not one of the best Batman flicks I've ever seen although jam packed with action. Batman was relegated to second billing to Joker who did a spectacularly unnerving performance. No real surprises from Batman except for some insight into his weaknesses.

This was clearly the best Batman movie yet, and one of the best movies of the year. Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar hands down! This was a classic struggle of good versus evil with a realistic moral dilemma torn right from the pages of the original comics. Plenty of action and special effects. One of the things I really liked about this movie was that it was the most realistic to the original comic story lines and the special effects were all believable. The moral struggles of Batman trying to be true to his convictions while being tested by the Joker made this a true Batman story where the character seeks to find meaning in what he is doing. In this way we see Batman as human. We can all relate to him as he searches for meaning within himself and in life dating back to his childhood. We see the real example of Batman who is a hero for his beliefs and convictions more than his physical actions. A true hero of the people! This is a do not miss on the big screen.

WOW is the only thing i can say....just an amazing piece of filming. Without spoiling the movie... the two main characters each need each other and the dynamics of the depths of which they both have to go to is well... Dark and Amazing.
Go See this movie....and see it again right after...

Wow is the best way to sum The Dark Knight up. You get so caught up in the movie that you forget that Heath Ledger is the joker. Which Heath gave an outstanding performance as the joker. Christian Bale is Batman as far as I am concerned. I can't wait to see it again, because so much is going on I am sure that I missed something. I can't wait to see the next one.

The Dark Knight features fantastic acting on the parts of Bale, Ledger, and the entire cast minus one or two lesser thugs. The best part of this movie is that, while not lacking in action or the elements of the comic which will have fanboys constantly pleased, Nolan managed to create a film that told an incredibly believable story. Overall i would recommend this film to anyone who liked/loved the first, or anybody who likes action, drama, and great storyline.

I'm not a huge fan of comic books that have been made into movies. I'm also not a huge fan of batman. But all I have to say is "This movie is definitely worth seeing on the big screen, you'd be making a huge mistake not to see it there."

Very exciting, full of suspense, and for the scaredy cats like me...violent and scary! I loved the cast: Bale, Ledger, Freeman, Eckhart, Caine, Gyllenhal... loads of talent in one film. My only criticism is the length: two and half hours is long, especially when you've been downing soda since the previews! Definitely a movie to see in the theatres with surround sound, a big screen, and someone to grab onto during the scary scenes!

The movie doesn't have a dull moment. There's a lot of things going on, underling stories, and to retain and observe all of them in the 2 1/2 hours you get is difficult. I think I'll plan on seeing it again.

This was possibly the best movie of the summer and the best Batman made to date. I am a huge Christian Bale fan and he did a fantastic job. Keith Ledger was awesome as the Joker, I was skeptical at first, but he pulled it off flawlessly. I still love the original Batmans that I grew up with, but this new series is so much better. The acting and plot was top notch. I have been anticipating this sequel since I saw a preview last summer during transformers. I can't wait to see the next Batman. Next movie up is the new 007 in Nov. Go see them both.

Terribly uneven, pointless, distracting plot twists - and at least 45 minutes too long. Ledger played it just right - not too over the top, but a good blend of evil, humor and even charm.
Rent the DVD and skip to the Ledger parts. The rest is quite forget-able. One good action sequence: Batman causing a truck driven by the Joker to flip over.

This movie should have been called "The Joker." Heath Ledger put on an amazing performance as the Joker and stole every scene he was a part of. He added so many little 'ticks' to the character that made watching him in action a pleasure.
Christian Bale continued to perform well as Bruce Wayne and continued to use his annoying batman voice.
The action and pace of the movie were great. For a 2 and a half hour movie, you didn't get any feeling of it dragging on.

