The movie title tells it all. This is a dark move and I would not recommend it for children. Over all it was very good. To much violance in the movie. Yes Batman and the Joker was true to their past incounters. A new twist was given on how Batman thinks. I think we all should take the movie to heart and remember that move power you have the darker you may become.

Well… OH MY GOD!! If there was ever a movie that must be seen then it is “The Dark Knight”!! Nolan and company actually get the Batman mythos and have successfully [yet again, I might add] thrown down the gauntlet for superhero genre movies! From the opening scene to the shift in attitudes at the end of the movie, the concept of Batman has never looked this good! If they had never mentioned “Batman” I would have sworn I was watching a gritty crime drama, full of character development, twists and turns and feasible character progression. However, the one thing that made this movie work for me on so many levels was the handling of Batman in relation to his greatest nemesis, the Joker! This was not the Tim Burton angst ridden Batman of old. This was the Batman who values life and has a code to live by as well as being the best detective and all around BADASS of all time [just check out the Hong Kong extradition scene]!! It was the Batman that made you believe in human potential and redemption. Not only that, but the late Heath Ledger was the best Joker I have seen in any media version. He was mental with a subtle, “ordered” insanity that made his Joker the most believably, terrifying character to ever grace the big screen.
Do I think this Batman film will garner any Academy Award nominations? Well, I will leave such ponderings to people who are far more capable in the art of film critiquing than I. However, I do feel that this new Batman has accomplished what few sequels have ever managed to do… Out perform its predecessor. I think the best aspect of this film was that it was not necessarily a continuation of the first movie. Instead, it was like a new episode of a very strong series, introducing new, credible threats and giving viewers more insight into the main characters and their motivations without rehashing what has come before. In short, this was Batman at his best and showed the potential of DC Comics’ properties and what can be done when in the best hands. The success of Batman should make Warner Bros take the DC properties more seriously and work on developing strong stories, instead of settling for mindless action flicks that degrades them to nothing more than mere comic book characters.

All I have to say is: WOW! The plot was compelling, the writing was superb, and the acting was intense. Heath Ledger will be remembered in future generations for this film.

i'd give 4 1/2 stars. here's why...
-ending: too long, rather than epic
-sound quality: not the best (music too loud, overpowers dialog)
-effects are excellent overall with a few exceptions, i.e. exaggerated use as in missing face half, digitalized backgrounds, etc.

This was just great entertainment. Great action, well done stunts. My favorite was when the motorcycle met the wall.
Movie ran long, but I'd watch it again.

so far I have seen this movie 4 times and it is only Sunday nite and I'm going again. My friends and I think it's great Heath played an awesom Joker. Jack was great but this is a whole new level. Great movie. Yes so far about 30 of us have gone several times.

I went in to see this film thinking, "Can it live up to the hype?", "Ledger's death, wow what a marketing tool that is." and "Do I have to sit in the second row again?".
Well, to all three of those questions the answer is a resounding "YES!!!" Good thing I bought my tickets on-line cause I would have never got in. But I got second row 2 nights in a row.
This movie lived up to the hype, from the no-credit beginning till the Movie title ending. Heath Ledger was a great Joker and thank god you couldnt tell it was him. Now we can have the joker in another Batman film, even in Ledgers death.
I will not review this movie explaining parts of the film. I will just say that if you are over 13 and you have not seen it, you should. One other thing moms and dads (and parents that just use those terms) this is not a film for children. It is violent, scary and any grounded child should have nightmares of homicidal, socialpaths murdering them and laughing at them in their sleep. Just got back from seeing it a second time tonight and some (loosely used term) parents had there 2 and 3 year old kids there. They were terified, but its ok mommy and daddy just told them to sit there and shut up so all is well.
I do not believe that Heath Ledger should posthumorously win an Oscar or even be nominated, after all this is a Batman movie and if he was alive they wouldnt even be looking at it.
So take 2 1/2 hours of your life and check this out and if your lucky you will see the trailer for Watchmen and that looks like it shouldnt be missed either.
"How about a magic trick?"

This movie was defiantly more hyped up than what it should have been. I really should have seen something else. Too many people said that it should have been Rated R but definitely not. My bottom line opinion...is that I was truly disappointed and I think the movie sucked. Hancock was much much better and worth my money.

Best of the francise so far. heath ledger's performance is truly oscar worthy. Aaron Eckart is also very good but when he is Batman, Bale needs to unclench his teeth a bit.

This was a good movie. The director put it togehter well, but the storyline was hard to follow at times. I think Heath Ledger is a good actor and was good as the joker, but he's not Jack Nicholas. I love Christian Bale but I think he is better as Bruce Wayne than Batman. Michael Keaton still holds the torch to me. I didn't like Batman's voice.

great overall. they fit a lot into 2.5 hours and at times I wasn't sure how they were going to continue telling the story. heath ledger was phenomenal - superb acting, original, unique and unpredictably brilliant. christian bale and maggie gylenhall were wonderful as well, although gylenhall bordered on the predictable as damsel in distress. very entertaining and worth watching on the big screen for sure.

This is one of the best movies i've seen in a while. I've seen it twice already to try and catch things I didn't see the first time. It was very smart, witty, and full of action-packed, explosion filled, thrills that will leave your jaws on the ground during th entire movie. Heath Ledger deserves an oscar for his performance as he was better than Jack Nicholson in my opinion. The only thing that didn't really excite me is how long the movie is. There were scenes that could have been deleted to make the movie a little shorter, other than that, A MUST GO SEE!!!!

Usually I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon of, "It's the best performance, blah, blah" but Heath Ledger was truly, TRULY amazing in this movie - he really made the film!! Granted, he did have help from the hunkiest of hunks, Christian Bale, but hey - the man was a genius, and the movie WAS AWESOME!!
