Truly one of best movies to come out all year. Heath Leger was amazing. In spite of all the make up there was no mistaking it was him. His acting style came shining through. With its turns and twists you never wanted it to be over. 3 words to describe it....AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. And I don't even have to mention how great Christian Bale was!!

The Batman franchise has always captivated audiences of all ages. Batman Begins was a breath of fresh air for most of us who grew up reading the actual comic books. This new installment of one of the greatest icons in American superheroes, is one that outdone previous films and with The Dark Knight, director, Christopher Nolan and his inspiring cast have surpassed themselves. The action is just as amazing as Batman Begins as well as the storyline. This is without a doubt, Heath Ledger's greatest performance as an actor. He really did delve inside the psyche and personality of the Joker to deliver a performance of the Joker that will be remembered for years to come as the greatest performance within this character. It's a shame that we will never see Ledger stun us with his talent as much as he has in this film. Once again, Christian Bale has shown us the most indepth portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Michael Caine and Aaron Eckhart also wowed many of us with their supporting roles. On more negative side of this film, I really wish that Katie Holmes would have reprised her role as Rachel Dawes. Maggie Gyllenhaal did an okay performance as Rachel, but she really lacks the beauty and talent that Katie Holmes brought to the screen. The film is long which isn't really the problem if it were any shorter it wouldn't have done the story justice; however, who has 3 hours to spare to watch a film. In summary, The Dark Knight was a perfect blend of great acting, awesome action and effects, and an amazing story that brings the story of comic books to life. What else can you do with Batman?

Another tour de force from Christopher Nolan who understands and conveys beautifully the demons at the heart of Batman. Heath Ledger is amazing and this is a movie that needs to be seen at least twice to be fully appreciated.

Its been a long time since i've walked out of a theatre and said that the movie was worth every penny. That is how good this movie is. The writing is simply amazing, great cinematography, simply brilliant movie.

Overall a very dark film, but that was the point: he is the dark knight. Action-packed, funny, sad...a roller coaster of a movie that leaves you exhausted in the end, but the next day wanting to go back and see it again.

Overall, The Dark Knight was good. How ever, the plot was hard to follow at times because there were so many bad guys and i couldnt tell who was working with whom. Heath Ledger did an amazing job as The Joker and the actor who played Harvey Dent played a very good two-face.

I would gander that most people who saw this movie this weekend, are coming out and saying that it's the "BEST MOVIE EVER." It's definitely too soon to say that, but what I can say is that this movie has all the makings of a classic.
1. Heath Ledger's acting is remarkable in that I could not tell that it was him behind the Joker. When Nicholson played the Joker, you sure as hell knew it was the man behind all the makeup. Ledger becomes the Joker, and gives a wonderfully dark, yet also comic performance. Rest in peace, Heath, but know you went out in a flame of glory.
2. The plot, script, and casting was perfect except for two things. One was Maggie Gyllenhaal. Two was Christian Bale's fight sequences. Gyllenhaal was not cast right, and her acting was awkward and corny. I couldn't get behind her character; not to mention that Eckhart had to save her acting with corny one-liners. Bale on the other hand is a perfect fit for Batman except for the fact that his fight sequences seemed choreographed (who knew eh?). I can't get behind a hero that takes a henchman by the arm, waits 1 second, then punches the living guts out of him while he waits like a ragdoll. I know this is how henchman fight, but I'd love to have seen his fight sequences in a more fluid manner.
3. There's a reason why you have to come an hour before the movie to see this gem, it's just that good.

I'm partial to Tim Burton's two early '90's efforts, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the rebound of the Batman franchise thanks to Christian Bale's solid performance as the millionaire vigilante and Christopher Nolan's excellent direction. This film is action packed and has a little bit of everything. It is very dark and intense thanks to Heath Ledger's stirring performance as the eerie Joker. His untimely death adds a great deal of spookiness to the role. A posthumous Oscar might be in order. This film is a bit long, but it tells a solid story, asks some interesting questions of the characters as well as the viewers, and is the perfect summer movie experience.

I loved this movie. All emotions that you could want to experience in this movie, I experienced. Heath Ledger gives what I think is an Oscar-worthy performance, and I was actually sad at the end when I realized we won't see him again as The Joker... The cast is all-star. Maggie Gyllenhaal is a much better Rachel Dawes. Of course Christian Bale rocks. I loved this movie. Gary Oldman rocks. There's humor (very dark), suspense and thrills. See it!

