I was waiting to see what they would come up with and I was definately NOT disappointed! It was an excellent movie. I was kinda looking for more scenes with the two Iron men battling it out but I can live with it. I missed the end of the credits - aarrrggghhh!!!! Definately a go see - Enjoy!

When it comes to bringing a Marvel Comic character to life it can be somewhat of a challenge, because you don't want to disappointment long time avid fans. There have been many attempts in the past and some have hit the mark and some have missed it all together. This time they hit the mark. They brought the characters from the comic book to life and did them justice, in essence they kept them true! Robert Downey Jr. is an excellent choice for Tony Stark. All of the actors that were chosen for this movie were chosen correctly. The beginning of the movie is slow to start, because they have to build the character and the story line for those who never grew up with the comic book character. So serious fans may wonder if they are going to be disappointed, but if you stick it out you wont be. Lots of action, great story line!! This is a must see for the whole family. If I was to give this movie a rating score it would be a definite 10! But wait......just when you think the movie is over.......wait it out for the surprise after the credits.

Plenty of action and story line to keep your eyes glued to the screen. Playboy billionaire turns into a thinking, feeling hero right before your very eyes. A few dashes of comedy and a sprinkle of s@xual tension mixed in among the main ingredients of drama and action to make the nearly perfect summer hit.

This is one of the best comic book movies I've seen yet. Considering how much I've enjoyed ALL the comic movies that have come out lately, that's saying something.
The casting was excellent, the acting was great, and of course the effects were wonderful.
The female lead was believable, likable, intelligent and sexy. She's not the usual action movie disposable female. I think, as a woman and a comic book fan, that makes a huge difference to me in how much I enjoyed this film.

There were a lot of great actors in this movie! The actiing was good, which was a suprise in the action movie. Gwyneth should keep the red hair. I thought Robert Downey Jr. looked stacked.

Great movie. I had a hard time picturing Robert Downey Jr as a superhero, but he was excellent, perfect for role, in fact. This is definately a modern day superhero movie, involving terroist-type groups rather than other superheros or fighting crime. There was lots of action and great humor. I brought my boys, ages 8 and 11, there were some inappropriate moments and some language, but overall, we all loved it.

the chemistry between the actors especially DOWNEY and Paltrow jump off the screen the special effects are themselves a co-star if not star in this movie couple with a excellent storyline and well time ad-libs and quips makes for a thoroughly entertaining movie just over two hrs this movie and Mr. Downey keeps your attention from start to finish they will be most definetely be a sequel

Even if you don't care for comic book characters, this film gives you many reasons to see it. If the special EFX don't dazzle you enough, there's more than ample character interaction to give you a sense of who they are. The humorous scenes and dialogue are placed at timely intervals. In terms of pace, it feels like a film directed by an actor who knows the capabilities of those actors in front of the camera.

We went to see this movie with our three teen-agers. This was an awesome, brilliantly made movie. We did not notice any cursing and there was one brief incident, but otherwise there was nothing offensive. Would recommend this movie.

Robert Downey Jr. is the standout here. As the somewhat reformed, always unpredictable skirt-chasing mechanic millionaire, he brings a spark to a Marvel character that hasn't been seen in Toby Maguire's dead-eyed depiction of Spiderman or in Ang Lee's lackluster "Hulk".
Gwyneth Paltrow also stands out. While her Pepper Potts is a highly paid indentured servant to Tony Stark's man child, Gwyneth quickly establishes the high ground over Tony's would-be harem. Jeff Bridges amazingly is unrecognizable as the anti-Lebowski.
The other winner is the suit itself. No inanimate piece of metal, the Iron Man armor is alive as a computer-controlled sports-car decked out human missile.
And that's the real punchline in the movie. While the action scenes may not set the world on fire, it's really hard not to walk out of the cineplex without thinking "Gee ... I'd really like one of those!"

OK, so I've been a Marvel Comics nerd just about my whole life. I've enjoyed all the Marvel movies, but I was really looking forward to Iron Man...and I was very impressed!
But the best thing I can say about the movie is this: even my wife liked it! She liked the fact that Iron Man is just an ordinary guy (except for the fact that he is an engineering genius) who builds an extraordinary suit. He is not a mutant, he didn't come from another planet and he doesn't fight superhuman villians. We give it two thumbs up!

Great movie, Robert Downey Jr. is wonderful. Definitely too intense for younger children. Ties to today's world very well. I did however find the scenes in the beginning with the soldiers difficult to watch since my son is a marine currently serving.

Felt like I was in a M Moore movie - usual themes from Hollywood: America is bad, arms manufacturers are bad, military is inept, America arms the terrorists, corporations are evil, blah blah blah.
If you can ignore the worn politics, the acting is good, and my 7-yr old loved it.

Saw this at one of AMC's digital theaters. Outstanding film! Great special effects. It never dragged--two-plus hours went by very quickly. Great chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. Funny Stan Lee cameo appearance. Fast-paced. Robert Downey Jr. did a terrific acting job. His character wasn't likeable at first but developed nicely over the course of the film. Do yourself a favor--go see this movie! By the way, don't leave early--stay until after the credits are over. There's a brief extra scene after the credits.

Iron Man is a solid movie that does not suffer from copious indescrepancies between the comic book and the movie. It all transitions very well, with the CG effects being seamless and very realistic. The acting is great, not coming off as overdone at all, in my opinion. Robert Downey, Jr. excels in the role of Tony Stark, and Jeff Bridges shows great range as the main villain.
The story itself is very well done, I must say, as I am usually somewhat dissatisfied with Marvel films.
That said, what I didn't like about the movie was they did not give Iron Man too much flight or fight time. When Stark WAS in the suit, though, it rocked so much house that I was dying for more. The fight scenes were well orchestrated, but again ... just not enough of it. Iron Man ruins his enemies so fast that it doesn't leave a lot of time left for extra badassery.
Now, the suit. The suit is done superlatively. The repulsor blasts from Iron Man's hands were great, the flight and control of the suit was done very well, and the overall look of it was just like Iron Man jumped off the page and onto the screen. Very real, very believable.
SPOILER BELOW!
The kicker comes at the end of the flick when Iron Man is approached by Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury mentioning an "Avenger Initiative." Obviously room for a sequel here.
