Worth the wait!

Coraline was WORTH THE WAIT. Masterfully created. A fun story and despite other reviewers claiming it "isn't for kids" there were some very young kids at our showing. One got pretty scared and his Dad took him to the rear of the theatre, let him cover his eyes, but also had him open them when parts were less intense or moving toward positives. This assured the child left NOT scared, knowing things are o.k. With the right PARENT(s) this film is for people of all ages. Art students and film students will especially appreciate this film. The stop-motion aspect takes this art form to new heights and raises that bar for future productions. Our 3 teens LOVED it, as did we!

The Dark Knight was very well done. Ledger, while everyone is writing about him, is fantastic. The difference between Ledger and when Nicholson played the Joker is that we all knew it was Nicholson as the Joker. In this, Ledger IS the Joker and it is magnificent. The film is dark, not like the Spideman films, which I found appropriate for adolescents. This is much more true to life, if that is possible in a comic book character. Lots of cool effects, as well, with my husband and son marveling over the bat-cycle, etc. Quite violent, but appropriately so for the film and its topics. Some of the characters are a bit one-dimensional, but there is quite the cast of them, so that is fine. We never "know" Mr. Wayne...which is o.k. as he comes off as private, keeping to himself and brooding over an internal conflict that he chooses not to share. Have a GREAT time!