This was an excellent, tightly written story told in a very straight forward manner. Unlike many of the other 'cartoon' movies there was no camp and nothing but 'realism'. Even the sets were realistic, not cartoonist and the reference to Hong Kong and the visit brought it up to date.
This is an adult Batman and I rank it as one of the top three movies I've seen in a while. Keith Ledger's performance was fantastic and played very strongly against Christian Bale's fleeting hope
Bye the way, I would NOT recommend this movie to any child under 10. It was violent in physical, emotional and psychological terms.

I hope people understand me when I say this movie was too good. Any sequel in this franchise, I'm afraid will never be able to top it. I will love to watch them try though...
Heath Ledger's Joker was perfect. This is the Joker we had been wanting to see, we just didn't know it. He constantly shows us no matter how many little ticks he has, it doesn't take away from the fact, he's got a plan laid out for every angle.
Christian Bale's Batman has just the right mix of flaws, morality and humanity. He's the first Batman I can think of (in film) that ACTUALLY disguises his voice so as to not let on to the fact he sounds just like Bruce Wayne. I also believe that the WAY he speaks as Batman is another way he strikes fear into those that encounter him, with his demanding, almost garbled voice.
Gary Oldman's Gordon is a calm, cool and collected soul. When things are out of control, you can see that he is in control and able to think clearly and act speedily.
Maggie Gyllenhaal's Rachel Dawes would own Katie Holmes' Rachel in a fist fight. She was more strongly opinionated, more resolute and all together braver than Katie could have ever made the character.
Aaron Eckhart did a great job as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. It was easy to see his evolution from one to the other in the movie and didn't seem at all too sudden.
Michael Caine, I'm afraid has taken the crown from Michael Cough as the best Alfred of all-time. He does a great job of splitting his character with just the right amount of servitude and demanding towards Bruce Wayne always willing to give Bruce the slap upside the head he needs to think clearly.
Morgan Freeman rarely disappoints with his performances and this is one that he again delivers perfectly on. He too is always willing to do what Bruce asks when it's in line with what's right and quick to (respectfully) question him when it isn't.
This movie differs from other movies in how some movies the story is just there to get you from one action scene to the next. This film is the other way around (in a good way) as the action is shown to progress you further along into the story. None of the action sequences appear to gratuitous, they are exactly what they need to be for the scene and the story. not to mention jaw-dropping every step of the way.
I'm not one of those people who gives away every scene of a movie in his review and I don't think ONE scene or moment from this movie needs to be told to someone to encourage them to see it. Each and every scene, each and every actor in this movie is spot on. This is definitively the BEST comic book/superhero movie of ALL time. In addition to that, Star Wars 1-3, Pirates and Matrix Trilogy, Harry Potter Franchise, bow down to your new King.
Go see it and if you can, in IMAX. Just make sure you don't miss a second, so I suggest you enter the theater on an empty bladder.

I have to admit...the joker (aka heath ledger) stole every scene away from every other actor listed on the credits. Even though Maggie Gyllenhall who is as sexy as ever and Christian Bale also did an excellent job..as usual...this movie hit every nerve that needed to be hit...or ever itch that needed to be...well...you get the point! This movie has everything you are looking for in a movie....it's a must see!

It's long, but moves briskly with great pace. The story is incredible for a "hero movie". Well thought out, few (if any) holes.
Characters are developed so well you feel like you understand how their minds work and why they do the great (Batman) and horrible (Joker) things they do.
Heath's Joker is something else. There's been so much buzz online that I was ready for a let down. Didn't happen. Heath's Joker is up there with Hannibal Lectre, big shoes to fill for the next movie!
IMO - the best movie I've seen in a while.

This movie was absolutely amazing. Heath Ledger was one of the best parts of the movie with his amazing acting. He really brought out the true personality of The Joker. Overall the acting was great and the special effects were even more amazing than Batman Begins. I recommend this movie to everyone, even the smallest Batman fans. I wasn't a fan of Batman until I saw this movie coming out. Then I decided to see Batman Begins before I went to see this and now I love Batman.
