I am usually very critical of comic inspired movies. I will have to say that this movie exceeded all my expectations and more. Firstly the effects were well done and did not eclipse the actors. Robert Downey Jr. brought a depth and humor to the character of Tony Stark that surprised me. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was genius. For an origin movie most of the characters were well rounded and well played. I will likely see this movie again.
Oh.. and stay through the credits for a surprise.

I had high expectations for this movie and I wasn't disappointed. I really liked how they told the story and took the time on the important stuff.
I also like how they didn't overdo the effects and used them the right way when it was appropriate.
I'm going to see this movie again.

Marvel scored another hit with this one. I grew up in the 60's and 70's reading these comics and I've enjoyed almost every film adaptation. It's funny, but Iron Man wasn't one of my favorite comic books, but this movie might be my favorite one yet. It was a great role for Robert Downey Jr.

What a great movie! The action was great, and very well paced. The dialog was better than expected, lots of very funny one liners. Really wonderful, enjoyable the whole way through.

It seems I've been waiting for years for a prime example of how to turn a comic book character into a movie character, and this is it. Everyone involved in the production seemed to have a great respect for the source material, this wasn't a reimagining of the story this was a realization of it. very well done! Oh, and I highly recommend waiting around until after the credits, you won't want to miss that part! I'm going right now to see it again.

Iron Man was a visually spectacular film. Both Jeff Bridges and Downey Jr. were excellent. Terrence Howard was given a role that could have been played by a stick figure, and at times the plot advanced illogically. Not quite as exciting as Transformers, conceding the scenes with John Turturro and Anthony Anderson which were unwatchable, but there are a number of film sequences in Iron Man that are must sees. They did an amazing job with anything involving the suit, and the scenes showing how rich Tony Stark is were great. Check it out

I was so excited to go see this movie and let me tell you that it did not disappoint me. It was probably the best comic book movie to date. Faverau did an excellent job with this and Robert Downey Jr knocked it out of the park and was probably the best person possiabe to play Tony Stark. The entire cast was awsome and the movie balanced the action and comedy. I am definatly going to go see this a few more times while its still in the theaters. Can't wait for the next one already

Marvel has reached a new stage in the super hero film. From the fantastic origins of constructing the grey armor to the flashy awe of the red and gold, actor Robert Downey Jr. completes the suit as the perfect Tony Stark. This movie had everything I wanted in a Iron Man film. It kept me entertained and didn't greatly deviate from the original story. Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect choice to play Tony Stark, and the rest of the cast is excellent as well. When you go to see this movie don't forget to stay after the credits for an awesome cameo.

One of the best comic book movie adaptations... and Downey and Bridges rock! The casting was right on target across the board, and any plot holes are insignificant to the overall spirit of the movie.
My teens and I enjoyed this movie, but the toddler behind us was probably a bit too young to "get it", based on the non-stop commentary and questioning... so I'd recommend 10 years and older for this movie.
As for the PG-13 rating, the suggestive content was indeed brief and quite benign, and the action sequences were not overly violent within the context of this movie's storyline.

Lately, I have been going into movies that are based on comic book characters half-heartedly, because most of the time they suck, (Batman begins, being the exception).
This Iron Man movie was just awesome. It exceeded my expectations. It was just an all around great movie, and I think if you go see it, you'll be pleasantly surprised as I was.

WWTSD? (What Would Tony Stark Do?) is my new mantra! Coolest character ever, even before he suits up!
Maybe it's because it took a fanboy director to finally dig into the heart of what comic-book storytelling is about. Maybe it's because of the collaboration with Robert Downey Jr. to infuse the character and story with his own rock-star persona. Maybe it's because EVERYTHING on screen was shot is a way that was new and fun and exciting!
I love my X-Men, but both films left me feeling like there was something held back. Spider-Man1 just ok, 2 was better, 3 fell way short. The 1st Hulk was a steaming heap. Other comic-book adaptations have tried but always seem to fall short.
If you like tech, hotties, action, more action, and living the rock-n-roll life style, GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!
P.S. Watch ALL the credits.

thank god for John Favreau... thank god for Marvel Studios...
This movie was sheer greatness... for fanboys and comic book fans alike this is what we have been waiting for from a marvel character... The casting of Downey Jr as Stark, is the most genius piece of casting ever... all of the little gems that are given out thru the movie, suggesting, hinting at a possible future for the Avengers franchise. This movie is destined to make boatloads of money... Great Job Marvel!

I must say that at first i was very skeptical about Robert Downey playing Tony Stark, but he did a great job with it. the action scenes were intense and exciting. I would definitely go see it again. my wife and i had to fight as to who would go take my kids to go see it when they got out of school

Now, normally I don't expect a comic book movie to be anything but fun. I don't go into the theatre expecting excellent acting and a well rounded plot.
But that is why Iron Man is so special. Not only was the writing true to the characters, it was a very good movie in its own right.
I'm normally harsh on comic book movies because of how much of a fan I am. However, Iron Man delivers on every one of my expectations. The acting is excellent, the SFX are mindblowingly cool, and the plot is a mix of corporate intrigue and balls to the wall action.
Also, the ending - after the credits - is just pure nerd candy. That gets extra points.

Iron Man is a very well made Marvel Superhero movie. The story features Middle Eastern Terrorist, which pertains to today's sick world, and the special effects are first rate, thanks to CGI.
Robert Downey Jr. is perfect for the part of Iron Man. Remember Tony Stark is a wealthy, heavy drinking womanizer, not unlike Mr. Downey's recent past.
Can't wait for Iron Man 2.

If you are a comic book fan, you have to see Iron Man.
If you're not a comic book fan, you still have to see Iron Man.
This movie is, by far, the best comic book adaptation movie...Period. Better than X-Men, Spiderman, Batman...this trumps all of them! Never has a movie really captured the exact essence of the comic book character and his plight.
