What can I say? Action movie with an actual story that you will love and won't be able to stop watching (if you gotta go, YOU WILL HOLD IT).
Was Heath Ledgers final performance as good as they say? Heck yeah! but that doesn't mean that the rest of the charachters were any less impressive. All of the them were completely balanced, nobody stole the show, there only winner? the public! Must see, must own!
Great direction, great effects, awesome show!

The Dark Knight was very well done. Ledger, while everyone is writing about him, is fantastic. The difference between Ledger and when Nicholson played the Joker is that we all knew it was Nicholson as the Joker. In this, Ledger IS the Joker and it is magnificent. The film is dark, not like the Spideman films, which I found appropriate for adolescents. This is much more true to life, if that is possible in a comic book character. Lots of cool effects, as well, with my husband and son marveling over the bat-cycle, etc. Quite violent, but appropriately so for the film and its topics. Some of the characters are a bit one-dimensional, but there is quite the cast of them, so that is fine. We never "know" Mr. Wayne...which is o.k. as he comes off as private, keeping to himself and brooding over an internal conflict that he chooses not to share. Have a GREAT time!

If you're a fan of the original comics and or cartoon series this film goes way past that. You dont get the cheesy acting or comic relief moments like the Batman films over the last 10+ years. Bale rocks his role, Ledger introduces again to the real criminal minds of how the characters should be portrayed... what a shame to miss this actor.

Ledger and Bale add to the Darkness

"Batman Begins" took the Caped Crusader down a darker, and more action driven path as far as the franchise is concerned to me. The Dark Knight, I think, is not really intended for children. It is very preachy, but in a countries such as the U.S., where religion is not the moral compass it once was, I think our sermons should come from somewhere. I think the intricacies of anarchy, sanity, good, and evil are toyed with, explored, and the lines of those intricacies are definitely crossed, and recrossed in "The Dark Knight". Batman is a super hero, with no super powers, but his detective abilities are on in full display. It also has something to say about the goodness that exists in mankind on a whole when faced with impending doom. Everyone talks about Heath Ledger's Joker, and he is as twisted, demented, a creepy as advertised, but I think the film does a great job of portraying him as an excellent planner, and criminal mastermind. Joker always gives Batman a run for his money, and so does in this film. A+. I hope all comic films from here on hold themselves up to higher more respectful standards as this franchise shows how it is supposed to be done."

Best summer movie of 2008. The action, drama, special effects, story line...kept you mesmerized through the end. Heath lived up to all the hype...he was phenomenal. Sorry he was taken from us so early. I do hope the producers plan a Batman Three sometime soon.

This was by far the best Batman movie ever. Christian Bale as batman is great and Heath Ledger as the joker is just incredible! The movie is non-stop action and thrilling. The story of two-face Harvey Dent and how he comes into the Batman saga is brilliant. The joker is menacing and wickedly dark. Truly a great performance by Heath Ledger which steals the thunder of all the other actors/actresess in the film. This is a must see movie.

To be honest, I found any batman movie to top the original, especially if you're going against Jack. But I must say, Heath made a better & more demented Joker. And I'm not just saying that. This has been the best, & darkest batman yet.

Not only is it a comic book movie, but it has elements of a great crime film. It has strong philosophical undertones that are also present in the most famous Batman comics-- The Killing Joke and The Long Halloween. Heath Ledger did an amazing job becoming the Joker down to every detail.

I took my grandsons to see this. Because I take them to the movies a lot, I tend to see these types of movies. Better than Iron Man, which I loved and better than HULK, which I thought was pretty good. Since I am 58 years old, I would be coming from a different place than kids and I thought the action was great. Loved the IMAX effects.

At the time of this review, I'm not sure I have ever enjoyed a movie as much as I did "TDK" and have a strong feeling that this film will stand as the best film I have ever seen. So, The Dark Knight…how is it? Let me start by saying that I left the theater with a blank look on my face just thinking, “I feel cheated.” Now this is both a good and a bad thing in my eyes. Overall the movie was good. It pulled at all my emotions. I was surprised, scared, on the edge of my seat. When a movie can do that, I consider it a job well done. However, I left that theater still feeling cheated because with all the good things that The Dark Knight had to offer it wasn’t enough. Now, call me greedy, but I wanted the joker to disturb me, even make my heart sink into the pit of my stomach; a feeling that I almost got a couple of times. The Joker was fantastic the few times that you got to see him. I loved the few sparing moments that he was allowed to shine on screen but that was the thing…there were only a FEW shining moments. I remember all the car chases and crashes but the only time that my attention was fully engaged was when the characters actually got to play out the epic on screen. I even wished Rachel could have had more of a role; after all, she is the underbelly of Harvey Kent’s character that we are obviously going to be seeing more of. I also thought that including the “birth” of two-face “stole the thunder” from Batman and Joker’s absolutely addictive relationship. I loved watching the Joker and Batman play off of each others emotions when the movie allowed it, but it was so drug out that the characters were spread thin, which lead them to be weaker, hence leaving me wanting more. Call it the cheesy perspective of a female fan, but there was just too much throwing around of male egos and not enough diving into the characters. I wanted to see the defining of characters that I saw in Batman Begins, but only received a series of action scenes with a few unforgettable visions of iconic characters being cheated. Would I watch it again, probably so, but only to be left again feeling like The Dark Knight could have been so much more.

Heath Ledger is a scene stealer, as Joker should be. The movie is exceptionally well written and well acted. Production is HUGE and very well done. Incredible effects top it off. Maggie Gyllenhaal is the weak link in the movie.

Batman "The Dark Knight" was a very disappointing film. Although overall an entertaining experience the movie lacked basic story structure and organization. There was no real build up it was sort of just one scene after another with no clear motives or goals for the characters. The performances were all very good, as was the sound track. Honestly the only problem was the "messy" story structure, it was hard to get involved in the story and therefore made for a disappointing film overall.

Highly recommend this movie. Everything is there. I wish a bit more of the emotional love story was there between Bruce and Rachel, but everything else was fabulous. Ledger's performance is truly wonderful. The stunts, etc. are exciting. Great movie, albeit a bit long.

Without a doubt, the best movie so far of 2008. The 2.5 hours pass faster than "Batman Begins," which was much shorter. Nolan's direction is flawless but it is Christian Bale's and Heath Ledger's movie. They are both incredibly good but Ledger is spectacular. His portrayal of The Joker is the most amazing, scariest, most intelligent t portrayal of a psychopathic murderer since Anthony Hopkins in "Silence of the Lambs."

The Dark Knight was everything a comic Fanboy could ever hope for in a movie. Not only that, but people who are unfamiliar with comic lore are able to become wrapped up in a world where the caped crusader can jump across roof tops or save the day. Heath Ledger is truely chilling as the Joker and makes the audience sit on the edge of their seats the entire time. If this is not oscar worthy I don'k believe in the academy anymore.

Phenomenal Performance of the Joker

Getting back to the roots of darkness in the "Dark Knight". Not your 60's Batman anymore. The role of the Joker definitely changes in this film vs. the classic portrayals of Romero and Nicholson. Ledgers Joker is more true to the original pyscopath intended. It is a remarkable job of acting. Ledger never broke from his portrait of the Joker, he maintained every quirk and tick throughout the film. For once all the hype was on target and Ledgers Joker will be remembered!
