This movie is the true essence of Batman. Always on the edge of breaking the rule.
Bale and Ledger phenomenal in their roles.
Story line was solid and characters were true to form.
I would watch this over and over.

I was prepared for a disturbingly dark movie based on reviews by local critics but found a rich and thoughtful movie. Lots of action and intriguing characters. Most talk is about Heath Ledgers incredible performance - and it is transcendant - but the acting is great across the board. Congrats to Christopher Nolan for making the BEST Batman movie!

I had high expectations for the Dark Knight already but the movie surpassed them by far. Heath Ledger did an awesome job playing the joker. Christian Bale did well as Batman as expected. This movie was awesome and it kept me begging for more.

Wow! This is a sensational sequel; no, a movie in its own right. The ensemble of actors is exceptional. The themes and storylines are coherent. The artistic and special effects are fetching and conducive to creating a dark and despairing world. The portrayal of evil is raw, lethal and unnerving. Heath Ledger as The Joker should receive an Academy nod for his performance. The hero, as found in the visage of Batman, is tainted by his own internal struggle to ascertain what is good in a corrupt world. There is no other Batman than that represented by Christian Bale’s creation. The best in man, as exemplified by DA Dent (Aaron Eckhart), who is struggling with issues of justice, shows how anger and hate can corrode the exterior (as surely as fire can remove flesh), to reveal a base and hostile inner working. The mythical story holds up very well. The filming builds within the imagination a powerful image of destruction without needing to show blood, guts and gore. Double wow!

If you want a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, The Dark Knight is the movie for you to see. Heath Ledger's Joker is brilliant. He brings such a genius and insanity to the performance that Jack Nicholson could never have dreamed of.
It is filled with non-stop action and surprises as the Joker has Gotham and its citizens under his treachery when the police and even Batman can't even control his madness.
With that being said, veteran Batman fans may be upset with the various changes to the original storyline.
Christian Bale's Batman/Bruce Wayne character is cold and does not produce a good contrast of a dark knight and cunning billionaire. That deep seated cold stare never even breaks for a smile throughout the entire thing. The stupid voice that he puts on as Batman is very unnecessary. It is understandable that he has to disguise himself, but that is what the mask is for. And what happened to the Batmobile? This tumbler thing was alright in Batman Begins, but by now Batman should be driving the Batmobile.
Aaron Eckhart's two-face portrayal falls very short and barely even competes with Batman Forever's Tommy Lee Jones.
Overall, the Nolan brothers change the original story to fit into his 21st century epic. There is no longer the inner struggle Bruce Wayne feels for the parents that were murdered right in front of him. And there is no longer the classic need to be the hero of the city.
If you can get past the little things that separate this Batman from the original one, I'm sure you will enjoy what will be the number one box office hit in America.

Definetely a very good movie to see! There was not enough of The Batman, his character was not strong. There was no consistency in the movie, it was as though it paused, started, and paused over and over again. Of course, the joker, Heath Ledger was fabulous! But again, misuse of the Joker, not enough of his wit and playfulness was used! Overall go see it, it is entertaining. Oh wait and the aka NEW / SAME bat girlfriend was so poor she should have just been left out of the movie completely.

The acting in this movie was very well done, but if there's a bad thing about that it made all the violence seem just way too real. I had 3 young boys with me and I felt guilty bringing them into this movie. I expected something much closer to the intensity of the "Batman Begins". The Joker kills with no remorse and if you have a conscience this move will probably bother you like it did me.

Wow. Every one turns in a command performance. Even "Tiny" Lister gives his best performance for one of the smaller parts he's ever taken. Don't know how they're gonna do the Joker in the future, Heath broke that role for anyone else.

The film lived up to all of the hype. A sure oscar for Heath ledger. He literally stole the movie. There were two sub routines that did not add significantly to the movie. The first was the Chinese money laundering figures and the Hong Kopng Capture, although the stunts were spectacular.
The second was the entire two face story line. Could have been editied out.
An A+ effort

The Dark Knight is not only a great superhero movie, it's a great movie, period. Heath Ledger almost steals the film as The Joker, licking his lips and seeming to savor every word of dialogue. But Christian Bale as Batman and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent turn in excellent performances as well. Christopher Nolan's direction allows the major characters to establish themselves, while moving the action along at a breakneck pace. Even though The Dark Knight runs more than two and a half hours, I was ready to watch still more! I am looking forward to seeing it again.

As far as comicbook movies go, I honestly have to say this by far one of the best I've seen. It's quite haunting. The movie gets you involved in these characters' lives, that you can come to understand and feel for their dilemas'. At first due to Heaths' Ledgers death I was reluctant to see the movie, but his performance as the Joker was so captivating that it made you forget of his tragedy if only for a moment. Everybodys' performance was just great, and with all the special effects such as Batman flying through the air from one building to the next was just enthralling.
My applauds to the writers and director a very fine film.

This is a great movie with FANTASTIC, committed actors. As a performer, I can appreciate the lengths & courage that Heath Ledger approached the character of Joker. Maggie Gyllenhaal replaces Katie Holmes in the role of Rachel Dawes, but this is hardly a problem. When the directors, writers, producers, and actors believe in staying true to the magic of Batman, you get a pleasing surprise such as this movie.

Worthy sequel to the excellent first film "Batman Begins". Just as good, possibly better, though definitely darker. Heath Ledger gives an amazing performance as The Joker. I thought the movie was excellent! Christian Bale is quickly becoming my favorite Batman. Heath Ledger played The Joker so well I got the creeps! I was a little disappointed that they killed off Two-Face so quickly. Maybe there's some Hollywood magic in the works that brings him back somehow.
