HIT!

This movie is outstanding and deserves all of the great reviews.
I'll just point out the negatives because the positives are endless: The action sequences can be a bit jumbled at times and difficult to follow which is one of the few negatives. The other is the portrayal of Rachel Dawes, which is weak.
Heath Ledger is unbelievable and is unrecognizable as this sex symbol from previous movies. He is a sick Joker who's make-up and persona worsen throughout the movie which is amazing. I never once realized that he was Heath Ledger. Just amazing and I would say Oscar worthy for best supporting actor. Actually in this movie, he's the lead actor in my opinion.
If you liked Batman Begins, The Dark Knight is likely one of the best sequels to any movie I've ever seen. Finally a movie worth the $8 to watch it.

All the hype surrounding the movie is true!! An excellent cast of characters where no one person in the movie isn't given the chance to shine! You may want to think about bringing young kids to this movie. Some scenes are too intense for kids under the age of 10.

This is a good movie, and the performance by Heath Ledger (sp) is indeed very good. However, I did not think it fully lived up to the hype. When all is said and done it is still a fairly typical "comic book" movie. It was a bit long as well.

Excellent action, believable evil, a little contrived, but well worth the ticket price. You are struck by the loss of such a great actor as Ledger.

Great follow up to Batman Begins.
They pick up where they left off and they hit the ground running. Excellent aerial shots and stunts. The acting is superb! Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhall (way better than Katie Holmes!) and especially Heath Ledger, awesome cast. Heath and Christian work well together and their chemistry is apparent, Heath's maniacal Joker and Christian's rules-bound Batman are the best hero/villain combo ever!

Clocking in at 2.5 hours, TDK was long and had a number of sub plots and villains but was unlike any other superhero movie to come before it. For the fanboys, the actual scenes with the Batman were great as can be expected, but the non batsuit scenes were equally as exciting and really well acted. Heath Ledger is a shmuck for dying young; this was easily an Oscar worth performance. Sick, always wetting his lips and mumbling to himself, he recreated the iconic persona of the Joker without being a joke himself. My only gripe is the hideously fugly Maggie Gyllenhal taking over for the almost as ugly Katie Holmes. Oh, one more gripe. Sat throught he whole credits and not one special clip...Ironman one upped TDK with it's teaser of the Avengers to come.

Typically hype surronding a movie or acting performance kills a movie. However, Dark Knight and Heath's perfomrance was outstanding. My only critique was that it was a little long. Not as bad a the end of the Lord of Rings, but at least 20 minutes too long.

This movie is great! I can't believe we don't have Heath any more, his Joker was amazing. Rest in Peace Heath. I don't want people to think he is the only reason to see this movie everyone in the movie did a great job. You really get pulled into this one. Fantastic movie, really. I'm not sure how it maintained the PG13 rating since it's extremely intense, but I think the rating was maintained because there's no blood/gore. All of the violence is there, but the movie doesn't show the blood spatter.
Psychologically it's a very disturbing movie. Ledger's Joker is iconic, and will be one of the best portrayals of that role movie lovers have ever seen.
It does drag a bit, somewhere around the 1:45 mark, people started looking at their watches, but no one complained.
All in all, 100% excellent movie, 100% worth watching in the theater twice.
