This was definitely a dark movie, the best of the Batman movies to date. Heath Ledger and Christian Bale do an amazing job in this non-stop thriller. Amazing fight and action sequences. Should almost be rated R.

I never thought that anyone could play the Joker like Jack Nicholson but Heath Ledger did an absolutely amazing job. Sad that the industry and fans have lost him. Great movie go see it!!!

Of course, everyone goes into this movie with the highest of expectations. For the most part, it does not disappoint. The opening bank robbery scene really sets the tone and sets up how nasty and crazy the Joker really is in this film. By the end of it, I really felt how the Joker strikes fear and panic into the citizens of Gotham. I was a bit scared of him myself. You understand how he's just one of those people that doesn't have logical reasons to what he does. The Joker just "wants to watch the world burn." To the late Heath Ledger, FANTASTIC JOB!!! Batman seemed to be a supporting character. One thing that got on my nerves was the voice that Christian Bale used as Batman. It sounded like he was half choking on a frog! The more i thought about it, the more I was annoyed. Also, there's a bit of non-closure on the capture of the Joker. It would have been nice to see him admitted to Arkham Asylum or SOMETHING! The movie was, of course, the darkest and most gritty of all the Batman movies, but that may have been the best aspect of it! I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if possible.

While the special effects were great, and Heath Ledger did a wonderful job as the joker, I was fairly disappointed with this movie. I felt they could have developed Two-Face a lot more and that this movie could have been an hour shorter. It was pretty slow. I enjoyed watching it once, but I doubt I will want to watch it again, or even buy the DVD.

Great, fast-paced, stylish and smart action packed flick. The story was way more developed and complicated than I had imagined. Ledger's performance is legendary and worthy of all the hype surrounding it. He is downright brilliant in his take on the creepy (much darker) Joker character. In fact, I would've liked to see him in a few more scenes. I'm a little unclear of his fate at the end. Perhaps that, as well as a couple other minor details, are purposely left out to leave questions for the next movie.
Also, Bale's "Batman" voice becomes a little too forcedly gruff towards the end - but we all know he must disguise his "Bruce Wayne" voice. It just became a little too noticeable.
Pretty well developed and interesting characters; but the Joker steals every scene. Get out and see it on the big screen. Kudos to Nolan, great flick.

This movie was incredible! Being an actor myself, I am rather critical about movies and plays. I know that I may be jumping on the bandwagon by saying that Heath Ledger was amazing, but if I couldn't even recognize his voice, face, and acting, that is a sign of a wonderful actor! This was also Christian Bale's best Batman movie. He sunk deep into the dark character revealing the true anti-heroic Batman. The movie is a long one however, but it doesn't disappoint. This movie was the only movie that actually had me "on the edge of my seat" waiting and wanting to see more. An excellent movie with an excellent cast. Worthy of any Oscar!

I saw the Dark Knight on Sun night. I will just say that this is not only the greatest superhero movie ever, but one of the best movies I've ever seen. The action scenes where phenomonal. The acting was top notch. Heath Ledgers performance was brilliant and also haunting. If he doesn't win the oscar, then the ceremony is a joke. The movie gets going and never lets up. This is the Batman we have all been waiting for. Stop what your doing and see this movie!

Words cannot begin to describe this movie. It was pure adrenaline. Each character is well defined and well utilized. The Joker was fantastically insane. Christian Bale is a terrific batman. Not only does he look great but he is actually credible. The action scenes....WOW what a rush. I left the theater wanting to buy another ticket and immediately see it again. This is a must see.

The Kind of Film Hollywood Should be Making!

