I have been a Star Trek fan for years and I have to say I loved the movie. It was great how they made the movie in such a way that anyone who had never seen Star Trek would be able to enjoy. I'll definately be buying this movie for my collection.

I loved it. It captured the original with just the right amount of griitty industrial realism and great special effects. But the best part was the fact that it remained true to the original theme of the 1960's TV show which I grew up watching.

From first to last I was enthralled and impressed. It was easy to see the men and woman to come from the young selves. The actors captured the unformed essence of each character and the budding relationships were marvelous. Those who were not fully fleshed out in the series were extrapolated wonderfully (Sula and Chekhov). I will see it again next week.

This movie was PERFECT. Been a Trek fan for my entire life - it was awesome to see the storyline get "rewritten" so that there are no constraints for future movies [and episodes].
JJ Abrams is phenomenal - he will go down in the history books as being a visionary.

With action right from the beginning, this well-directed film can be followed by anyone without a degree in "Star Trek". While the movie had references to the original series that make the purest of Trekkies laugh and cheer, those who might miss the reference still experience a well-acted dialogue. With a bit of bravado, the actors deliver on their roles. While it would have been helpful to get a bit more background on the nemesis, the movie still comes together very well.

I am a huge fan of the original Star Trek series and I thought this movie definitely kept up the awesomeness of that series. The actors did an amazing job of protraying younger versions of the originals and the plot line was awesome. I loved how they accounted for the variations as well. Just an awesome movie, even if you aren't too in to Star Trek, you'll love this movie!

I thought it was terrific, it brought me to tears, it's stylish (and the actors are stylish) and classy. The disrupting of the time line allows for sequels and for freedom in plot development.
All to the good. It was only 5 hours afterwards that I noticed the one thing that bothered me, namely, that the Star Trek political and moral philosophy had pretty much disappeared; no triumphs of negotiation like that dramatized in the 6th movie, no critique of human excess like that in the 4th, no juxtaposition between war and other means of settling disputes; this is a good-guys vs. bad-guys movie, the bad guys get blown up, the good guys prevail. Very satisfying, as noted, but something's missing.

FABULOUS!!!
Excellent job of building the younger characters to mature into the tv characters that we so loved. Nuances and phrases were spot on. Any star trek fan who loved the TV series will love this prequel. Spock, Kirk, Sulu, Scottie, Bones, Checkov and Uhura all perfect!
LOVED the time/ worm hole explanation . Loved Leonard Nimoy reprising his role and counseling the younger Spock and Kirk

This movie is outstanding and sets the stage for a whole new series of Star Trek features.
I went on Mothers day along with my wife and daughter both of whom loved the movie. It has the action and the romance that helps keep both men and women interested. At the end of the movie the entire packed theater applauded as if we were at a live preformance.

New Treck movie is worth a big screen experience, maybe two. I usually wait for the DVD, but am glad we went. Great character developement (with some satisfiying, abiet unexpected twists) and history gave this sci-fi feature some backbone from which to hang the CG action, which had me jumping in my seat. If you want to "boldly go" you can with confidence, with or without a Star Treck memory.

An excellent movie with enough nostalgia to make it consistent, but updated to make it relevant! You will hear many sounds that seem to be right out of that original series, yet done in such a way that it is not a caricature of the original.
