This movie is just to long and boring for the most part. Christiam Bale sinks as Batman and Heath Leger is just OK. Michael Caine plays a great Albert but thats not why I went to see this movie. I would give this movie 2 stars and that giving it more than it deserves. I think Hollywood needs to find a different formula for sucess other than comic book hero's converted into high priced movies.

I'm usually pretty skeptical about all of these comic book turned movies in the box office. However, this one really did do some justice to the series. I loved the Joker, he was phenominal in his role, and stayed very true to the comic I think. The action never gets boring, or too overdone. I have been comparing the greatness of this movie to be up there with Titanic. I would watch it over, and over again.
My only complaint is how ugly the lead female is, but thats just my opinion...at least she weighed over 90lbs I guess it could have been worse.
So to describe it all in one word: Amazing.

I personally did not like the Batman Begins, but this movie made up for it and will be hard to top.
This was not Batman at all. This movie should have been titled the Joker.
It was so deliciously disturbing.
There are no other words - Heath Ledger did a great job (May he rest in peace) and I have already seen it twice and loved watching it each time.
Note: Best effect when seen in theaters so don't miss out on that chance!

Awesome movie! Intense and engrossing from start to finish . . . I found it interesting that today's politics and mindset were so obviously reflected—the joker is more "terrorist" than criminal, something we wouldn't have considered in the same way ten years ago. Batman and his chief gadget man, Lucious Fox, (Morgan Freeman) have their own little FISA-like dispute too!

The Dark Knight" is an unexpectedly dark, menacing, and frightening movie. It's disturbing.
It should have been rated "R" and was, actually rated "R" until the producers lobbied the rating board over 5 times to change the rating. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN UNDER 14 TO THIS MOVIE!
Its commentary on human motivation and almost complete lack of morality is beyond hopelessness and despair.
The movie is also terrifyingly violent. The goriest violence, thankfully, cut away just before actually showing it, is none-the-less grotesque and horrible. There are monster-like characters, and images of human torture and mutilation.
While the writing intellectually addresses issues of psychology, the focus is only on the twisted nature of the characters, practically ignoring the nobler traits of the characters, particularly Batman. This causes the viewer to feel unbalanced and "lost" in the dark labyrinths of the characters' minds. One is also left with the distinct impression that Batman is just as twisted and valueless as the “bad guy”, leaving the viewer disillusioned and sad.
There are some redeeming moments in the movie, when human nobility and honor shine through. The Morgan Freeman character maintaines his integrity throughout, as does Gary Oldman’s character, along with a few other minor characters.
The performances, particularly of Heath Ledger, are intense and brilliant: almost too brilliant. "The Joker" is no joke, and one is left with the idea that one could interchange that character with any real life maniac: remove the character of "The Joker" and insert Osama bin Laden or Hitler, etc.
The cinematography was good - dark and at times lush, but not fabulous.
Other "Batman" movies, such as the George Clooney "Batman" had much more brilliant and creative cinematography.
Of course, all of the "Bat" gizmos are great and the action sequences well done.
Do NOT bring children to this movie. PLEASE! It will leave them with horrifying images and concepts that they will not be able to process. The intensity of the violence, darkness, and pathos of the movie is completely and totally unsuitable for children, even up to 16, but definitely too disturbing for anyone under 14 or 15. There were little children in the theater when I saw the movie which was distracting because their little minds were being subjected to, especially for them, terrifying and confusing content. This movie is for mature audiences only.

I loved the movie "The Dark Knight". This is literally the BEST Batman movie and Best Movie of the year. I loved "Hancock" and thought it was the best, BUT The Dark Knight took the cake. It will probably win an Oscar and many awards.

Wow is all I can say...action-packed, great twists in the plot, academy award worthy acting. An all-around 5-star movie! The best Batman movie to-date. Ledger matched Nicholson's performance as the Joker (and that's saying QUITE a bit!!). Will see it a few more times and I usually don't go to movies more than once.

Loved this movie! Fast-paced, interesting, fun, thrilling. No noe character stole the show, which made it even more powerful. The social experiment at the end was amazing. The plot was great.

I absolutely loved this movie! I don't read reviews ahead of time or buy into the hype surrounding Heath Ledger's death as the reason for the massive draws for the opening ticket sales.
That said, Ledger NAILED the part of The Joker like nothing I ever expected. He was brilliant in his depiction of this crazed madman we love to hate! It was rather poignant to see this as his "swan song", and there will never be another portrayal of The Joker as Ledger has managed to pull off. The bar has been set extremely high for whoever may follow in this role.
But The Joker is not the only reason I loved this movie. I had no idea that there would be two villains in this great summer flick! "Two Face" was excellent, and a far cry from Tommy Lee Jone's comical venture in the earlier incarnation of the same. The effects were just awesome.
Great supporting roles by Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Maggie Gyllenhaal round out this adventure.
And last but definitely not least, we can't forget our Caped Crusader ... Batman ... as well played as ever by Bale. The part seems to be made for him, or vice - versa! I really enjoy the darker tone of the Batman franchise, and hope that future versions of ALL the comics we see come to the big screen follow suit!
Enjoy yourself for the summer thrill ride that is "The Dark Knight"!

This was an amazing movie. The title is appropriate based on the characters. The Joker was amazingingly evil and unpredictable. Batman/Bruce Wayne is conflicted but resolves it in the end. Fun to watch Ben Gordon ascend to his rightful place. Two Face was also terrific.
Great Movie!!! I hope the Batman movies continue, there are alot of stories to tell. New villains to explore.