I had high expectations heading into this one, as did almost everyone who's even vaguely followed the evolution of the Batman movie from the POP! ZING! SMASH! of Adam West's TV action adventure, through the exciting adolescent period of Keaton and Nicholson, and even through the hopeless malaise of Clooney and Schawrzenegger, that lightless time when it seemed that all hope for a good comic book movie had been dashed to the rocks far below.
Batman Begins shed a new light on our intrepid masked hero; enough so that a little joy and warmth might creep into our pathetic, poorly lit Batcave. But you know all about what Batman Begins did to revitalize this hero, don't you? Or else you wouldn't be reading this to ask the simple question, "Can they really make a movie that good again?" Yes. Yes they can.
And this movie great can be made without relying solely upon monolithic figures and images. It can race right to the heart and reside there, regardless of how disturbed the heart might become. The Dark Knight is proof that sometimes we need to destroy before we can rebuild.
And Christopher Nolan has rebuilt. With the help of an outstanding cast and crew, Batman can once again rise to legendary status (where he always was in that permanently adolescent part of my mind).
Technically, the film is just stunning. The visual effects are top-notch, the costumes and make-up second-to-none, which means that they all fit perfectly. Every scrap of clothing or spot of rouge makes perfect sense in its place on camera. In essence, the visual style is unnoticeable, which is really what special effects are all about.
Zimmer and Howard deliver a wonderful, visceral musical soundscape for the film, especially in the Joker's theme music (but more on that in a moment).
Christian Bale is spot-on, as usual, and his interactions with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman have evolved beautifully, as you would expect any close relationship to evolve over time. Gary Oldman serves a solid performance; Gordon is as good and idealistic as ever. Probably one of the biggest surprises was Aaron Eckhart. Perhaps I've not yet seen it, but I always considered him to be a fairly middle-of-the road actor. He has proven me wrong. Harvey Dent has come alive at last. Nothing personal Tommy Lee...
Another big surprise: Nolan couldn't find anyone better than Maggie Gyllenhaal? I think Katie Holmes might have even improved the part of Rachel Dawes. Gyllenhaal delivers a sub-par performance. Luckily, she managed not to damage the movie. Perhaps the whole idea was that she might divert attention away from herself? She was not what I would consider assistant DA material. I kept expecting her to hop out of the suits and dresses; throw on a flannel, some coveralls, and some waders; and sit down on the porch to whittle some. Maybe it's just that she perpetually looks like she's only had two or three hours of sleep. Who can say?
Of course, the biggest surprise of the movie, after all the hype, all the press, and the miles of blog gossip, what did we really expect from Heath Ledger? People love him as the Joker, but is it their grief that's blinding them to the possibility of a flawed performance? I would have to say no. I think it's sad that Heath Ledger died so young, but I don't really care. What I do care about is what he left us on his way out, and it's an inheritance befitting a king. The Joker was creepy and disturbing and absolutely unpredictable, as he should be. I found myself enthralled by Ledger's performance. He was so convincing and so... just mad. I couldn't take my eyes off of him, nor could I get his voice out of my head for a while. Unbelievable. For extra creeps, listen in to the Joker's theme music. It's quite subtle and you might miss it. It's that wonderful kind of soundtrack work that's quiet, persistent and unsettling.
The Dark Knight lives up to it's name. It's very dark. This is not really one for the kids; while the violence is not especially gory or disturbing, the themes of mayhem and madness are not suited for the little ones. They might be excited to see the new Batman, but it's one you should definitely screen first. It's a nightmare maker. Despite that, this is an amazing piece of film. Running almost three hours, it's an assault on the sense and the bladder. I recommend using the restroom first and holding it until the movie ends. It'll be worth the pain.

Given all of the hype preceeding this movie, I woul d have to say that it lived up to all of the expectations and then some.
It is full of surprises, events which will leave you gasping and a performance by the late Heath Ledger worthy of an oscar nomination.
His performance was exceptional and the psychotic behavior of the Joker was truly unpredictable. Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were no less than excellent.

This installment of the seemingly never-ending series of Batman films makes all the others seem like silly little larks. It is a great action film, but it is also a great drama, a great crime story, a great comedy, a great psychological thriller, etc. The fact that it is about Batman is almost secondary.
The performances are all fantastic, but Heath Ledger blows them all away. Before I saw the film, I felt bad for him having to recreate the Joker after no less an actor than Jack Nicholson carved him in stone. Ledger surpasses the master in this one. Maggie Gyllenhal is far superior in acting talent to cutsie scientologist Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman is perfect in his role, etc.
Go see it, and don't wait for the dvd. You won't be disappointed.

The cast in hole, in my option was very good. But Heath Ledger was great. It's hard to think any one else playing that roll with his type acting ability and doing this good. I thought the movie was a A-plus.

Heath Ledger as the joker lived up to all the hype and high expectations I read about before seeing this movie. He steals the show. The movie itself was like a ride at a theme park, never knowing what will happen next, with plenty of twists along the way. I definitely recommend this movie and can't wait for the dvd!

After having seen every other "batman" movie this one bypassed our expectations of being better than the rest. It captured the serious and the dark side of all characters. The twisted plot keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire movie. There are no boring dead spaces. One of the best action flicks we've seen in a long time.

Awesome movie. I have been waiting for someone to make a decent movie for a couple of years now. Most of the time I wait for them to come out on dvd. But this was by far the best movie I have seen in theater in a while. Thanks Heath, Rest In Peace you made the joker for real. And God bless you and your family and friends. Peace

This movie was really good. The only thing was it was a little more intense than I thought it was going to be. I just don’t know if I could watch it over and over again. Don’t get me wrong it was really good it was just intense.
