Simply amazing. I doubted Heath Ledger when they first cast him as the Joker, but his performance was amazing. This is the best super hero movie of the summer, hands down.

just would like to say I can't wait for the Watchmen movie to come out in March, see the teaser right b4 Dark Knight. Story was great in this movie, will definately go back 2 c again since i got stuck in the front row!
Ledger (RIP) should definately win an Oscar for this, Joker is right down crazy good! it's a shame he's passed on and we won't be seeing him in any other movies.
Nonetheless, franchise has other villains to pick up where this left off. Great job introducing Two-Face (Harvey Dent); CGI did a killer job on his face!

Many have critiqued this film for being 'too dark', but I would say its the first Batman that gives you a feeling of loss when death occurs. Death shouldn't be a funny or casual thing, so I'm glad someone had the balls to approach a comic book film like this. And Ledger's performance was burned into my brain...amazing, and I would hesitate to give such Kudos beings that everyone in the media has already jumped on the bandwagon (I assumed because of his recent passing) but I must give credit where credit is due. Its so unfortunate that such a talent will not be appearing on the screen again.

Although I did not think this movie lived up to the hype of all the reviews, it was definitely entertaining. Heath Ledger's performance took the movie from mediocre to very good. He is definitely one of the best movie villians in history.

I've already reviewed the IMAX version of this film from Thursday at midnight. On Saturday night, I saw it for the second time and ended up liking it even more. This is probably the best "super hero" movie I've ever seen. It is certainly in the class of 1978's "Superman," 1980's "Superman II," 1989's "Batman," 2002's "Spider-Man," and 2004's "Spider-Man 2"... not to mention its equally fantastic predecessor 2005's "Batman Begins." The first time I watched "The Dark Knight," I just took it all in. What was a 150 minutes seemed closer to 90... it literally flew by. On a second viewing, every piece of dialogue had a reason for being there, every single turn was exciting, and every word uttered by the Joker (played by Heath Ledger) kept me on the edge of my seat. Ledger's performance is on-par with the great villain work previously done by Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor in "Superman I & II") and Jack Nicholson (the Joker in "Batman"). I probably will go see this movie again not only because I want to (and trust me I do), but because I have to. I have to let this one run through my mind once more. This movie is a can't-miss experience from beginning to end. "The Dark Knight" is an example of what future summer blockbusters will be compared to, and probably (with few exceptions) fall short. This is filmmaking at its very best.

It was a fun movie. Some of the actors for certain roles could have been chosen better. Overall this movie to me was about humanity and some of the choices we make. I loved it.

What an unbelievable film. Fastest 2.5 hours in history. Heath ledger was unbelievable, Christian Bale is awesome and the Nolan Bros and Goyer wrote an amazing script. This movies goes well beyond being a good superhero/comic book movie and is just a great movie. Very deep and thoughtful and with the required action and explosions to keep everyone interested. This was the Batman movie I have been waiting my entire life for. WOW!

this is by far the best movie of the year. comic book movie? no. GREAT movie. it shows so much emotion that labeling it anything other than masterpiece is just wrong. Oscar buzz? no. I was very excited about this movie, but went in expecting to be let down. I fully expected for people to have overrated the movie because it was the last one Heath Ledger completed. I was 100% wrong. This movie exceeded expectations, and Heath Ledger was nothing short of brilliant. The 2.5 hours fly by and leave you wanting more. Christian Bale has become my favorite Batman, and Aaron Eckhart is very good in the role of Harvey Dent/Harvey Twoface. Caine, Oldman, and Freeman deliver as well. Very dark movie, I wouldn't take young kids to see it, but it's dark via the plot - not via gimmicks. I'm ready to pay $10 to see it again.

This has got to be one of the best adaptations of the Batman franchise I've seen to date, only one close would be Batman Begins. A lifelong fan of the Batman, this is the movie that Tim Burton wished he'd made so many years ago.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was the best. I would be surprised if he didn't get an Oscar for this.
But at the same time Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman wasn't so good. His voice changed so much that by the end of the movie you could barely make out what he was saying.
Another thing that I didn't like was that the music score was so loud at some points that you missed the dialogue.
But overall it was a good movie, a little too long but good nonetheless.
I would definitely recommend it, maybe even go see it a couple of times myself.

This is, by far, the best Batman movie ever, and the best movie based on a comic; actually, as a movie of any kind, I think it is the best I've seen in a while. Both entertaining, well written, excellent stunts and, most of all, wonderfully acted! Bale is the best Batman ever, Maggie is so much more believable than Katie Holmes but the prize without a doubt goes to Heath Ledger; he's just amazing! creepy, funny, crazy...he'll get an Oscar for this, and well deserved.
