The Dark Knight takes you to the darker side of the Batman sagas and it works brilliantly... Heath Ledger's Joker truly is haunting, but strangely alluring at the same time. Production really took out all the stops for action- great stunts, high-paced excitement. I would definitely recommend it, but be weary it has 5 endings (pretty long).

When you see the trailers, you are left asking yourself, "will this movie live up to the hype?" and I was thinking "will this movie be as good, as they are making it look, or will we be left thinking this is all about Heath Ledger's death?"
Let me be the first to tell you...you will be blown away. From the opening scene, I was on the edge of my seat.
This is the ultimate adult escape from reality. Anyone who is a fan of the Batman comic book series Dark Knight, know that this Batman is not that of the TV show, the Saturday morning cartoon....and this is NOT a sequel to the Michael Keaton lead version. Though both series show a more dark and tortured Batman, this one is sinister. You feel the impending doom in the Dark Knight. Translation: This is NOT a movie for kids.
Heath Ledger;s Joker laugh and lip licking will give you nightmares.
And then there's 2-Face, a very weak sub-plot to this movie, but considering how strong the movie is overall, Aaron Eckhart did a great job. Though his charater was not as tortured or torturing as Batman or Joker (respectively). One word of warning, the make-up on 2-Face will turn your stomache.

I thought this movie was excellent. I was skeptical because of all of the hype, but Ledger's performance was fantastic. Bale was great too. It was just long enough and kept you on the edge of your seat.

I went into the theater expecting greatness and wasn't disapointed. Though it was 2 and 1/2 hours long, I did not get bored. I would recommend this movie to anyone that like action movies with great acting.

Acting was outstanding - especially Heath's performance. Special effects were superb! I felt as if I were on a non-stop roller coaster ride...perfectly dark yet entertaining...couldn't have asked for more!

I am a huge Batman fan...I am not really into the cartoons, but I have seen all of the movies many times. I think that Christian Bale is the best Batman and Bruce Wayne to be cast. I was very excited when I found out a couple of years ago that Heath Ledger would be the Joker, because he was one of my favorite actors. I think that it is a shame that he died at such a young age with such potential. This movie is definetely a reflection of how talented he was, because if you did not know it was Heath before watching the movie, you might would never figure it out. He completely altered himself for the part. But aside from the actors, this was the best special effects, and screenplay ever written for a Batman movie. The plot has so many twists and turns, and when Batman flies it looks real, not so much like a blue screen, props to Christopher Nolan.

How this movie got a PG-13 rating is beyond me. I did not enjoy the movie. It was too dark, too twisted, too long, too many story lines and not what I expected. The movie was disturbing. I was ready to leave half way through the movie, but I kept hoping it would get better. I love this genre of movies, but unfortunately I was sucked into the hype.

Absolutely amazing! From the opening sequence to the final shot, this movie captivated me. The dialog was top notch for this type of movie. The actors were phenominal, all deserving of tremendous recognition, which I'm sure they'll get. The late Heath Ledger finally captured the true essence of the Joker from the comic book series and kudos to the writers for staying true to the character. Both chilling and hysterical, this performance of the Joker will never be topped and will rest forever in my memory as the one true Joker. If you weren't one of the 15 million people to go see this movie opening weekend, do yourself the service of rushing out to see it while it is still in movie theatres!

This movie was great. The performances by Ledger and Eckhart were amazing, eclipsing Bale's performance which was also excellent. Though long, the movie itself transcends the 'comic-book' genre into actual drama that just happens to have a guy in a black bodysuit.

I loved this movie, I would pay to see it again. Can't wait for it to come out in retail stores so that I can buy a copy! I don't ever see a better joker that the one Health Ledger played! He was AWESOME-so sad we won't get to see him as the joker again. Christian Bale is perfect for the part of Batman!!!!! Look forward to seeing him again in the 3rd!

This is what the comic book was meant to be...the superhero is fallible, but ultimately victorious. There isn't any of the Hollywood charicature silliness of past Batman or Superman movies...the bad guys are believably scary and sick.
We've seen some of the action scenes before, but they have a Batman twist, which makes them fun. The best part of the plotline? Who dies and who doesn't die.
Moreover, an Oscar for Heath Ledger.

This was a great movie and an awesome performance by all actors involved! The story line was well built and provided a lot of background detail behind the characters that continue to make appearances in the Batman saga. While the movie was lengthy, it had enough suspense and plot to sustain the viewer for the full film. It was also great to see the city of Chicago throughout the movie; it gives a sense of pride to see ones hometown portrayed so finely!

Chris Nolan really hit it on the head when he took on the challenge to 're-do' Batman. Finally, a director that understands the character and his story!! I never cared for the original Batman's, I always thought of them to be corny and never dark enough, but the portrayal of Batman and the Joker in 'The Dark Knight' was by far the best ever. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger give outstanding performances and are both perfect for the roles they played. I would insist that everyone I know sees this if they enjoy the Batman saga. It is indeed a much darker Batman, even darker then Batman Begins but in no way should this discourage people from seeing it. When movies tend to be full of gore and R-ratings nowadays in order to sell, this one captures a clean dark story so perfectly it leaves you craving more!
