In general, the movie was great. The story line was interesting. But what made the movie as great as it was is Heathe Ledgers performance. He was out of this world! Completely DESTROYED the movie with his greatness. Its action packed, humorous, and will have you at the edge of your seats. I definately recomend this movie to everyone!!! WATCH IT!

Anything in excess is a bad thing.
This holds true for hype, which The Dark Knight was besieged by.
The biggest criticism I have is that the movie dragged on near the end.
Another point to take note of is the fact that the ending does not leave any room for another sequel.
Batman Begins was a smooth introduction into the making of Batman. The Dark Knight picks up the pace and leaves the viewers assuming much about the events precipitating to The Joker's decision to go after Batman.

visually stunning, even more than Batman Begins, however a very dark film, not for children, should be rated R.
Joker is tremendous, and not overdone.
Ran a little too long.

This was the best Batman movie I have seen in years. Full of action, great actors and characters. The joker was mind-blowing. Heath Ledger did a different take on this character but he was awesome. It is a total shame we won't get to see him in another batman movie. Go see this movie immediately. You'll love it too.

This is the first comic book "movie" that truly deserves to be called a film with great performances from all the cast. The direction was first rate, the pace was incredibly fast for a 2.5 hour film and the musical score haunting. The third best film of the year behind Wall-e and Speed Racer. A true masterpiece!

I've never seen such great acting by so many actors in the same film, Every time you thought the movie was comming to an end it cranked back up to a higher level and just kept going like the little energizer bunny...... I hope they don't stop with this series, but I don't know how to top this one.... Even if Ledger hadn't died this would still have been the best movie ever....... I just don't know how to explain it any better!!! Its a must see before its on your tv!

I went to the theathre with pretty high expectations and left having my expectations actually surpassed. (It might even be better than Batman Begins!) Christian Bale was amazing, as always, and Maggie Gyllenhaal did a great job playing Rachel Dawes. But I was most impressed by Heath Ledger's Joker. I'd read that his portrayal of the Joker was what the character's creators had always envisioned him to be - he's both funny and demented. I suggest, reading "The Killing Joke" comic book (esp. for those not familiar with Batman history) before watching the movie; it really sheds light on the Joker's persona. I'd be surprised if Ledger doesn't win some sort of awards for his performance. Also, go see the movie more than once - you'll see things you miss the first time.

While i thought the movie was pretty good, one that I probably wouldn't buy, I was blown away with Heath Ledger's performance as the joker. I liked Heath Ledger's performances in other movies, but never thought he was amazing. This movie really displayed his capabilities as an actor. I always thought of Jack NIcholson as the joker, but after seeing the Dark Knight, Heath Ledger will ultimately be the Joker in my mind from now on. Maggie Gyllenhall, Aaron Eckhart, and Christian Bale all did very good roles as well, but none stood out to me like Heath Ledger's. I would definitely recommend this movie to simply experience the joker role.

With all the hype that this movie had surrounding it, I was afraid I may be a little disappointed. However, after every person who I talked to who saw it raved about it, I decided to give it a go. After seeing it, I was
not disappointed at all. The writing and story were excellent, the acting was unbelievably good, and even the message, although at times very dark, still managed to be hopeful in the end.
The only minor complaint that I have with it is the character of Rachel Dawes. Although Maggie Gyllenhaal did a generally good job, it was weird having the same character played by Katie Holmes this time being played by someone else. In my opinion, it would have been a little more effective had they written another love interest or childhood friend in, and had Gyllenhall play that role. However, on a scale of one to ten, that complaint would register a 1 in importance to the movie, and, in the scheme of things, really doesn't take much away from it at all.
It is definitely worth seeing and it is worth the hype. Although everyone is saying this, Heath Ledger's Joker is amazing in that he is clearly crazy, but at times also very rational, a character very hard to portray. This is definitely Ledger's finest role, and although it is tragic that he has passed on, this is a great swan song.

What's with these guys who take comics SO seriously? This flick has more violent scenes than "Saving Private Ryan" and even more philosophizing than explosions. Do we really need to be lectured by cartoon characters? Inappropriate for all ages but most of all for those naive to imagine they have just seen a film with something to say.

The Dark Night is an excellently well written and well acted thrill-ride. Though this movie is a winer it does not follow the comic book story line what-so-ever. So push aside everything that one knows about the comics and it is the best movie of the year.