My wife and I just saw "The Dark Knight" last night. It is a film that will blow you away! It is the kind of film that Hollywood SHOULD be making. And I don't just mean genre-wise.
The movie as a whole doesn't simply rely upon only one aspect of itself to try and carry the rest of it through. Most movies now, especially action/adventure ones, are usually like watching a silent film. You don't focus on dialogue, you vaguely remember the plot if only to remind you why you're there, and you just want to be entertained by fight scenes and explosions on screen. This is NOT the case with "The Dark Knight".
Rarely does a movie draw you in so much that you'll be so attentive to both the dialogue and images on screen, and even the small sub plots in between. Yes there is action, and of course violence, but there is no blood. Which is very interesting in many scenes, because it leaves the gore up to your imagination. The Joker and Two-Face for example; we see the damage done to their faces, but we don't see the actual acts of mutilation themselves. This leaves it up to your own imagination to try and imagine the pain and horror they (and other people in parts of the movie) must have endured. And that is one of the big parts of how the movie draws you in.
The biggest thing however is how the movie as a whole has many believable aspects to it. And that is what will grab your attention the most. Sure there is the age-old aspect of how Batman's wealth fuels his existence. But consider Two-Face, and especially the Joker. How much would it take to push someone over the edge to become that violent in real life? And if someone were in fact to reach those crucial breaking points, how difficult would it really be for them to execute their acts of crime and terrorism? And how easily could any one of us be the next victim, or even the perpetrator if given the proper horrific experiences? Those are the questions you're pondering during and after the film, and it makes it all the more engrossing!
The acting is supurb! Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhardt, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine all did excellent jobs in bringing their characters to life with lots of emotion and realism. Maggie Gyllenhaal & Morgan Freeman were great too. And then there is Heath Ledger. WOW! As with all the players in this film, they became their characters. Heath Ledger on the other hand went even further to almost create a new one. To say he's scary is an understatement. You're not watching Heath Ledger playing the Joker: You're watching the Joker. Heath Ledger may be in the movie, but you'll never see him The Joker is an unpredictable villain not because he is a brute whose prone to outbursts, but because his disarming to relax people, and then suddenly catches them off-guard and terrorizes them. Heath Ledger created a character who is a master at "double-think". He plans things out, and then just improvises on the fly to help see things through. He's purpose driven in his acts to get his message across that there really are no rules to follow, and to have fun at the same time. All while committing various crimes ranging from the thuggish to the outright inhuman to satisfy his needs and wants. This is a VERY deep character that has only begun to be seen by the audience. It really is an Oscar worthy performance. It deserves recognition not only for Heath Ledger's work, but to serve as an example that other actors should follow!
If you want to feel what it's like to be lost in the magic of a movie and escape reality for a couple of hours while watching a really great movie, go see "The Dark Knight"! It's worth the price and your time! If I had only one complaint, it would be that it wasn't long enough, because I didin't want it to end!

The Dark Knight, Rocked !!!! I have always been a fan of The Batman, and when Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan did Batman Begins, I was in deep. I was looking forward to this Batman seconds after the last one ended, I actually had reservations about seeing it because I thought seeing Heath Ledger would make me sad, but alas, what better way to honor the Talented fallen actor than to see his masterpiece role, indeed this was his best,( in my opinion ) I am happy he left this in his film legacy, as for the rest of the movie, Christian Bale is so amazing, he is a beautiful manly man, with a great vulnerability, he is so perfect for this role, every actor is top, the movie itself is heart poundingly intense, never a dull moment, great chases and stunts, explosions, suspense...there are a couple action sequenses and stunts that are just the coolest EVER done.! The costumes, make-up and music take it even higher....And I love that it is without doubt the darkest, scariest super hero movie I have ever seen.

Go see this movie now!! Stop what you're doing and go to the theatre!!
This movie definitely defied the sequel stigma by eclipsing the hype. All of the actors were superb, the cinematography, costumes, and music were excellent, and the writers and director did a wonderful job in creating this continuation of the Batman saga. I highly recommend this film (to adults anyway-- it does deserve the PG-13 rating).
Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and Gary Oldman all put in terrific performances... to the extent that you would forget that this wasn't real. Maggie Gyllenhaal was an outstanding replacement for Katie Holmes, and Michael Caine & Morgan Freeman put in spectacular showings, as always.

Out of the many movies claiming each year to be the high light of the box offices...The Dark Knight is....
Heath Ledger gave a performance that reminded me of what actors have been trying to attain since the begining of the craft. PERFECTION....Heath Ledgers performance will remain in my mind and many others of a man who was his art.
This year Heath will be remembered for that and that alone...! This will be one Oscar deserved and not some pity vote.... actors will be reminded of why it is they are actors and for what we do it for...the art.
I give this movie the highest review.
I take my hat off to Christopher Nolan.... Amazing...here is a director who finally made sense of the Batman we all knew and loved.
